good to be at the end of the work week. friday morning. doesn't it feel good to be at the end of the work week? let me answer that question by saying, yes, it does. a live look at the bay bridge and the san francisco skyline. the rain is gone. spring temperatures are going to take us right into the weekend, and we're really looking forward to it. thank you for joining us on this friday. i'm sam brock. >> i'm kris sanchez, in for laura garcia-cannon. we want to lack at the forecast. >> are you ready for summer? >> and some football or no? >> just summer. we're going to have that today. temperatures are going to jump up for some spots at least ten degrees across parts of the bay area. it will feel very nice out there after this cool start. we're at 47 degrees now in the tri-valley, and 53 degrees in

the south bay. san francisco also at 53 degrees, and 47 in the north bay. look at these temperatures for today. 79 degrees in the tri-valley and the south bay. and also 79 in the north bay, wouldn't be surprised if a few spots hit 80 degrees. 69 in san francisco. we'll talk about how those temperatures go back down for tomorrow and why. that's coming up in a few empties. back to you. >> thank you. 4:31. first, a party, now the clean-up. the haze has lifted from golden gate park and we got to see what was left behind. crews wasted no time picking up garbage and whatever else they found. 15,000 people packed onto hippie hill to celebrate the unofficial marijuana holiday, 420. leaders put more rules in place and it seemed to work. >> all kinds of rules, febss up. >> this is an event that's

happening with or without a permit. what we're trying to do is provide the infrastructure that it happens safely. >> the entry point was set, no minors were allowed through that point, and certain items like glass, large coolers, and barbecues were off limits. no arrests to report at this point. a live look at san jose right now, and it's all quiet at 4:32, but this weekend is to be jam packed, which means a lot of traffic and not a lot of parking. >> pete suratos joining us live from the san jose convention center with some of the headline events that could cause a headache for people living nearby, but certainly an excitement, a buzz about everything going on. >> that's right. a very busy weekend ahead here in san jose. you can expect plenty of road closures because of those events. one is at the san jose convention center. the annual silicon valley comic-con, and we can expect some of the biggest names in the

comic book industry here for that event. that's going to close down certain parts west of market street. you can expect road closures and parking issues as well. then the pivotal san jose sharks game on saturday. they take on the oilers in game six in the first round of the playoffs. that will keep the area busy. parking will be an issue as plenty of fans head to the area to catch the game at the shark tank or at local bars. here's a look at the remaining goings-on. i spoke about the first on the list, the march for science event, and the sofa street fair. we're going to talk about more of the events, the road closures and how they can affect parking throughout the weekend. live in san jose, pete suratos for today in the bay. >> a busy day in store. thank you very much. other news right now, the tennessee teacher charged with kidnapping one of his former students is going to be facing a judge in a california court today. 50-year-old pat collins

disappeared with a former 15-year-old student, elizabeth thomas. on the run since the middle of march, they were found yesterday in northern california in a remote part of sisque county, not far from eureka. turns out the care taker of a rental cabin compound recognized cummings and tipped off authorities. >> someone sent me a picture. i'm like, that's inguy. so, you know, we called 911 last night. >> good thing he was paying attention. he'll be arraigned this morning. thomas will be flying home to be reunited with her family. >> a bomb fear in san francisco cleared out a block of market street. over now, but san francisco police did have to respond to that suspicious package on market street and a shelter in place advisory went into effect around 8:00 eerd evening. police cleared the area and the bomb squad did show up at the scene. at about 10:25, police secured the area and lifted the advisory. >> mountain water will be back

on tap for east bay homeowners. the mercury news reporting 800,000 east bay homeowners will have their tap water piped from its original source again. the river water is sourced from the sierra mountains and melted snow there. that change will affect customers in oakland, richmond, san leandro and communities west of the berkeley hills. >> 4:35 now. keeping the government open for business. coming up, the deadline for congress to pass a budget or watch history repeat itself. are lawmakers optimistic they can cut a deal? we'll tell you. >> a live look outside right now. san rafael this morning, that is the s-curve, almost too dark to really see all of it, but plenty of sunshine in store for today and for your weekend. kari hall will get more into that in two minutes. capitol this morning..

as congress and the presid well, a live look at our nation's capital this morning, a clear look at the capitol dome as for the agenda in d.c., that's a different story. congress and the president gearing up for what is expected to be a very busy week ahead. lawmakers returning to washington from recess. they have a matter of days left to get a budget deal done or they can watch the government shut down again. >> today in the bay's tracie potts is live in washington with a look at what they're doing come monday. good morning, traceie. >> good morning. you might think come monday that might be the big priority, but

now, president trump is putting something else on their plate. he wants this congress next week to take another look at his health plan. when congress returns next week, lawmakers will be laser focused on preventing a government shutdown next friday. president trump also wants them to take on health care. >> we want to keep the government open. don't you agree? so yeah, i think we'll get both. >> approving the republican health plan next week looks iffy. three congressional aides tell cnbc there's no health care vote scheduled. the budget is the priority. republican leaders seem ready to approve a one-week temporary extension while they work out a deal. speaking of deals, president trump is weighing in on why he wants to pull out of iran's nuclear agreement even though they are complying. >> they are not living up to the spirit of the agreement, i can tell you that. >> critics worry walking away from the deal gives iran license to develop a nuclear weapon. >> we would rather them be bad

without nukes than with nukes. >> and then there's north korea. u.s. spy planes are now on the lookout for a nuclear test. president trump says -- >> we are in very good shape. >> we are a long way away from resolving that crisis. >> crises abroad and at home with the shutdown deadline one week away. that plus trying to get health care done within the first 100 days, in fact, some lawmakers are saying they don't like feeling pressured to try to meet what they consider an artificial deadline, the president's first 100 days, to get health care done. >> that government deadline to keep things running is definitely real, though. tracie potts from d.c., thank you very much. >> thank you very much. >> we know that our lawmakers are not going to have a relaxing weekend, but we might. we have the perfect weather for it. >> especially today as the temperatures warm up. this is what it feels like as you get the friday started. the mid to upper 50s.

a live look outside at the golden gate bridge this 4:43 right now. looking live at the golden gate bridge. and it should be a smooth sail across the bridge for view and even if you're headed to other places in the bay area. >> it's going to be a grit weekend for everyone in town. 4:44. we saw a sunshine splashed golden gate park yesterday for 420. not that anyone there was really noticing, but it was good weather. >> we had awesome weather. didn't matter whats you were doing. we're going to see more of that as we go through the next couple days. there will be more clouds in the mix, and a change in our temperatures as well. as we get a live look outside over this view of san francisco, the transamerica pyramid. we're all clear, and for once, it's die as you head out the door. we're also seeing the same in san jose with temperature trend that starts out later this morning at 66 degrees at 11:00, and then seeing the temperatures quickly making it into the mid to upper 70s.

our average high is 70 degrees so we are going above that for this afternoon as we get a look at some more of those numbers. we're up to 79 in san jose. east san jose up to 80 degrees, and morgan hill will be at 81 degrees, and the seven-day forecast is now coming up at the bottom of the screen. we'll see that we will have several more days of sunshine heading into at least early next week. we're up to 80 degrees in danville today and livermore up to 78 degrees. oakland, 73, and in san mateo, 73 degrees there. mission district seeing a high of 69 degrees and 77 today in novato. as we get a look once again at san jose, we are going to see one of those days where you need a hoodie and a t-shirt. and maybe some shorts too because we will have the kind of weather that quickly warms up, but you want something to keep you warm, at least for the morning hours. and then for tomorrow, we're watching this cluster of clouds, the sorm system that will be moving in. now it's going to be very weak,

and it will not bring rain to the bay area. a lot of showers will stay to the north of us, but it will bring a drop in temperatures increased cloud cover. we see clouds moving in and it clears out by sunday. it will help bring our temperatures down. some filtered sunshine for tomorrow, and then for early next week, still looking dry until tuesday. especially for the afternoon as we will get another system moving in that could bring us a chance of showers starting out on tuesday into wednesday. and then it moves out on thursday. so as we get a look at that seven-day forecast, warm weather for today in san francisco, up to 69 degrees. some sun coming through the clouds, but it will be a mostly cloudy day tomorrow and up to 64 degrees. for tomorrow, also going to see for the inland spots up to 72 degrees and on sunday, we'll bring it up to 67 degrees and next week, still those showers in the forecast for tuesday afternoon into wednesday. and we'll see our highs a little

cooler than average for this time of year. as we get a look at how the roads are going so far this morning, we have had a couple issues out there. in the tri-valley, we saw a report of a hit and run on 580. as of now, it looks like there are no injuries and no major issues as far as slowing there. looking at the bridge drive times, eight minutes on the bay bridge. the san mateo bridge at 12 minutes, and the dumbarton bridge at 11 minutes. let's get a look at the san mateo bridge right now. looks pretty good. still a little more people getting out there on the roadways on this friday morning. make it a safe one. and we'll check back in and see what else is going on in a few minutes. kris and sam. >> thank you, kari. 4:47 now. business and tech news. tesla recalling thousands of model s and model x cars worldwide to fix a parking brake issue. >> major snag for the surging company. for that and the rest of the news before the bell, we turn to landon dowdy from cnbc's world

headquarters on this friday. good morning, landon. >> sam and kris, good friday morning. wall street will look to add to thursday's rally today. earnings reports and comments from steven mnuchin, who says the trump administration is close to major tax reform and the white house will unveil a plan soon. analysts say if there is some sort of tax reform deal this year, it would be positive for stocks. you want to look for data on housing. the dow rising 174 points to 20,578. the nasdaq hitting a new record high, up 53 to 5916. meanwhile, tesla is recalling 53,000 model s and model x cars worldwide to fix an issue with the parking brake. no issues or injuries have been reported. tesla produced a total of just under 84,000 vehicles in 2016. >> and uber is reportedly extending its internal

cars right now headed to the bay bridge toll plaza, but we know that will most certainly change in the next 30 or 40 minutes. certainly hoping for some friday light. beautiful weather in store. kari hall will get into that in two minutes. >> 4:53. the man police say went on a hate crime shooting spree in fresno will be arraigned today. cow corey ali mohammed will face a judge for the first time. police say he killed three white men after learning he was wanted in another killing of a motel security officer. police say the 39-year-old ex-convict selected his victims randomly but because they were white in tuesday's attack. 4:53 right now. happening today, authorities along with concerned friends and family trying to locate a man who people that know him say is currently battling depression. they're looking for 21-year-old bobby o'leary. police say he ran from security workers who spotted him tuesday

we'll take a look at the bay area forecast coming up in a few minutes, and we'll also be talking about traffic in a few. >> all right, kari, thank you very much. >> 5:00 on the dot right now. breaking news out of france. we have learned within the last hour the name of the gunman behind a deadly terror attack in france. police say that kareem shaufry is behind the rampage that killed a police officer and injured two other officers and a passer-by. we're also getting new video of overnight raids for a possible accompli accomplice. all of this taking place in a town east of paris where police believe the gunmen may have lived. isis has claimed responsibility for the attack. also this morning, the popular tourist destination where the attack happened is back open. within the last hour, president donald trump responding to the attack in paris saying, quote, another terrorist attack in paris. the people of france will not take much more of this. will have a big affect on presidential election. >> 5:00 on the dot right now. new this
