dallas/ft. worth. the mother is seen trying while holding her baby. witnesses say that woman was trying to find overhead bin space for her stroller and possibly didn't understand when the flight attendant took the stroller from her. in the process he reportedly hit the woman and nearly hit her 8-year-old child. another passenger stepped in to defend that woman and demanded to know the name of the male flight attendant which led to this. >> i'll knock you flat. >> you stay out of this. >> the airline has suspended that flight attendant while it investigates. american told nbc bay area, quote, we have seen the video and have already started an investigation to obtain the facts. we are deeply sorry for the pain we have cause td this passenger and her family. american airlines says they upgraded the woman and her family to first class for the rest of their international travels. this of course comes less than two weeks after a man was brutally dragged off of a united airlines flight. for continuing coverage of this

streetlights were out. it snarled traffic. cable cars were also impacted. people were trapped in elevators. businesses closed early for the day sending thousands of workers home at the same time. critics of pg & e say the equipment failure is a result of failed maintenance. they are supposed to run to failure instead of upgrading the equipment and making sure it doesn't cause a problem it's just cheap toer to get the mone not spend it on improvements, run the equipment until it fails and then deal with the failure then. >> pg & e disagree with that. all power by the way was restored about eight hours later. photos from our viewers flooded into our newsroom during that outage. kelly hernandez sent this photo of crews trying to fix the problem. this photo, grid locked traffic

california has been warned by the justice department, get with the plan or pay a price. that's the blunt reminder to sanctuary cities. attorney general jeff sessions is here in california hammering that message on behalf of president trump. sessions says cities and counties that fail to comply with federal immigration laws will be denied federal grants. that message comes as san francisco and santa clara county have filed suit against president trump's executive order. >> if they're talking about taking federal money away. what they're talking about is impacting our county hospital that has over 800,000 visits a year. they're talking about taking resources away from foster children or senior nutrition programs. >> bay area leaders say they will continue to provide sank sanctuary to undocumented immigrants. this we could tens of thousands be expected to be packed into san jose.

. welcome back. it's 7:15. beautiful skies over san jose on this earth day. at 9:00 this morning in san jose is the autism speaks walk and our own carrie hall will be emceeing that event. now to a daring cliff rescue. this man was stuck on this cliff in san francisco. the php brought in their helicopter, harnessed the man and lifted him to the safety. he said he was hiking and lost track of where he was. there is a big debate over train tracks that go to nowhere. the tracks haven't even been used in 80 years. today in the bay jill joes show

what happens next. >> reporter: the small napa county town of calistoga is big on his history. but the nostalgia for its past recently hit a fork in the road over 170 feet of old abandoned train tracks. the stretch of old rail embedded in a road traces back to 1905 and the electric train line that up until 1937 carried tourists. >> the track have more importance to the history than just pieces of steel in the street. >> some see it as a link to the town's early days. >> it put us on the map. >> the problem is the beat up road bearing these tracks past the city's fire stations.

>> it's chew ed up. >> so mayor chris canning and the city council pursued what they thought was an idea of paving the roads. >> then we said what about the tracks. >> and that became a fast train to a town biwide debate. but to repave the road and then reinstall the tracks would add $80,000 to the construction tab. >> for community of our size, it's pretty significant. >> the town ended up hiring a historian to see if the tracks were even worth saving. >> and that historian stated that they were not historically significance. other people felt otherwise. >> the city finally reached what it felt was a compromise. it will tear out the tracks and store them and possibly reinstall them down the road sometime down the road.

north bay 48 degrees. it is earth day, so happy earth day. i hope you're splantiplanting s trees. i still have high hopes of having a garden this year. 7:00 a.m. we're in the 40s, then up into the 60s by about 1:00. 67 in walnut creek. definitely going to warm up nicely. it's going to be a great spring day fch day. if you're heading out to march for science in san jose at 11:00, here's a quick look at what you can expect. they're going to meet up at san jose city hall and then walk downtown. it's going to be a festival ongoing all day long. it's going to be perfect. by 12:00, we'll keep the majority of the sunshine. fast forward to about 3:00, we'll see an increase in cloud cover. if you're heading to san francisco for march for science, you can expect to see an increase in cloud cover at about

2:00 f. you notice, through the lunch hour it stays fairly nice out there. it's not going to be too cloudy where it's going to ruin your outdoor plans, but it's definitely going to be a little overcast within the next couple of hours. if you're heading over to berkeley to march for science, they're actually holding their event later at night. it's not going to be a day event. their event starts at 4:00. definitely pack a sweater and jacket. 62 degrees at about 3:00. right around the start 62. then if you notice a temperature trend kind of declines and goes sboo t into the 50s. pack accordingly. another thing to pack is allergy medicine. we're expecting high tree poll len count. that little bit of rain we saw definitely helped clear out some of the pollen. we are expecting to see that move in overnight. that's going to bring slight rain chances to more along the north bay. so if you look, sunday at about 6:00 a.m. you can barely see a couple of those rain cells.

that's going to bring a very light chance of some drizzle in the north bay and possibly along the coastline. but yes, more rain is on the way. just looking ahead into the upcoming workweek. by monday at about 3:30 the north bay begins to see a good chance of rain and our best chance of rain is going to come monday night into tuesday overnight hours. we can expect to see an increase in that cloud cover as we head into tuesday. and wednesday. and yes, it looks like that cloud cover will be lingering. at least it's not going to be significant amounts of rain. it's going to be very light traces. the next seven days we can see that cold front kind of cool us down into the 50s. 59 degrees. about a 30% chance of rain he heading into tuesday. by thursday and friday, inland areas can also expect to see the chance of some showers as we head into tuesday. nice little combination of sun and clouds into saturday. tomorrow it's going to be cooler than today. happy earth day.

entire life she's been serious about playing soccer. she's never kicked a soccer ball with as much purpose as she does these days. alex is testing them to see which one is the best fit for her ultimate goal. >> i'm one person with an idea and i took action. and the action has snowballed into a beautiful project. >> reporter: alex's project began of all places at the thanksgiving dinner table with her family a few years ago. syrian ref juiugees had been in news a lot around that time. a crisis half a world away alex thought until her mother put it in perspective. >> mom said if your grandfather didn't come to this country as a small child, we could all be syrian refugees. >> those refugees were no longer strangers from a distant land and they needed her help. but how? >> and so i just asked for something. i said what is the thing i could

do to help these refugees make a difference? soccer hit my consciousness. it was like, get the balls. >> reporter: alex knew from her previous travels around the world that a soccer ball can do magic when it comes to breaking down barriers and sparking joy. >> these are going to go to the camps and the kids. >> reporter: so she rounded up do na donations and arranged for 750 soccer balls to be manufactured and delivered to a hotel room in gro greece why she and some friends would deliver them to refugee camps. it was a lot of planning that went just according to plan. >> we just started playing together for the next hour. a bunch of boys came over and we all started playing and laughing. it was great. >> reporter: alex understands that soccer balls are not necessary for a refugee survival. still, she says they can be
