it is monday morning and we're looking live at san francisco to jump start your monday. the embarkcadero in the camera and the giants back in town to take on the rival dodgers at at sknrx t. i'm kris sanchez in for laura garcia-cannon. >> i'm sam brock. dodgers, like newman. they're back again. we're pretty dry to start on our monday. >> yes, for some spots. we had light sprinkles here and there, but nothing major. this is about what we'll see as we go through the day. a few clouds and also some clear skies, as we get a live look outside. as we see the temperature now in the peninsula is 54 degrees. that's not a live camera in the

tri-valley. a few clouds there, and 52 degrees in the north bay. also 52 right now as you step out in san francisco. we'll see the highs today reaching the mid 60s, but yeah, we will have cloudy skies and at times light rain, but nothing that should ruin your outdoor plans. we'll talk about what to expect through the week as we see more spotty rain moving in. we'll talk about that. heading over to mike now, let's get an update on the roads. >> looking well. making up for my slow start this morning. thank you very much, but i want to take you over toward a slower start for south 680. a crash earlier this morning at mission boulevard, mission north. chp may have just cleared that through the incident report just a couple minutes ago. still a little slow between mission north and mission south. that's about it. you're at speed. we'll show row the rest of the commute coming up. >> 4:31, and new this morning, scary moments that could have ended a lot worse in walnut

creek. in case you can't make that out, that is a car that plowed into a home, nearly through, after firefighters say the driver failed to negotiate a turn. it happened just before midnight. the family woke to that thunderous crash and then found the car literally driven through their living room. no one was hurt, if you can believe that, and that includes the driver. authorities are trying to figure out whether speed was a factor. pete suratos is on scene. he'll have a live report at 5:00, including reaction from that homeowner. >> incredible story that nobody was hurt there. again, more details to come. >> happening today, plug in and go. b.a.r.t. is unveiling one of the largest electrical vehicle charging stations in the area. >> this program is a pilot and going up at the warm springs station, that beautiful station. bob redell is there with a preview of what we can expect and who gets to charge and for how long, bob. >> good morning. 22 electrical vehicle charging

stations that you can see behind me that are capable of charging 44 cars at once here at the warm springs b.a.r.t. station in fremont. in a couple hours, the transit agency will unveil this parking lot which has been here since the station opened a number of weeks ago. b.a.r.t. is doing an unaofficial opening today in honor of earth day. this is the only bafrt station with charging stations that happen to be powered during the day. there are solar panels on top of that car port. that powers the stations during the day. as you mentioned, this is a pilot program. b.a.r.t. is trying to see how many commuters use the chargers and if there's a lot of demand, they could expand this to other stations in the system. the cost of using one of these is included ipyour $6 parking fee. bob redell, today in the bay. >> interesting concept there. thank you very much.

4:33, and travelers nightmare at san francisco international airport this weekend. sfo canceled and delayed almost 200 flights as crews there were repaving the airport's longest runway. officials say that fliers can still expect for more than two months, at least 40 flights have already been cancelled today. this will be an ongoing issue. improvements to the runway started late last month. officials warned delays and cancellations could get bad on high travel days. some fliers ended up waiting hours trying to find flights that weren't delayed, canceled, or booked. >> here four hours and couldn't get a flight until 24 hours later. >> certain sections of sfo began renovati vagzs last year, and construction is supposed to last through 2024. >> a long time. >> a peninsula man accused of killing and dismembering his neighbor is expected to be arraigned. last month, david stubblefield shot and killed his 77-year-old

neighbor. they say he then cut up the body and left the remains in buckets to decompose behind his home. the shooting sprung from a dispute over the price of a space heater that the suspect agreed to sell. >> a rude awakening for a man who pulled off the road for a nap early sunday along napa's silverado trail. firefighters say he sparked a dry brush fire with his car. fortunately, that driver woke up in time to get out safely, but the car is a total loss. >> lucky to be alive. 4:35. coming up next, keeping the peace at a wedding. three minutes, we'll look at why san jose police officers were dispatched to a reception after reports of fighting spilling into the streets. >> plus, back online. the critical emergency services san jose that was disrupted over the weekend. a night of bliss turned violent

4:38 right now. a night of bliss turned violent in san jose this weekend. this morning, police are investigating a bloody brawl that happened at a wedding reception on saturday night. officers say when they arrived at this event hall on 27th street, so many people were involved in the foyt that it spilled into the streets. took police more than an hour to finally gain control of the situation. even though several people were bleeding at one point, guests were throwing glass bottles at one another. only one person was taken to the hospital for care. an event planner who regularly

books events at this place says he was surprised to learn what happened. >> never heard of anything like that. we do have several venues here on site. yes, people get crazy, people come outside, but never had an issue, especially with being protected by the san jose police department. >> he added the hall does require clients to hire off-duty police officers to provide security. san jose police have not announced any arrests in the incident. >> back online, the san jose police department's 911 call center is back to normal this morning after an alarming technical glitch. this weekend. listen to this. the center was unable to receive 911 calls for two hours between 1:00 and 3:00 sunday afternoon. during that disruption, callers dialing 911 were instructed to call another different number. no reason yet has been given for that disruption. happening today, a forum on the tracks to talk about the

caltrain electrification project, jackie speier will discuss trying to secure pending grants. it's ultimately up to the trump administration to say yes to get that money. for the next three days, through travel is not going to be allowed in san mateo county. the woodside road is closed from aths:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. the reason why is storm drain and repair work. local traffic doesn't have to worry about it. the road will stay open on both sides, but nonemergency traffic will not get through between these scheduled times. >> 4:40 now, and coming up, we're looking at your work week forecast with a tiny look forward to the weekend. >> yeah, we've got some cloudy skies and some spotty rain out there this morning. and we will have a chance of some light showers as we go through the day. we'll talk about this and, yeah, looking ahead to the rest of the week and weekend coming up next. >> and right here, we're looking at fremont, easy drive for 880

welcome back. 4:43 right now. and not so much traffic out there on the golden gate bridge. it is a monday. i have a feeling, a sneaking suspicion things will pick up as the day goes along. mike, you'll have to inform us on that. >> kari, it is drier than we saw last week. >> at least to start this morning. but we may see that rain creeping back in to the bay area. we're not done with that yet. it will be very light. we're not expecting any significant heavy rain. as we take a live look outside once again at the golden gate bridge. all dry to start. it's 54 degrees in san jose. palo alto and in san francisco, we have 62 degrees right now in livermore and morgan hill is at 62 degrees. fairfield, 53. i said 60, didn't i? going to be in the 60s today. 65 degrees in san jose and 64 in east san jose along milpitas. also at 64 degrees.

danville today, 65. we're looking at some low to mid 60s today. and this is actually a little cooler than where we should be for the end of april. but i think we'll take it. we'll have a few peeks of sunshine here and there. mission district today, 63 degrees. 63 in mill valley. that's the seven-day forecast. scrolls at the bottom of the screen, you'll be able to see where and when we'll have the rain. after the next couple days, we'll dry things out. as you're getting ready to head out the door for this morning, it's the kind of day where you will need a hat and a nice jacket to keep you warm and dry as we'll start to see showers moving in. here's a system to the north of us, still bringing some light rain well to the north of us, around eureka. as it starts to move in by 9:00 this morning, into the north bay, we'll see this mostly over marin and sonoma counties, and then also right there along the coastline, but not expecting heavy downpours, and it will be in and out fairly quickly, as you see the rain moving in even

later on this evening, a slight chance of spotty showers moving through, and then clearing out late tonight before another light system moves in by tomorrow evening. looking at the rainfall totals, for most of the bay area, about a quarter inch or less. maybe about a tenth of an inch in the south bay. really not expecting much. as we go through the week, we're looking at temperatures in the lower 60s, and then look at this weekend. highs in the 70s for san francisco. if it's in the 70s in san francisco, you know it's going to be warm for the valley. check that out. it's going to be at about 80 degrees on sunday. we're looking ahead to the weekend with some dry and warmer weather after this cool start to the work week. how is it looking on the roads, mike? >> pretty cool on the roadways as well. an easy start for most of the bay. we had that crash in sunol that did clear as you're heading down toward fremont. another now in milpitas, southbound 880 at the 237 connector, but no slowing shows up. should be off to the shoulder. but a distraction and slowing

chance today. nintendo has stopped making the device, but best buy said they'll be available at their stores. they will be first come first serve while the limited supplies last, with some of the stores doing a ticketing process before the doors open. >> and panera is expecting their delivery service with plans to hire 10,000 drivers by the end of the year. the company, which is being brought by theoper of krispy kre kreme, says delivery will be available in 40% of its stores this year, and customers will be able to track their orders online. panera will deliver lunch and dinner seven days a week between 11:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. with a $5 minimum order and $3 delivery fee. back to you. >> we'll see how it works out. thank you very much. >> the bay area already known for its trend setting ways, apparently, that is also true when it comes to defining what constitutes low income. the mercury news reporting the bay area is the department of

confirmed 58-year-old tony kim, who taught accounting there, was picked up by authorities at the state's international airport. north korea is holding two other u.s. citizens, a college student from cincinnati and a 62-year-old business man. >> it's now been one week since a missing bay area couple has been seen, and this morning's search efforts are continuing. mark and brenda richard from santa rosa took off in a single engine plane from the truckee tahoe airport last monday and haven't been seen since. the couple was aboard a small airplane scheduled to land at the petaluma airport. search crews in three planes and also on the ground spent the weekend scouring an area roughly 20 miles northwest of truckee. they're looking in that area because radar tracking and cell phone forensics pointed them there. >> we'll keep you updated on that. >> in the meantime, amazing weather over the weekend. a little cooler, too, kari. mild to start your monday. >> mild to start. and as we get ready for this evening, at at&t park, the
