city. on this saturday morning. april 29th. dylan, you do rock. >> thank you. >> we'll head outside in just a bit. back inside. let's look at the stories making headlines this morning. president trump is marking his first 100 days in office today. with a big foreign crisis, north korea, the rogue nation test-firing yet another missile in defiance of the president's warning of a possibility of a major conflict one day earlier. the president slammed the north koreans on twitter. the nsa says it's going to stop a controversial email collecti collection. the agency will collect communications directly to or from those targets. the move is being welcomed by privacy advocates across the country this morning. and the fbi is investigating a potential breach of the upcoming season of netflix' hit series, "orange is the new black." a hacker called the dark overlord claims he was able to

this morning a major portion of highway 101 is back open after it was closed for nearly 8 hours following a deadly shooting. shot and killed a man armed with a handgun. happened after 5:30 in rush hour traffic. that man report through got out of car and began shooting. our nbc bay area provided these pictures of gridlock on 101 just south of highway 92. it was completely shutdown until just before 2 this morning. >> the investigation takes precedence. we need investigator to be able to get the clearest picture they can. >> it's unclear what aideled tot shooting. the man's identity has not yet been released. >> one day after cancelled speech in berkeley appeared as planned in modesto. greeted the conservative speaker last night. her appearance in the central valley comes on heels of

detected the launch at 5:33 a.m. local time this morning. from a site north of pyongyang. two u.s. military officials tell nbc news the missile was a medium-range ballistic missile. and that it fell apart a couple of minutes into flight. exploding in mid air, about 20 miles from the launch site. this morning no mention of this launch in north korean state media. craig? >> kelly, thank you. nbc's kelly o'donnell is live at the white house where the trump administration is watching the situation closely while marking its 100th day in office as well. kelly, good morning to you. >> good morning, craig. on day 100 the president is going to take another step that is really one of the most identifiable kinds of accomplishments in his early administration, the executive order. he will sign another one today in pennsylvania, that deals with starting to look at all trade agreements, that's been a big theme for this administration. then he will head to the familiar surroundings of a campaign rally.

and based on his rhetoric, even the last few days, he's already looking to the next election. despite all the attention around trump's 100 days in office, friday, at the national rifle association convention, the president relished his inner candidate. >> november 8th. wasn't that a great evening? do you remember that evening? >> embraced by the nra audience, president trump jabbed at a possible 2020 opponent. with his campaign trail insult of progressive senator, elizabeth warren. >> no, sir, no thank you. no, ma'am, it may be pocahontas, remember that. >> president trump used his address to the mega-gun lobby to criticize his predecessor. >> the eight-year assault on your second amendment freed oms has come to a crashing end. >> the start of the trump administration, a mix of confidence -- >> it's a false standard, the

people on board were shaken, but not hurt. another case of nerves of steel. this time, on the golf course, check this out. that's kelly craft, lining up a shot, with an alligator just cooley sizing him up for a possible snack. the pros are in louisiana this weekend for the zurich classic, where gators and golfers are learning they have to share the links. did that ever happen to you out there on the links? >> no, but geese freak me out enough. your ball lands where the geese are. they're terrifying creatures. >> they are and they feel like the golf course is theirs. dylan is here with the forecast, with the big storm that's got 40 million people in its path. >> the biggest concern will be for torrential downpours, we've seen heavy rain fall in oklahoma, where cars were trying to drive through some of the flooded waters. you never should do that. because you just can't tell how deep it is. switching over to indiana, some of those storms produced enough lightning to trig they are house fire. that lightning is very dangerous, so even if the storm isn't considered severe near you, as soon as you hear that

thunder, you want to take precautions and get inside. we have a lot of cloud-to-ground lightning moving through oklahoma, flood warnings through southern missouri. flash flood watches in effect throughout the day. this front is moving eastward, as it does, it's running into very moist air. you'll notice the humidity out there. and that means that they could produce some really heavy downpours and that's why we're seeing the threat of flooding. we could see as much as three to four inches of rain with some areas picking up six to eight inches of rain and that's what could lead to some of the flooding through the course of the day today. some isolated severe storms are possible. on the back side of the front, temperatures are very cold. heavy snow falling in places like denver, where we could see five to seven inches of snow. and then on sunday the severe threat pushes east. not widespread, but we still could see some look accident back to san francisco across the golden gate
