"early today" starts right now. >> good morning. i'm yasmin vossoughian. >> i'm frances rivera. a horrifying ideal for so many families. kids will be returning to school with counselors after a gunman opened fire in a san bernardino classroom leaving three people dead. 53-year-old cedric anderson walked into north park elementary school telling the desk he was dropping something off for his estranged wife, 53-year-old teacher karen smith. he entered her special needs class and began firing, killing his wife and wounding two children who were behind her. police say he then turned the gun on himself in an apparent murder-suicide. one of the children, 8-year-old jonathan martinez, died at the hospital. the 9-year-old is in stable condition. nearly five hours after the shooting the evacuated children were allowed to reunite with their families who had been

refused to leave voluntarily. >> my god. what are you doing? >> reporter: video posted shows the man his face bloody after hitting an arm rest. >> oh, my god. look what you did to him. oh, my god. >> reporter: witnesses say the crew had asked four passengers to leave voluntarily for up to $800 so four crew members could travel to louisville. when no one agree, the airline randomly selected four passengers. the unidentified man refused. >> said no, i'm a doctor, i have to be in louisville to see patients tomorrow morning. i can't get off the plane. >> reporter: after being dragged he returned appearing distraught. >> i have to go home. >> reporter: finally he was taken away on a stretcher. >> didn't seem right how united went about pulling someone off the plane, paid for a ticket, already on the plane ready to go.

>> reporter: the ceo oscar munoz took to twitter saying i apologize for having to re-accommodate these customers. he promised investigation and is reaching out to this passenger to talk directly and resolve the situation. the passenger rights advocates point out even after you buy a ticket the airline can legally bump you without consent, though they must offer compensation. >> a public relations disaster but not just a public relations disaster. this is an example of how not to treat a passenger that you've already boarded. >> reporter: chicago police suspended one of the officers involved. >> really doesn't make sense, does it. in the letter obtained strikes a different tone. calling the passenger quote disruptive and belligerent saying he emphatically stands behind all of his employees. >> the chairman of the fcc says a proposal introduced in 2013 that could allow passengers to eventually make cell phone calls on planes isn't happening. he says airline pilots and flight attendants didn't want

it. and that taking it off the table permanently will be a victory for americans across the country who like him, quote, value a moment of quiet at 30,000 feet. three texas police officers are recovering from injuries after a man backed into them with an suv while trying to flee. body camera footage showing an officer struggling to remove the driver from the vehicle. suddenly at least two officers were on the ground. moments later shots are heard. a dash cam also caught the incident including police pulling a boy out of the car to safety. the driver then rams into the police car before officers open fire. the suspect did drive off, was eventually arrested and charged with aggravated assault. a top ranking republican senator calling out russia leveling a bombshell accusation against russia. senator john mccain blames moscow for cooperating with the syrian government in last week's deadly chemical attack. >> i believe that russia knew about the chemical weapons because they were operating from exactly the same base.

i believe that the united states should first tell russia that this kind of war crime is unacceptable in the world today. >> despite that bombshell, a trump administration official told nbc quote at this time there so no u.s. intelligence community consensus that russia had foreknowledge of the attack. the white house made it clear military force is still on the table when it comes to syria with white house press secretary sean spicer taking this hard stance. >> if you gas a baby, if you put a barrel bomb in to innocent people, i think you can -- you will see a response from this president. that is unacceptable. >> spicer later clarified saying he is in no way signaling a new policy. the developments as secretary of state rex tillerson is heading to moscow today following meetings on the syrian conflict
