seen any problems. traffic did slow for a short period of time. dubl dublin, along the dublin grade. pleasanton, livermore schools on spring break. back to you. >> 6:03. back to breaking news we have been bringing you in the last half hour. new information coming in to the newsroom after two explosions were reported at a metro station in st. petersburg, russia. here's what we know so far about the casualties. ten people are dead. at least 20 people are reported hurt. >> we're just now getting live images in as well. let's give you a live look at the scene. they're saying this was from an unidentified explosive devise. the russian news agency reported that all metro stations have been shut down for the time being. you see the response. we're thoeld there are at least 80 rescue workers on scene. russian president vladimir putin, according to reports, was in st. petersburg earlier today. >> russia's putin releasing a statement within the last few minutes saying he's considering

all causes, including terrorism. st. petersburg is russia's second largest city. nbc news is working the story to bring you any available updates. we'll bring them to you as this is breaking news this morning coming to you from russia. >> 6:04 this morning. we're now getting an idea of just how many people are using the new warm springs b.a.r.t. station that opened up in fremont. >> some passengers are finding issues with the train schedule. kris sanchez joining us live there this morning to explain what's going on. i know you don't want folks to get caught off guard. good morning. >> good morning to you, sam and laura. we were here when the warm springs station opened and trains started rolling through. there were a lot of folks excited. they told us that starting their commute here at the warm springs station was going to save them about ten minutes out of their commute. turns out that that might not be true for everybody all of the time. more than 2400 riders hopped on b.a.r.t. here on tuesday and on

wednesday of last week, according to numbers b.a.r.t. provided to the mercury news. some found out the hard way that they have to make a transfer to get to theiral destination. here's a look at the warm springs schedule snag. there is no full service from here to the richmond line yet. that means richmond riders have to, after 6:00, take a transfer at the fremont station to get there. daley city riders, there's a transfer on weekends in order to get to the richmond line. if you're a casual rider, maybe just take b.a.r.t. to a ball game or so, know that the transfer adds time to that ride. to be fair, that transfer is listed on the b.a.r.t. schedule. and the reason for the lack of full service, according to b.a.r.t., the spokesman told the mercury new it's because there aren't enough trains to go around. we know there's a fleet coming. but we know from our own reporting that's not happening until likely next year. in freemont, kris sanchez. >> thank you very much. >> 6:05 right now.

today is the last day for victims of the deadly ghost ship warehouse fire to apply for low-interest loans offered by the small business administration to cover some of the property damage. many artists called thisland warehouse home. you'll recall that 36 people were killed in that december. 16 people including two children are without a home this morning after this dramatic fire in oakland. one person jumped out of a second story window to escape. we're happy to say that man is okay. it happened just after 3:00 this morning at a building near mcarter boulevard. >> 6:06. a sad story to report. a concord family is grieving after they one-year-old girl was found unconscious in a backyard swimming pool. this happened yesterday night on leyland way. the family called police when they couldn't find the girl. officers found her in the pool and immediately performed cp

rrk. concord police are investigating how she ended up in the pool in the first place. >> a gift-year-old felon is in custody accused of kidnapping and assaulting a 13-year-old girl who pulled a dramatic escape. authorities say timothy lee marble met a runaway at a gas station friday and talked her into riding with him in his truck. on saturday, he called 911 from bodega bay saying the girl jumped from his moving truck. when deputies rived, they say the girl stumbled out from the bushes and told them she had been assaulted repeatedly. word spread quickly about the daring escape. >> i give her a lot of respect for her to have thought even to jump out. on instinct, i'm pretty sure of it. but it's scary. >> seemed to have tortured the girl as well. marble is expected to face a judge tomorrow. all right, coming up right now on 6:0 egg on your monday morning, and baseball is back. we know a few teams including the giants played last night. for the a's and many other teams

schaaf making an appearance, and another appearance with this rooted in oakland campaign. a's players visiting the oakland zoo. we know the raiders are moving to las vegas in 2020, and the warriors moving across the bay bridge to san francisco to play their games in the chase center in the 2019 and 2020 season. the a's will soon enough be the only team in town. i want to show you mayor schaat taking the opportunity. this happening on the day nfl owners voted to relocate the raiders to las vegas. i spoke with a spokesperson with the a's on how they plan to honor oakland this coming season. >> we are dedicating ricky hender field tonight before the game. we're going to have a new logo on the field for rickey henderson who is going to spike to all the fans. he's a special adviser to the president. he'll be part of the team for

good morning. it's 6:15. as you're getting the kids ready for school, here's a quick check of the forecast. by 7:00 a.m., clear, breezy, a little cooler. by recess, the temps warming up into the upper 70s. please make sure to pack some nice light clothing for them or a jacket they can shed throughout the day. i'll have details on what you can expect for highs, and of course, a look ahead at the weekend coming up in three and a half minutes. >> the commute holding a little loather for the tri-valley because of spring break. upper east shore valley, 24 minutes. north 880, very nice through oakland. we'll show you a cool trick for the southbound commute.

>> thank you very much. quarter after 6:00 on your monday. happening right now, another scam warning as tax season is wrapping up. pg&e officials say they have been getting a lot of calls from customers in the bay area from scammers who are posing as pg&e employees. the scammers are targeting customers who haven't filed their tax returns yet as well as those who have already filed since they have some extra money. >> ford is recalling about 52,000 f-250 pickups because they could roll when you put them in park. the third recall announced by the company in the last week. it affects the 2017 model. lucki luckily, no reports of accidents or injuries so far. >> tesla is selling a whole lot of cars. >> scott mcgrew, twice as many as last year. >> really spectacular numbers coming out of its fremont plant. 25,000 cars made and sold in the last quarter of 2016. we just got the numbers last night. they show tesla is actually succeeding in hitting some of the sky high numbers that elon musk has set.

the latest ism numbers which measure manufacturing are out at 7:00 our time. friday, we get the jobs numbers. the sec jobs report in the trump presidency. the dow fell again friday. nasdaq slightly lower. today is the first business day of the second financial quarter. when president trump was candidate trump, he often said those jobs numbers that will come out friday were fake. were made up. last month, white house secretary sean spicer said out loud the president no longer thinks that now that he's president and the numbers are good. spicer's exact quote was, the numbers were phony in the past. but they're real now. we haven't seen a lot of ipos, not compared to years past, but on friday, palo alto's cloudera filed paperwork for an initial publicing. it does data analysis. not terribly sexy unless you're really into high-tech. it's well thought of. it's head of security there on an interview on press here. speaking of ipos, this is an ad

degrees. so maybe a nice day for a run. san jose, 50 degrees. as the sun begins to come up, we will warm up nicely. by 1:00, 70 degrees. rour expected highs across the bay area, upper 60s and 70s. walnut creek, 76. half moon bay, 64. enjoy the sun because over the next seven days we have some big changes on the way. we have high pressure that will sit over the area, but as we head into wednesday and thursday, we get a shift in that weather pattern. by thursday, we get a very strong cold front, and what that's going to do is sweep in, bringing with it some rain, gusty conditions as well. with the gustiest conditions expected to be early friday morning. if you had any plans for a birthday party on friday, take them indoors because it looks like the showers carry over through saturday. with the gustiest of the wind at least dying down by friday night into early saturday. and here's a quick check of the changes ahead that you can expect later this week. windy at times with rain returning by thursday. for now, clear roads. >> pretty clear. we have a couple issues because

the commute is building. we'll show you, the south bay peninsula, no problems there. nice easy drive. we have a new crash, but lighter traffic the tri-valley. looking add northbound 680. there are spring breakers for pleasanton and livermore schools so that might be contributing to an easier commute. getting across the bay, we'll look at estimasan mateo bridge. reports of debris somewhere along the stretch, although i don't see a problem. and check this out. we have our new partners with waze. i want to show you, southbound 880. swaz shows us the average speed is 36 miles per hour through hayward. you see the slowing across the san mateo bridge, and there's the slowing across the tri-valley. now, looking at 31 minutes if you take the freeway. 35 or 41 if you jog over to hesperia. they say stay on the freeway, it's slow but better. a way to help us out, sign up for the waze team. go to your waze app. click on the magnifying glass

6:24. breaking news just in to our newsroom. reports of a duplex fire in north richmond. i'm told it's happening at silver avenue and just a few blocks away from fred jackson way. sky ranger is headed that way. we'll continue to monitor the situation and of course bring you the latest information as soon as we get it. sam. >> 6:25. we have important health news for you. it turns out most children who die from the flu aren't vaccinated. researchers looked at 291 pediatric flu deaths. what they found is three quarters of the children who died had not been vaccinated. only a third of children with high risk medical conditions who died had a flu shot. the flu vaccine is recommended for all children 6 months and older. >> 6:25 right now. nbc bay area responds to a castro valley man who paid $200 for magazine subscriptions, yet

he has received nothing so far. our team looked into it. consumer investigator chris chmura joins us with how he closed the case. >> last july, james paid a door to door sales person $200 for four magazine subscriptions. they worked for ps circulations. but james says he never received a single magazine. so he asked for our help. we learned james isn't alone. other consumers have filed complaints about ps circulation with the better business bureau, they, too, said they didn't receive magazines they paid for and complained of their sales tactics. we contacted ps circulation and it refunded james' money. the company told us there was a simple error when james' order was entered into its system. it went on to say in a statement that any time this happens we are more than happy to assist the customer in making the situation right. ps circulation did not answer

at least two explosions have been reported at a metro station in st. petersburg, russia. >> video just in to our news room. the latest numbers for you. ten people have been killed. that's confirmed. 50 people injured. the kroous state department urging americans to contact their loved ones. security tightened at all critical transport facilities. all metro stations there have been shut down. that's the case since we first broke the story about an hour ago. russian president vladimir putin was in st. petersburg. >> he's saying he's considering all causes, including terrorism. st. petersburg is russia's second largest city. of course, nbc news is working the story right now. we'll bring you any available updates as soon as more information comes in to our newsroom. >> also developing this morning, police in one east bay city asking for help after a series of tire slashes happened along three tf streets in concord.

rick boone is live to show us what happened and why people should be concerned. >> they should be concerned, and the number one thing police want you to do here in this area is check out your surveillance video. if you have surveillance video, go back and look at that videotape as much as they can. they said they are certain that wheefrb did this to so many vehicles had to be captured on some type of cama. it's believed this happened between saturday april 1st at 9:00 a.m. and the 2nd at 7:00 p.m. more than 20 vehicles, those 20 vehicle owners reported their tires slashed. it happened within blocks of each other. it's in the same area a couple years ago when 60 tires were slashed. now, police say there may be more vehicles out here in this area that could have some damage. so they're asking residents and also those vehicle owners to check your car, check your truck. this morning, and also check your surveillance camera if you can help them out and try to find out who these suspects are.

they don't know exactly the motive or who is actually behind it. we're live in concord, rick boone for today in the bay. >> thank you very much. it's 6:34 right now on your monday. violence breaks out in antioch. this morning, police looking for suspects in connection with two shootings. one of which was deadly. a man was shot shortly 9:00 last night at k street on west 7th. that victim did not survive. seven hours before that, a man was shot at cruiser saloon, a bar in antioch on a street, person did survive. >> celebration to terror. a birthday party quickly turning violent in pittsburg over the weekend. police say five people were inski injured when someone opened fire just before midnight on saturday at a home on madeleine street. a group of men tried to get into the party and were asked to leave. that's when one opened fire. five people struck, expected to be okay. officers arrested the gunman at the scene. >> a majority of people in the bay area are in support of more

housing, but how people feel about it depends on how old they are. the council found 70% of voters, 18 to 39 years old, support construction of new housing in their neighborhoods. only 57% of voters older than that support new housing. the overall trend is certainly clear. this year, 62% of all voters say they support building new housing close to where they live. that's up from 56% in 2014. at 6:35, new this morning, an uber driver behind bars accused of sexually assaulting a female passenger in southern california. police say the assault happened last thursday but they just made an arrest in the case. a woman told investigators that the man was driving her home from a work gathering. he pulled up along the street and attacked her. she managed to get out and run away to call police. all right, vianey has been telling you about the great beach weather coming our way today. it comes with a caution. stronger than normal rip currents are expected to continue through today on bay area beaches.

you're looking right now at a live look at pacifica this morning. see the ocean tossing a little bit right there. the national weather service is reminding everybody to be aware of their surroundings and to watch out for so-called sneaker waves. warning extends from sonoma down to monterey county. sneaker waves are larger than normal waves that can seem to come out of nowhere, hengs the name. the current is expected to grow calmer by this afternoon. >> a coast guard crew back in the bay area this morning after a successful mission of stopping drug smugglers. the coast guard cutter straten and its crew arrived back in alameda this weekend. they spent 98 days patrolling the eastern pacific ocean for smugglers. at least 4,000 pounds of cocaine were confiscated by the crew. >> the intent is for the coast guard to push our borders offshore, get down south where the cocaine comes out of colombia from the jungle so it never hans a chance to get down to the border. >> the coast guard says the street value of all that cocaine

seized is more than $50 million. >> 6:36. if it seems like the oakland airport is busier than ever, it's not your imagination. the airport says february marked the 39th straight of passenger growth. with close to 850,000 passengers. that was nearly 6% higher than a year ago. international operations actually spiked 73% thanks toinarily new departing flights. >> plenty of people on the roads. a live look at interstate 580 in dublin where hopefully everybody is driving with two hands on the wheel. >> this month is distracted driving awareness month. the chp is planning to crack down on distracted driving, especially drivers not using hands-free devices. they make so many devices now to hold your phone while you're driving. got to keep your attention on the roadway when you're behind the wheel. >> when you're not driving and have a chance to look at your app safely, you have something to tell us about, a partnership with waze. >> we'll show it to you, but before you get to the report, make sure you have a mount

schedule snags for richmond bound riders. they have to transfer at the station after 6:00 p.m. police in concord are trying to figure out how a 1-year-old girl ended up drowning in a backyard swimming pool. the child was found unconscious yesterday night at a home on leyland way. the family called police because they couldn't find the little girl. officers then found her in the pool. they performed cpr, but sad, the little girl dit not survive. >> a very unsettling story to tell you about. a 50-year-old felon accuse of kidnapping and assaulting a 13-year-old girl. he's expected to face a judge tomorrow. investigators say timothy lee marble met the girl at a gas station on friday. on saturday, he called 911 saying the girl had jumped from his moving truck. when deputies arrived, they say the girl came out from the bushes and told them she had been sexually assaulted
