that's how much snow -- the fourth of july. that's how much snow we're seeing. vehicles needing chains to get over the passes. that's not good for the big trucks trying to clear the mountains. we will see more snow today, possibly up to another one to two feet of snow. here is the storm system making its way farther and farther to the east. and you see the higher elevations seeing the snow and the lower elevations seeing is the rain. this cold front will continue to move eastward. it's going to stir up winds across the southwest. that could create some fire danger today. it's also going to be the trigger for storms in the middle of the country as we go into sunday evening. in the meantime, we're looking at more snow to fall through the sierra mountains. also across the northern rockies and then here you see on sunday evening, another storm system makes its way into the pacific northwest. more rain and more mountain snow. look at some of these totals we could see. again, more than 12 inches in a lot of areas. we could even see close to two feet of snow where some of those heavier bands of snow persist. here's our critical risk today including albuquerque, stretching down into el paso. and including tucson where we

vianey arana with the micro climate forecast. >> it is cold and we're seeing another band of showers. we saw another storm move in last night. we've been under a micro climate alert since yesterday afternoon since about midday yesterday. if you're just now waking up and it's feeling chilly it's because of the cold front vicky mentioned. peninsula already seeing showers and they're seeing showers all night in tri-valley. then 50 degrees in san francisco. but look at the north bay back down into the 30s. so all those 50s, mild temps we've been waking up to, that all got pushed over by this cold front. here's a live look at that doppler radar. we did see an additional batch of showers move in last night. that's that second storm. you can see lightning and thunderstorms just off shore. there's the possibility that that could hit areas inland. we'll keep a close eye on that.

>> thank you so much. several families in the oakland hills are out of their homes this morning, evacuated because of a mud slide. there's fear this morning also that the situation has gotten worse overnight. heavy rains soaking that already saturated ground. families were evacuated because it's too dangerous for anyone to be inside. the hillside is unstable and at any moment more mud and sliding trees could pour into the home. >> mud is coming through there, through the bathroom into the bedroom and into the hallway. >> all the work to clean up the fallen hillside and to repair the homes has to stop until city officials give them the go ahead. homeowners say their newest worry this morning is shoring up a crumbling road right above their property so it doesn't slide down and bring more mud. it is a race to protect our water. there's a slow leak under the bay bridge. crews are rushing to keep fuel and oil from polluting the
