we are learning eight have been arrested in overnight raids. >> we are not afraid. and our resolve will never waiver in the face of terrorism. as we meet here in the oldest of all parliaments because we know s democracies and the values will always prevail. >> a man ran people over in an suv and stabbed an officer at the parliament. that officer did not survive. among the civilians killed, a woman in her 40s is and a man in his 50s. 40 people were injured, including an american. 29 were treated at hospitals. seven are in critical condition. >> as we follow those developments out of london, more breaking news just into our newsroom. word of an arrest in connection

with a recent string of bomb threats in jewish community centers including here in the bay area. an arrest has been made in the middle east. he is said 18-year-old u.s.-israeli citizen living in israel. still more to come. the san francisco sheriff's department is moving forward to equip some jail guards with body cameras. >> it comes after years of allegations that deputies were forcing inmates to fight. the sheriff's department will ask for funds to provide the body cameras. good morning, pete. good morning to you, laura is and sam. the sheriff's office will ask for the funds from the board of supervisors during their morning meeting behind me at city hall. they will start off with 30 jail deputies and then expand to

all 850 deputies. the focus will be on jail 4, the second floor of the hall of justice in san francisco. it was a source of controversy a couple years back after they wered to take part in a gladiator style inmate fight club. fights and even possible activities. they secure funding for the pilot program. guards were accused of beating an inmate to death. >> thank you very much, pete.

a teenage girl shot and killed on police officers who fired on eye vehicle they say was connected to multiple robberies will be laid to arrest in antioch. fremont undercover officers on shot on the car after they say it sped toward them. one bullet struck the passenger in the back seat. since her death we have learned she was pregnant. the car was stolen is and at least linked to a dozen robberies. >> a live look at our nation's capital. you see the slate is up as they bring their health care to the house floor for a vote. 26 republicans have said they oppose the gop bill to replace the affordable care act. tracie potts will join us with a live update in 30 minutes. >> transportation leaders in the north bay considering a way to

ease the crunch for commuters. north bay car pool hours have been the same for 40 years. many drivers believe commute congestion times extend later than they used to. how about changing the scale of the maps that your students read. they are seeing a world in a different way than they might be used to. the school district is using a new world map that more accurately shows how large the continents are. >> it was created a few decades ago and shows land masses more to scale. they are better for navigation purposes. the new map will add initiative to a new initiative to learning. they are the first district in the country to add the peters map to the curriculum.

the peninsula, no problems down to the south bay. bound bay shore freeway moving very well. mike, kari, thank you very much. relief on the way for california farmers. they will get significantly more irrigation water compared to past drought years. farmers are getting 65% of what they would typically expect from the federal system of reservoirs and canals. they grow ava right of different crops. it forced them to drill new wells hoping to get repleni replenishment of the groundwa r groundwater. convicted killer shiloh was transferred to a california women's prison. she is calling her newing a

it is going to be sloppy out there. the rain will have moved out on saturday. the field still wet. we have had a lot of rain recently. as we get a live look at, this view all lit up. and we have clear skies overhead. a nice dry start to the day. 50 in san francisco and palo al alto. come over and a look as you make plans to get out there on the field this weekend. a chilly start in the north bay. santa rosa, 38 degrees as you walk out the door. heavier jacket as we needed. going to still see temperatures slightly below average reaching 62 depress in palo alto and napa. oakland, 61 degrees. and livermore also looking at 61 degrees. we are going to see some changes here. the clouds start to roll in tonight and tomorrow. the rain moves into the north bay first. the rain will be heavy at times as it spreads to the south.

we are not expecting any major river flooding. there may be brief street flooding as the heavy rain moves in. it all moves out friday night once again. looking at this storm system approaching. it's a forwardly large system. we are looking at rain for most of the day. and looking at san jose and how much we have had so far. the average amount is two inches. we have some making up to do. we just may do that heading into the next storm system and additional rain late sunday night. once again for the north bay, starting out. heavier early tomorrow morning. throughout the day, waves of rain moving in. and pockets of heavier downpours. it all starts to move out. and off toward the east in time for saturday morning. as we look at how much rain we could see, the potential of another inch of rain. so parts of the north bay, santa cruz mountains may get a little bit more. there may be brief street flooding we will have to

monitor. all of this rain causing potholes on the roadways. >> that's right, kari. we have one larger pothole reported for the nimitz freeway. we'll point that out to you. and south, no slowing here. the peninsula just starting to get fed by the dumbarton. we'll talk about that in a second. this is where the pothole is. crash cleared at dyer. you may find a traffic break. big enough to have to repair. caltrans will swing by and check out southbound 880 at alvarado pothole in the middle lane. the rest of the bay, getting towards the bay bridge. no real surprises. there was a disabled vehicle getting off the bay bridge. it might be affecting your slow lanes. still just 22 minutes from highway 4 to the bridge toll plaza. metering lights are on. there's your westbound commute. it is moving well. back to you.

welcome back. 6:24. we heard about the erosion of middleclass jobs. new this morning, middle-aged white americans with limited education are dying at increasingly higher rates than other adults in the u.s. that is just released by princeton university. they argue the loss of steady income jobs with high school degrees or less has triggered major problems for this specific group of people. more likely to be unemployed, unmarried have poor health. part of the collapse of the white working class and the same dynamics that helped fuel the rise of president trump. a woman says her homeowners insurance company made a promise it couldn't keep. it will cost thousands of dollars. chris chmura is here with her story. christy goodin first

discovered water damage caused by a leaking shower years ago. her bathroom was gutted and redone. her homeowners insurance covered the costs. aaa also verbally promised it would stand behind the work for five years. but when christy needed the company to honor that promise, she said it wouldn't. >> i thought you know what, i can't stomach this. i just can't. >> christy learned the water damage was never properly fixed the first time. when she called and e-mailed aaa, she says no one responded. so she asked us for help. we contacted aaa and they sent out a contractor right now. they footed the bill for the bathroom to be gutted, repaired and put back together again. that saved christy self thousand dollars. we wanted to know more about the five-year guarantee aaa offered. but aaa wouldn't offer saying it

disabled vehicle in the middle of the south bay shore freeway. we're following the southbound commute. you don't see any slowing. university is just out of our view. i hope they can clear that quickly without any problems. breaking news from london. a lot of this coming within the last hour or two. islamic state saying the attacker was a soldier of the islamic state. eight people have been arrested in overnight raid. early this morning the prime minister speaking from parliament saying an attack on london is an attack on the free world.

after drinking toxic tea is now suing the company that made it. we are expected to learn more about the specifics. she died after drinking the medicial tea. a man in his 30s was also hospitalized in a separate incident after drinking tea from the same herbalist. he has since recovered. a suspect accused of killing a richmond man as he was driving on interior state 80 is expected to enter a plea on murder charges. investigators say elliott johnson also of richmond shot and killed him as he drove his mini van on the highway earlier this month. chp says johnson has an intensive violent history from gun charges to carjacking. frightening moments on bart.

a 73-year-old woman recovering after being violently attacked. investigators say a man kicked the woman in the head and ran away. it happened early yesterday morning at the coliseum bart station. fortunately, the woman will be fine. no word why he attacked her in the first place. all eyes on the nation's capital this morning as today is the day that the house votes to repeal and replace obamacare. but which version remains unclear. nbc's analysis shows republicans may not the votes to pull it off. today in the bay tracie potts is monitoring the situation. watching all the developments from the capital. this is looking like it could be a really close vote. yeah. especially because one more no vote came in night. republicans still work to go get support for this plan. what we don't know at this hour is exactly when the vote will

sparked the fire. >> we also have the very latest details on the london terror attacks that left four people dead, including the suspect. isis says the attacker was a soldier of the islamic state. prime minister theresa may says the suspect was on possible radar for connections to violent extremi extremism. he acted alone. eight have been arrested in overnight raids in connection with that attack. this morning we are hearing an american is among the 40 people injured. conditions so far have not been released. more breaking news to get to, laura. word of an arrest in connection with the recent string of bomb threats made against jewish community centers, including some in the bay area. an arrest has been made in the middle east. the suspect was said to be an 18-year-old u.s. israeli system living in israel. no further details being provided.
