know, supporting trying to control it but also aware of the real consequences for people. >> reporter: this was held not coincidentally on the 100th day of mr. trump's presidency. not success is achieved to a lot of the people. some folks specifically talking about this lake and the water that people are able to enjoy today and other days which could be damaged if more of these protections are just cut by the president. we are live in oakland. >> tom, thanks. the largest are march happened in washington, d.c. as tens of thousands of people gathered in front of the u.s. capitol building and made their way to the washington monument. in denver, people marching through snow. covered streets at civic center park. demonstrators held signs and chanted climate change is real.

and in chicago marchers gathering in the rain. members of the union representing the jiermt tall protection agency. the president has proposed massive cuts to the epa budget. >> this is a live picture of the rally being held to mark the president's 100 days in office. as you can see, the rally active. they're waiting for donald trump to take the stand. about three minutes ago he was supposed to do that. with this is controversial. the president is holding this rally instead of attending the correspondent's dinner. nbc bay area joining us with the ups and downs of the president's first 100 days in office. >> reporter: definitely unpredictable. you may remember on the campaign trail candidate donald trump said fixing the nation's problems would be a piece of cake. as president he's admitting the job is harder than he

anticipated. >> i don't think anybody has done what we have been able to do in 100 days. we're very happy. >> reporter: this is video of the president before his rally in harrisburg. that is paid for by his campaign in harrisburg. president trump is giving high marks for his first 100 days but political scientist says the president has just one major accomplishment so far, appointing neil gorsuch to the supreme court. >> either on hold or in a very preliminary stage or hasn't even been attempted. >> he says during his first 100 days mr. trump has failed in several key areas, we placing obamacare, having his travel ban blocked twice and firing his national security adviser after two weeks on the job and his administration is under fbi investigation for possible ties to russia. but the president praise for both parties for standing out to the rashad regime in syria.

winds for us instead of the typical ocean air conditioning we get. we are seeing humidity levels in the east and south bay at 20% or less. ordinarily the this would be a concern for fire danger but given the rain we have had, the hillsides still pretty green. nothing green on the radar. no clouds out there. the storm track has been off to the north for the weekend and as we head through the next five days, we'll see warmer temperatures. we could get close to upper 80s in a few spots as this warm wave or heat wave ramps up into next week and we'll talk about more off shore gusty winds and the potential for rain in the seven-day forecast in about 12 minutes. >> thank you so much. remember, you can check that forecast for your specific neighborhood with our free nbc bay area app. click on the weather tab to get updates for where you are. a developing story in the east bay. a man's body found in the waters. police say they got a call about

something floating in the water. sheriff's deputies arrived two hours later and found a man dead. investigators say the death is suspicious but they're waiting for the coroner for the exact cause of death. the breaking news last night on nbc bay air. highway 101 now open. the investigation did not just impact the drivers stuck for hours. the people are speaking out about what they saw. nbc bay area is live. you just got an update from police? >> reporter: yeah. there's a police press conference behind me. i got an advance way before the reporters are learning what they're learning. this is what i know. police say this all began as a vehicle collision and escalated to an altercation involving a handgun. the other person in the other vehicle, a 55-year-old woman from the east bay, she was not hurt. police are not releasing the name of the gunman until his family is notified but now we

have a clear picture from neighbors, witnesses who were in the area when this was happening of what exactly happened. >> i put my computer on the tv live, the live version. so we literally were sitting here and can watch what was going on on the other side of the freeway. >> the chp shooting practically in her backyard. her only protection, the highway sound wall. she could hear the police standoff moment by moment involving an armed driver. >> the cops telling the person to put their gun down. put it down over and over again. just on the loud speaker and then verbally we could hear them shouting it and then finally just loud boom twice. >> reporter: the shooting on friday evening backed up traffic for seven hours on 101 and highway 92. three officers arrived on the scene and opened fire. none were hurt. >> what we know about the beginning of this is that there was traffic collision that

preceded this incident and we also know that when chp encountered this suspect he was in the process of carjacking the second party's vehicle. >> reporter: drivers frustrated having to sit in their vehicles for hours not being able to move as police investigate the deadly shooting. >> a very complex crime scene that includes evidence scattered not only widely across the lanes but distance-wise. >> reporter: the highway opened after midnight but for people who live just steps from the scene, concern about the deadly situation during the commute. >> absolutely. pretty scary. >> reporter: also, some details, new information on this case tonight. police tell me after this gunman was shot, he was given aid by chp and police before paramedics arrived but of course it was too late. rick boon, nbc bay area news.

forever. april 29, 1992, l.a. became the site of the most disstrucktive civil disturbance, the beating of rodney king, the acquittal of the officers and the riots that ensued became an emblem of the country's racial divide. our nbc station in los angeles has more. >> reporter: to properly tell her granddaughters about the l.a. riots she brought them to the l.a. peace parade. but there's one piece of history she left out. >> i was hand in hand slipping, falling, taking food, taking liquor. >> reporter: one of the stores 21-year-old hayes broke into was tom's in florence. while conducting the interviews at the parade we discovered the owner of the liquor store was standing just a few hundred feet away. >> somebody broke in and take all the merchandise out. whatever they need. >> reporter: that somebody was

hayes and her message for choy she says is long overdue. >> during the riots i was a partaker of the madness and i'm honored to have the opportunity to apologize. >> oh, thank you very much. >> i am so remorseful. >> thank you very much. >> reporter: a well received apology from choy who has since rebuilt his store. >> remembered 25 years ago. i'm very happy today. she said we've been friends again. >> reporter: a friend for life and a less son to go with it. >> not to participate. not to do things that just in the heat of the moment to do it because later you'll be sorry. >> wow. rodney king drowned at his home in 2012. since then his family has tried to maintain his legacy. took more than a decade for the l.a.p.d. to meet its reforms which change the way officers are trained and recruited.

you can say orange is the new hack. the netflix show has become a center of a security breach information. a hacker claimed to have gotten ahold of the season 5 of the new series orange is the new black. the hacker leaked the ten episode weeks before netflix had planned to debut the season. a lot anxious to see it. on twitter the hacker is demanding a ransom from netflix. netflix says a vendor had the security breach. the fbi is involved and investigatin investigating. still to come, it's certainly was not the weather today. >> so many delays at sfo? an answer you'll want to hear if you're flying out of the airport this weekend. >> clear skies and sunshine. right now you're seeing 71 degrees in san francisco outside at&t park. gorgeous. mid 60s as first pitch comes uppen at 6 clon 05.

sfo? ==vo== the reason -- this: construction continun . no rain in the bay area today. why were more than 100 flights delayed? just another reminder here. construction continues on the runways. 108 flights were delayed about an hour because of the construction.

degrees, clear skies. this is the fun time of year you get spring-like temperatures but a snow pack that still arrives mid february in the sierra. average april we see six days of rain. this month we have had 12. when you compare it to the last few years of how much rain, it has been the most for the month of april since 2012 and it was a pretty wet april so far. 150 to 300% of average. we're due a break from all the rain and high pressure doing that. storm track off to the north. no rain. in fact, the ridge of high pressure will strengthen as we get into tuesday and wednesday which means even warmer temperatures over the next five days. cool start to tomorrow morning. highs tomorrow around san jose similar to what we had today. upper 70s and low 80s. over towards concord but along the cost a bit more of a sea breeze. little bit of cooling into san francisco for your sunday. upper 70s to low 80s around the

north bay. sunday notice 3:00 inland close to 80. same spread of temperatures as we go into monday. jumping up to the mid 80s by monday afternoon. high pressure reaching its peak intensity wednesday. a chance close to 90 degrees by midweek and now here's the change possibly for next weekend. cool area of low pressure drops down which will have a big impact. san francisco dropping to the low 60s next weekend and the valleys upper 80s to mid 60s next weekend. but enjoy the summer-like weather through wednesday. >> wow. it is nice. thank you very much. right now we have the president, president trump taking the stage in pennsylvania. we have been waiting for him to take the stage and doing this instead of the white house correspondent's dinner. we'll take a listen to that coming up. try zyrtec® it's starts working hard at hour one and works twice as hard when you take it again the next day.
