great weekend ahead in terms of weather -- let )s get started - you )re it's finally friday. we have a great weekend ahead in terms of weather. let's get it all started. you're watching today in the bay at 4:30. good morning to you. thanks for joining us. i'm laura garcia-cannon. >> i'm sam brock. say no more. we have everybody in the right mind set right now. it is friday. we're really looking forward to this weekend's forecast. >> a nigh one, as you said. a lot of sunshine. that's what we need. also warmer temperatures. we're making plans already as you get ready to head out the door, it's fairly cool to start out with temperatures in the upper 40s and low 50s. a look at the tri-valley camera at pleasanton, 47 degrees. and it's 50 degrees right now in the north bay. as we head out the door, we're expecting those high temperatures to reach into the low to mid 70s today.

also some gusty winds kicking up in san francisco. expect a high temperature to reach into the upper 60s. as we head over to mike, starting out with a crash in san mateo. >> we are. early morning crash first reported in one direction. chp said, no, on the northbound side, not the southbound side. right around hillsdale boulevard. no major injuries, but this is what's going on as you make the merge, 101 to the split. we're also showing speeds and travel times tharnd bay looking great, and also on the rails no problems for b.a.r.t. and ace train no problems this morning. yesterday, we had signal problems out of stockton. i'll follow train 1 as it comes to the area. >> thank you very much. >> we're following breaking news in contra costa county. a situation going on since yesterday afternoon. a several hours long standoff continuing between police and the shooting suspect. new video of the suspect firing a shot. >> it all started in walnut creek yesterday afternoon after a woman was shot and killed.

right now, the suspect has barricaded himself in a car in martinez. pete suratos joins us live from the scene with the latest. good morning, pete. >> reporter: good morning to you, laura and sam. i want to take you to where the car is right now. it's here in martinez on the outskirts of this chevron station in the area. as you guyed mentioned, at one point, you could hear gunshots during the standoff. >> all right. very active scene in martinez this morning. we'll keep pete on the scene as we continue to check back on the progress there. it's 4:32. >> also new this morning, three san francisco officers recovering from their injuries

after their vehicles crashed. happened about 11:00 last night. according to officials. two police cars collided at 15th and mission. they were responding to a call for backup. all three were sent to the hospital. none have life threatening injuries. >> happening later today, a major flood meeting in san jose. that includes leaders from the santa clara water district and the san jose city council. topics include an overview of water topics in general and the video you're looking at that no one in this area will forget for a long time, the historic coyote creek flooding. >> in the meantime, san jose office has been assisting with financial help for the victims of the flooding. it's closing today. victims can still apply supercertain kinds of help. the deadline for property assistance damage is not until may 15th and injury applications will be assessmented until december. >> it's president trump's 99th

day in office. and he'll spend part of the day at the annual nra convention in atlanta. more than 80,000 people are expected to attend that three-day event. also, president trump will be hosting a leadership forum today to discuss gun rights and the semd amendment. the nra was an early and fierce supporter of trump. >> meantime, lawmakers and the trump administration have until midnight tonight to reach an agreement on the spending bill. if they don't, the federal government will shut down. pundits believe lawmakers will vote on a one-week continuing resolution to keep the government going for now. >> continuing coverage right now on b.a.r.t. crimes. numbers to back up what our eyeballs have been showing us. a 22% spike in crime in just the last three months on b.a.r.t. that is according to the agency's police, which that information was made public during a rare b.a.r.t. board meeting. the cribs mainly include robberies and assaults stemming

from robberies. this comes after a mob of teenagers hopped the fares, jumped on the station and robs passengers. >> a b.a.r.t. santa clara expansion is ahead of schedule because of the drought. california was dry for five straight years, construction crews took advantage of the extra sunshine. they were able to work longer and more consistently. on the new b.a.r.t. stations in san jose and milpitas without getting delays by wet weather. because of this, they may be able to open those stations six month early, but then the train tracks still need to be tested. any issues could delay the opening curlily slated for december. >> if there's one tiny detail that can't be verified, we need to stop, figure out what the problem is, fix it, go back, and test the whole system genl. >> the milpitas station will have 1200 parking stations and potentially 120 charging stations for electric vehicles. >> the 49ers and raiders are looking to the future. the nfl draft will continue with round two of picks.

area. =taai expensive as it may be, there's been a lot of home buying and selling in the bay area. sales for the region hit a five-year high in march. alameda county saw a 10.6% increase from last year. santa clara county sales jumpedate.4%. in san francisco, it's a different story. sales dropped. march numbers were down 5.3% from last year. median home prices in the bay area also creeping up to match last year's prices which were all time highs. >> 4:40. good news for muni riders. the j church line is back to norman on monday. the examiner reporting riders no longer to have transfer during late-night rides. the altered service so muni could add a set of tracks. the first set of new vehicles should arrive through 2018 while

40 more could come in by 2020. talking about muni, it also wants a bet way for riders for plan out their rides. >> in january, conflict with at&t left them unable to plan out their routes for a month. they want a new version of the system that will avoid that issue by acting on a different network. >> don't know if we mentioned this or not. it's friday. it's really nice going into the weekend. the temperature really starting to heat up. >> really warming up for most of the bay area. if you plan on hitting the links today at half moon bay, it will be a cool start, and temperatures reaching into the upper 50s. a lot of sunshine in the forecast. we'll take a look across all of the bay area microclimate on the other side of the break. >> and a live look here at the peninsula. palo alto, 101 moves well. a crash at 101 at hillsdale not causing a problem for the bay shore freeway but i'll show you

good friday morning. i'm landon dowdy at cnbc headquarters. here's today's top business headlines. wall street could be followed by earnings reports today. stocks ending mostly flat yesterday. the nasdaq closed at a record high. the dow is set for its best record of the year. you want to look for the first

report that may show that the economy slowed this winter. the dow rising six points to 20,981. the nasdaq up 23. also watch shares of amazon and alphabet, the parent company of google, today. they both reported much better than expected earnings last night. amazon was boosted by its cloud and retail business as well as amazon prime members. the stock hit an all-time high in extended trading. alp alphabet showing a surge in earnings as its business continues to grow at an extraordinary rate, and problems such as the advertiser boycott of youtube had little effect. >> and starbucks says stay tuned. the unicorn frappuccino drove significant customer traffic to its stores. in fact, starbucks ceo saying the company will launch at least one new drink into happy hour this year that is going to be as good as the unicorn or even

better. >> or so they say. we'll see. you'll be the judge of that. >> we'll do taste testing. i saw it getting panned on social media. it's interesting to see that change. thank you very much. >> talk about a sugar high. >> no kidding. >> the giants were on a high of having beaten the dodgers for a couple games. not the case yesterday unfortunately. quiet morning at at&t park. i'm with you, this was an awesome experience. i was there yesterday. it was awesome, until it wend into extra innings. that's when the dodgers ending up tacking on four runs. they beat the orange and black 5-1. the game was tied 1-1. here's some of the highlights going into extras and then everything imploded for the giants. when l.a. scored four runs. they split the series, though, 2-2. definitely a moral victory of sorts for a team struggling to come out of the gate. >> right after that is when you told me you went home at like 4:00 and went to bed. >> i did go to bed at 4:00. i slept ten hours. i feel like a new man. >> one of these things is not

like the other. one of these things doesn't have kid. >> exactly. that's the reason why. we had take your kids to work yesterday. i have so much respect for what you all go through every day. it's fun to play with them, but you have to take them home and take care of them. >> and feed them. >> college down the road, all sorts of things to worry about. >> stressing me out now. >> it's friday. let's ease into this weekend and hopefully we'll be able to get a little sleep here. we are going to have some great weather, and we're starting out with some clear skies with a live view of san francisco right now. and it's been a cool start. it's 51 degrees now in morgan hill. 50 degrees in palo alto and san francisco. and 46 degrees again this morning in napa with highs today reaching into the mid to upper 70s. it's going to be even warmer than yesterday. but once that onshore flow kicks in, it's going to start to cool down quite quickly as we go into this evening. we're up to 75 degrees in palo

alto. oakland, 74. 79 in napa and santa rosa, and san francisco looking at a high today of skathd degrees. it will also be fairly windy. we start out with those breezes coming in from the north. at about 10 to 15 miles per hour. but it does get stronger as we go through the day. especially right there along the coastline. san francisco, sustained winds at 23 miles per hour as we head through the evening commute. and then for the inland areas, wind speeds at 15 to 20 miles per hour. this is as we transition from cooler to warmer weather. and it will be a warm afternoon, so as we get a look at how to dress for today, bringing it into the closet, definitely have a hat to keep the hair all together with those breezy winds. and some short sleeves for the cooler temperatures -- for the warmer temperatures we will feel today. if you're heading to russian river valley for the weekend, it's going to be a nice one. up to 79 degrees tomorrow. 78 degrees on sunday. and then as we get ready to head back to work on monday, seeing high temperatures in the lower 80s.

in san francisco, we're looking at upper 60s today, up to 68 degrees. then 70s by the end of next week. we have mid 70s in san francisco, the inlnchd areas will be much warmer. almost 90 degrees by the middle of next week. get ready, summer is coming in a snap. and as you head out the door, you're avoiding what's happening now in the south bay. >> i hope you avoid it. good morning, folks. speed senseers around the bay look great. we take you to the south bay, and again, yes, still tracking that crash affecting only the hillsdale off-ramp from northbound 101. here's southbound 17. the transition onto 85, there's a ladder reported in the lane. chp warned us about it. folks can avoid that one portion of one lane here in the south bay. i want to show you our waze system and show you something cool. even though traffic is light, let's say you're going from castro valley over toward palo alto. some folks might want to immediately gets across the san mateo bridge.

there was like a hot, hot little logo on a couple days. that's pretty cool. >> is it cool or hot? >> it's going to feel like summer. i don't know if i'm ready yet because it seems like it was just winter yesterday. well, we're going to have a quick transition over to some warmer weather over the next few days. but let's get started right now on this friday morning as you get ready to head out. here's a look at the current temperatures. it's 44 degrees in napa. 45 in livermore, and 51 now in san jose. i want to show you the temperature trend for san jose going throughout the morning, we're in the mid 50s. by lunchtime, already up to 68 degrees. and it will be a warm and breezy day. we'll take a look ahead coming up in a few minutes. mike's hearing about a delay for b.a.r.t. >> unspecified delay. we'll mark it as minor right now. developing out of the lake merritt station. the rest of the agencies reporting no problems. this will be in oakland as you're traveling down toward the dublin pleasanton line or also continuing down toward the warm
