monday morning...as we take a live look at the bay bridge. it a all right. some wet roads out there to start off your monday morning as we're takingaic live look at the bay bridge toll plaza. speckles of rain on the camera. a busy holiday weekend and a little soggy to start off the work week. today in the bay starts routh now. we hope you had a great holiday weekend. i'm sam brock. >> i'm kris sanchez in for laura garcia-cannon. today, we want to get right to the weather because it could impact your drive off to work. kari, a little slick. >> a little slick this morning. bright, beautiful, sunny on saturday, andthen on sunday, the rain moves in. we're still seeing the lingering showers this morning as you get ready to head out the door, and light rain mostly for the north bay and san francisco. also seeing rain moving through the east bay as well. here's a look at all of our

cameras. the roads may still be wet, but cloudy skies and lower temperatures. lower 50s. as we go through the day, going to see times of sunshine, some light showers and temperatures reaching into the upper 60s. as we head through the week, more rain on the way. we'll talk about the timeline coming up. vianey is tracking how that affects your morning commute. >> it looks like so far so good. chp is not reporting any major incidents and so far, the traffic sensors are green for go, but it looks there may be a car that stalled out earlier. it's still pretty early out there and there's not too many cars on the roads, fwut is still slick, so slow down. a look at the bay bridge toll plaza. seeing light rain. please be careful, slow it down

just a bit. over to you. >> vianey, thank you very much. >> in washington today, president trump sitting down with secretary of state rex tillerson, fresh off his trip abroad. north korea sure to dominate the conversation. >> north korea launched a missile this weekend which failed. tracie potts has more. >> vice president pence just hours ago at the dmz between north and vouth korea making it clear nothing has been ruled out, responding to north korea's failed missile test. >> all options are on the table. >> despite a strike, military action does not appear to be the trump administration's first choice. >> it's time for us to undertake all actions we can short of a military option to try to resolve this peacefully.

>> any push to get north korea to back down is sure to involve china. >> whether they're currency manipulators or not, we should expect them to act to prevent what could be a cataclysmic event. >> if china can be brought to the point where they're putting pressure constantly on north korea, there's an aunt to freeze their system and roll back. >> trump has been silent on the missile test, but he did tweet about it, asking why call china a currency manipulator when they're working with us on the north korea problem. >> it's 4:33 right now. we're still waiting to hear more details from vallejo police on the suspects who opened fire at a party full of teenagers. a chaotic scene for first responders and we have a listen to the dispatch audio. >> we have three so far. there's one down inside of 110

calhoun. we need more units for crowd control out here. there's probably 60, 70 kids. >> it happened early sunday morning. four teenagers were rushed to the hospital with gunshot wounds. police say a group of teenagers were standing outside the house when someone in a car opened fire. the only clues that investigators tell us they have released so far is that the suspects were in a four-door car. all of the victims are expected to recover from the injuries. >> there's a manhunt under way in ohio for the suspect who committed a heinous act. murdering an elderly person seemingly at random and posting a video of the killing on facebook. the video shows the gunman who police have identified as steve stevens getting from his car and approaching the elderly man. the victim is told he's about to die because of a woman. stevens stopping there, obviously, shoots the man at point blank range. the woman referred to in the video is apparently stevens'

gunman. during the gunman's rant in a separate video, he talks about killing other people too. >> we want this to end with as little -- with as much peace as we can bring to this right now. >> after stevens posted that video, it was viewable for about three hours until facebook removed it and deactivated the account. police so far have not found any evidence of other killers. >> 4:35. a hunger strike continues in san jose. a group of housing activists are refusing food until tomorrow's city council meeting and they didn't eat all weekend either. tomorrow is when city council leaders are expected to vote on a protection measure for renters. they cite landlords claiming cause. activists have been out in front of city hall saying they're fighting for the vulnerable. >> the women and children of

color, our single mothers, our domestic violence survivors who are the most, most vulnerable to these no-cause evictions. >> the california apartment center counters with, san jose already has laws to prevent landlords for evicting tenants for financial gains. the city needs to enforce those laws rarlthd than create new legislation, and additional layeroffs bureaucracy. >> monday, recess and ready to face constituents. dianne feinstein is doing something monday she hasn't done since trump took office, hold a town hall. we'll tell you why it's drawing so much attention next.

fire on sunday in redwood city. we're hoping to learn more about the man killed in an rv fire on sunday in redwood city. firefighters found the 52-year-old man in a burning neighborhood in the north fairoaks neighborhood. investigators say an extension cord that ran through the door for power likely started the fire. >> no word yet on what caused this explosion that destroyed a room at this san jose hotel. the blast happened around 12:30 in the morning on monterey road. two people were critically injured in that incident.

firefighters were able to knock down the subsequent fire in about 20 minutes time. a spokesman for the fire department said he could not comment on the source of the blast but said police could be taking over that investigation. some amazing video that you have to see. investigators searching for the cause of this fire in fremont that as you see destroyed dozens and dozens of cars. look at that. flames from a car lot in an industrial park sent up clouds of black smoke that could be seen for miles away. the flames jumped from car to car, burning at least 30 by the time firefighters gained control of the fire. there were no air quality warnings issued. >> tragic news out of berkeley this weekend. police there trying to figure out how a woman fell to her death from a third floor balcony. a 21-year-old woman who has not been identified fell early sunday morning on dwight way, several blocks away twraum the cam campus. >> senator dianne feinstein will

hear from bay area voters in a town hall meeting later this morning. the veteran lawmaker has taken heat from critics for not holding more town hall meetings during the last congressional recess. anyone who wants to attend today's event will need a ticket in advance and it happens at the scottish right masonic center. >> up next, taking advantage of united's bad pr, a competing airline trying to make more passengers switch over. their offer to passengers if they're bumped off a flight. bay --

you're looking oracle arena live -- welcome back right now on your monday morning. 4:44 right now. that is a shot of 880 and not too far away in the distance is oracle arena back there. the warriors playing their first game so far of this playoffs. shocker of all shockers. they won the game. are you surprised? i know it's hard to believe. >> never happen before. >> it did go back and forth for a while. >> a good game for the first three quarters. yeah. so the splash brothers in full effect. a little splashing going on this morning, too. >> cars kicking up the rain in front of you. we'll see rain moving through as we head through this morning and going to see rain moving through as we go through the morning. here's a live look outside at san francisco. some of those light showers rolling through as we speak. and some low visibility. the temperatures are fairly mild. 56 degrees and the high today

expected to reach 62 degrees. looking at some of that rain moving ip, very light rain. this is leftover from the system that moved through yesterday evening, but we're still going to see some of the showers mufging through the north bay as well as san francisco. temperature wise, we're at 54 degrees in fairfield. livermore, 56 degrees. the seven-day forecast is now up at the bottom of the screen showing that we will have some rain off and on for the next couple of days. but it won't be raining the entire time. we're now going to see the high temperatures today up to 66 degrees in east san jose. 66 in gilroy, and the east bay, also mid to upper 60s, which is about where we should be for this toom of year. half moon bay at 62 degrees, and 63 in the mission district. novato and sonoma will be at 65 today. we have been talking about the chance of rain over the next couple days. a live look at san jose. mostly dry, but how you dress

for the weather, the day where you need the umbrella off and on and also nice warm jackets. as we go into the next couple days, that will be what you need as we see more weather systems moving in. the next one arrives later on tonight with rain moving into much of the bay area. some widespread downpours and it will be heavy at times. but it won't be heavy the entire time we see the rain, and by wednesday, another round of showers moving in. so it will be a week with some showers through at least early on thursday. but then we'll get some sunshine. high temperatures reaching into the low 60s all weekend, san francisco. upper 60s by the end of the week in the inland area. this is when we'll feel the biggest difference in temperatures. mid 60s today, but up to 78 degrees on sunday. as we head over to vianey, she's tracking how the wet weather affects your commute. >> well, the roads are still up to a decent start for a monday morning. the sensors aren't picking up too much, but there were two

accidents reported along 880 southbound. both unrelated but it appears one of the accidents that was blocking one of the first lanes, it looks like the tow truck is on the way to clear that out, so that shouldn't be causing any backup, and then just up ahead, it looks like there may be another fender bender, but judging by the drive times i don't think this is going to be a big impact. southbound 680 to vargas rose, 11 minutes, and the southbound 880 toward highway 84, about 11 minutes. all in all, the roads are off to a pretty good start. if we look at the golden gate bridge, you can see low visibility near that area with the split commute. so just slow down just a bit and don't forget about those windshield wipers and lights. back to you. >> thank you. all right, get those tax returns done. you have exactly 24 hours left. a little more than 24 hours. taxes are due tomorrow. >> this year, everybody had a little bit of extra time to file the returns. tax day usually, of course, on april 15th.

peninsula. the dow falling 138 points on thursday to 20,453. the nasdaq dropping 31 points to 5105. earning seasons gets under way this week with several big names reporting including united airlines today. united ma have had a bad pr week, but business has been pretty good. the receiptsly touted improvements in key areas such as on-time performance, but investors will listen closely for any comments on whether bookings have dropped in the wake of last week's incident. >> speaking of airlines, delta may be taking another shot at its rival. the airline has given employees permission to offer passengers up to nearly, get this, $10,000 to give up their seats on overbooked flights. a company memo obtained by a.p. shows gate agents can offer up to $2 houn, up from 800, and supervisors can offer up to $9,950, sam and chris.

4:53 right now on your monday morning. this is a live look right now at santana row in san jose. not too many shoppers out, but they will be out later today. the roads are wet right now. in san francisco, in the north bay, we'll have a full look at weather and traffic coming up at 5:00. >> happening right now, live look in boston where runners are boarding buses to take them to the starting line of the boston marathon. this is the 121st running of this marathon. once again, it's happening amidst heightened security. temperatures are supposed to be warm, around 60 degrees for the 30,000 or so participants. the folks are ready, wearing the

skimpy running outfits. >> warm weather ready. >> a historic referendum in turkey over the weekend. voters narrowly expanding the leader's power, but opposition leaders are challenging the results. it essentially replaced the country's parliamentary system with an executive presidency. president air dewon won, and they're questioning the integrity of the balloting and saying they'll challenge the final quote. the changes could keep erdewon in power until 2029. >> a truck that provides food to thousands was recovered after being stolen sunday morning. it has been a workhouse for the last three years. the white pony express used it to deliver food to thousands of less fortunate in the east bay, replacing it will cost $70,000.

volunteers say they have no hard feelings for the thief, but the missing truck makes work much harder. >> we have a few others, only one the size of suzy. so yeah. it's a problem for us. >> there are a lot of hungry people who depend upon our deliveries every day. >> that group picks up and delivers foods from restaurants. >> 4:55. no more problems finding a charge. new legislation would install charging stations for electric cars all over san francisco. it would require all new construction projects to install charging stations. it with be a large-term investment in fighting pollution. >> what could be a relatively optimistic meeting in san rafael when city council members take sort of a look in the mirror. they'll hold a session to discuss results of a recent satisfaction survey.

it appears san rafa yeael resid are satisfied. 3 out of 4 are satisfied with their city services. should be a quick meeting then. >> new fire station. this is a quick turn around in menlo park, about to go up, that fire station, station 6, in downtown menlo park. what you're looking at here are renderings of what it will one day look when they finish construction. the contractor finished pouring the slab floors. the rain we had delayed the project by about two months, but the fire station is on track to be completed by the end of the year. station 6 will serve menlo park. >> if you thought president trump's first 100 days were challenging enough already, today is the first family really getting done to business. >> they're hosting their first white house easter egg roll. a tradition that goes way back, obviously, nearly 150 years to 1878. there were questions about whether this would happen this

your monday, post-easter forecast coming right up. that's the golden gate bridge. today in the bay starts right now. thanks for joining us on this kind of muggy morning. i'm kris sanchez in for laura garcia-cannon. >> kwlm sam brock. there's your proof. couldn't see the golden gate bridge. it's moderate temperatures too. >> not that cold. you do still need a jacket to keep you dry, and we have seen the mist and drizzle rolling across parts of the bay area. pretty much what we'll see off and on throughout the north bay, and in san francisco for part of the day. partly cloudy skies, looking at spotty light rain. nothing too dramatic, but we have wet roads. mostly dry in the south bay with cloudy skies and a slight chance of rain, and temperature trends throughout the day will be in the upper 50s. before you know it, and into the upper 60s today. not a lot of sun in the forecast.
