out there. don't forget your jacket on the way out. rain in the south bay, 55 degrees. peninsula at 46, and tri-valley at 52. we're feeling on the cooler side. that's because we don't have a lot of cloud cover. just up ahead, today is expected to be another seasonable day across the bay area with mostly sunshine expected to dominate in the forecast. and that means we will once again have some pretty pleasant temperatures in the 60s and 70s. not a lot of 80s today. i know we enjoyed that this weekend. i do have a check of the temperature trend and what you can expect in terms of incoming rain this week. >> sunshine dominating. that's awesome. over here, the green dominates most of our map because it's so early. light traffic all around the bay. we're continuing with spring break. san francisco last week. this week, rotating around pleasanton, livermore, and for the next three weeks around the bay. eastbound 80, a disabled vehicle. looks like it just cleared seconds ago. a burst of traffic flow causes a

little slowing just north of there. but counter commute. that's where the incident was. over here, your commute getting to the bridge. no slowing. back to you. >> thank you very much. 4:32 right now. bizarre and disturbing story out of napa. a 13-year-old girl is recovering this morning after escaping an alleged kidnapping who held her for more than 24 hours. >> mar ean favro has detailed about her escale and her accused kidnapper's arrest. >> investigators say this man, timothy lee marble, sexually assaulted a 13-year-old girl. they say he met the girl, who had run away, at a gas station in napa early friday morning. that's where he convinced her to get into his truck. sonoma county sheriff's deputies say on saturday morning, he called 911 from bodega bay saying his 13-year-old companion jumped from his truck as it was moving. when deputies arrived to check it out, the girl stumbled out

from the bushes with road rash and told them she jumped out of the truck in fear for her life. she also said marble had driven her around, they smoked marijuana, and when she rejected his sexual advances, he tied her to a tree and raped her. he also allegedly sexually assaulted her two more times in his truck. the girl also told deputies marble injected her with methamphetamine and used a knife to cut his name into her skin. >> horrifying. >> in napa, word spread quickly about the attack, and the girl's daring escape. >> i give her a lot of respect for her to have thought to jump out on instinct, i'm pretty sure of it, but it's scary. >> investigators say the teen told them after she jumped from the truck in bodega bay and didn't answer her kidnapper's calls, she threatened to kill her. when he heard no response, he dialed 911. several people we talked with expressed relief the alleged

attacker is now behind bars. >> i'm glad he was caught right away by the police, because if he had just tried to get away right there, they might not have ever gotten him. >> 50-year-old marble is a felon who was convicted of drug charges. some who live in this mobile home park say they have seen him visited relatives here. >> surprising. >> nbc bay area news. >> pretty shocking story there. 4:34 on your monday morning. this morning, concord police asking people in one neighborhood to check their home surveillance systems. detectives are trying to catch a serial tire slasher. owners of about 20 vehicles found their tires slash yesterday morning near clayton road. police are asking people to check their surveillance systems to see if they see anything suspicious. >> 4:34 on your monday. violence breaks out in antioch, and this morning, police are looking for suspects in connection to two shootings. one was deadly. a man was shot before 9:00

yesterday on k street. that victim did not survive. about seven hours before that, a man was shot at cruiser saloon, a bar on eighth street. that person did survive. >> from celebration to terror. a birthday party quickly turned violent in pittsburgh over the weekend. five people were injured when someone opened fire. happened just before midnight saturday night at a home. a group of men tried to get into a party and were asked to leave. that's when one opened fir. five people who were hit are expected to be okay. officers arrested the gunmen at the scene. >> a live look at interstate 880 in dublin where hopefully everyone is driving with two hands on the wheel and your attention is on the road in front of you. this month is distracted driving awareness month. police will be cracking down on people who are distracted driving. a traffic alert this morning, road work on interstate 80 in vallejo that is bound to

new community center slated to enter in san jose this morning will focus on immigration services. music and dancing filled the grand opening of the clinic. the clinic will provide low-cost legal services for undocumented men and women. sam liccardo said fear of deportation has increased the need for help. >> so critically important that we have these services here because in san jose, we have more than 80,000 undocumented immigrants. that means we have,000offs families theerate worried about their kids, their parents, and we're trying to do everything we can to help families stay together. >> officials say before president trump took office, 200 people sought legal help with immigration. now, that number is roughly 1,000. >> are you prepared for the big one? that's the question we ask a lot

around here. earthquake safety week in san francisco. safety summit begins this morning at 8:30 at the salvation army's headquarters. it's a week long event that will feature local, state, and federal personnel sharing best safety practices. as you see from the top corner of your screen, the video you're looking at is damage from napa's 2014 earthquake. the salvation army is hosting several events at ft. mason. their events begin tomorrow morning. >> stronger than normal rip kurnlts are expected to continue today on bay area beaches. national weather service is reminding everyone to be aware of their surroundings. watch out for the sneaker waves. the warning is extending down from sonoma to monterey county. sneaker waves seem to come out of nowhere. the current is expected to grow calmer by this afternoon. >> 4:40 right now. i was in pacifica this weekend hiking just above the ocean there. you could see how rough the water was, how strong the waves

a's. i want to show you something interesting we found out with a new tool coming up. >> thank you very much. 4:44. business and tech news for your monday morning. apple taking another stab at selling you tv. >> maybe some new options for you. for that and the rest of the news before the bell, we turn to landon dowdy. good morning. >> good monday morning to you both. wall street kicks off the second quarter today. mixed this morning. the marketst coming off a mixedfirst quarter. the dow extending its winning streak to six straight quarters. the next bell in march, snapping its monthly win streak at four. a big week for economic data with investors keeping a close eye on the key jobs report. on friday, the dow fell 65 points to 20,663. the nasdaq slips two. the big automakers are reporting their march sales numbers today. forecasts call for another rise in total sales led once again by suvs and pickups, but there's

signs of concern for the industry. prices for pickups are cooling off and the number of incentives even for those hot selling trucks are rising. eating into the company's bottom line. apple is taking another stab at selling you paid tv. it wants to sell consumers a premium bundle combining hbo, showtime, and stars. apple always selling the channels individually for apple tv and ios devices but it's approached the networks about bundling them like cable companies do, but as a stand alone product. back over to you. >> soubts pretty convenient. >> thanks a lot. >> 4:46 right now. rei wants women and girls to get away from the tv, get outside. so the owdoor co-oplaunch. an effort to increase that participation. it's opening registration for 400 outdoor school classes and experiences all designed for women and girls. they plan to hold 1,000 events for thel throughout the summer. >> everybody pitching in there.

11 miles per hour. now, one thing you are going to notice over the next couple hours is the winds are going to die down, which is perfect because i know we do have opening day for the oakland a's, and wind and baseball aren't a good combination, right? but what isn't a good combination as well is pollen and wind. of course, we have a little bit of a breeze, we do see high pollen counts. here's a quick check of today's pollen report. trees right now looking high. grass low, mold low, weeds low. make sure you're prepared if you have plans to be outside, so it doesn't ruin your day. those darn allergies. fremont, 75. san jose, 76. san francisco, 67. santa rosa, 78. napa, 76. so definitely seasonable. slightly cooler than what we saw this weekend. this weekend in the north bay, they saw some 80s, especially out near nappy and santa rosa. but with this nice weather, as many of you are heading to the beach, we want to remind you

there is still a beach hazard that will remain in effect. that's going to remain in effect through tomorrow. that's because there's a potential for seeing sneaker waves and strong rip currents as well. the temps will be nice. half moon bay, if you're heading to santa cruz, 60s. in the next seven days changes on the way. three days left of sunshine before we see a system making it way in on thursday. it looks like the models are showing stormy conditions especially going into friday. unfortunately, that looks like it could carry into next weekend, also in the inlnt area, a cool front dropping us right back into those 60s. mike, how are the roads looking? >> very clear right now. i do have something interesting for folks traveling out of the altamonte pass. we also have this that popped up. 237 westbound, the commute direction. there's flowing. a stalls vehicle blocking, and maybe one lane. cruisers should be arriving soon. west 237 at lawrence expressway.

proudly caring for northern california, 4:54 right now. on your monday morning, as we take a live look outside right now. the cones are up on the golden gate bridge. as it is going to be a golden day ahead of us. beautiful weather this weekend. that's going to extend to the start of the work week. >> you're not in your golden years just yet, but some people are. this is interesting. a majority of people in the bay area are in support of more housing here, but how people feel about it depends on how old they are. the bay area counsel found 70% of voters 18 to 39 years old support new housing construction. but only 57% of voters older than that support the new housing. the overall trend is clear. this year, 62% of all voters say they support building new housing, close to where they live, up from 56% in 2014.

>> really breezy. a least through the early morning, and then it looks like by the evening in time for baseball, the winds should be dying down. really, the people feeling the impact is areas along the coastline. overall, we're seeing nice clear skies. south bay, 51. as you're waking up, making your way outside, 46 degrees at tri-valley at 47. san francisco, 52. east bay, 50, and the north bay, 51 degrees. it is a little on the chilly side. make sure to grab a jacket on your way out. look at the temperature trend in san francisco. we are expecting to warm up in the upper 60s yet again. if you notice the icon is all sunshine. we're expecting a very dry, sunny day ahead, but we have some rain. you do want to stick around for my main forecast because i'll be talking about the timeline for that. mike. >> we're looking at a very easy commute around the bay. we had seen a little slowing southbound 280. unusual around lawrence expressway. the possibility of a road crew, although they said it was not an active scene, and t
