the record heat that just hit the bay area days ago. >> the news starts right now. >> we are on with a special primetime edition of nbc bay area news because of playoff hockey and just like the back and forth on the ice similar situation with the weather. after record heat earlier this week a big change this weekend. >> let's take a live look outside. you can see the fog is here. cooler temperatures are too. will this weather also bring rain for the weekend. >> rob is standing by with the answer to that question. >> it is certainly hockey weather around the bay area up toward the sierra. squall valley at 5:00. heavy snow showers and wet snow flakes flying there. and we're talking about snow melt for the last few days. now snowfall in the high elevations of the southern sierra. right now it is 32 degrees. cold enough for may snow showers there. you see it there on the satellite radar view over the sierra and clouds spilling back

to the bay area. we'll have to watch and see if some of this moisture moving counter clockwise clips parts of the east bay and south bay later on tonight but in the meantime we have breezy and chilly conditions. 57 degrees around ocean beach, san jose earlier this week close to 90 degrees today. highs only in the low 60s and check out the wind speed. still strong on the coast even though the wind advisory is allowed to expire. we'll continue to finish off the weekend so a slight chance of showers later tonight as that air blow around from the sierra bringing more intense area actually into southern california as we wrap up the weekend. air cold enough for more sierra snow showers at times and maybe just a slight chance of a few early morning showers south. chilly temperatures tomorrow morning. we'll show you the rest of your sunday forecast coming your way in about 20 minutes. >> sounds good. remember you can track the forecast with our free nbc bay area app.

click to get updates for your neighborhood. >> now to a developing story we're following oversaes tonight that's where the controversial french election is proving familiar for us here in the u.s. french officials are confirming a preelection hack of the presidential candidate macron. officials say data leaked on a website mixes information from macron's campaign with fake news and fake news stories. no now he identifies himself as a radical centrist. he is up against the far right candidate which some are calling a french dond trump. immediately after the hack suspicions focused on the russians. some suspect that the russians infiltrated his campaign a few weeks ago.

>> it just shouldn't be. >> it's being watched by a world. it would cause a political shake up across europe. there's usually two rounds in this election and if no candidate loses 50% of the first round they go head to head and could be the case of this election. >> they have been casting their votes throughout the day. he caught up with them in san francisco. >> french nationals from the bay area have been coming and going at frances conciliate in san francisco all day. supporters of each candidate liken this presidential election to the u.s. election. especially on the issue of russians possibly hacking century candidate's emails and making them public. >> that's ridiculous everything is oh the russians are even.

correct and will unwin by what happened here. >> for coverage of the french election head to our website nbc bay area.com. we'll be tracking the results throughout the evening and tomorrow morning. >> more than three years after they were kidnapped by terrorists in nigeria tonight 82 schoolgirls are freed but the fight continues to rescue the rest of the girls. it's what has become an international effort now to save them. marion has the new details. it's hard to believe these girls were kidnapped in 2014. >> so long ago. the girls were released after successful negotiations between the terrorist group and the nigerian government. the freed girls are in military custody in a town in northeast nigeria tonight. they westbouill be transferred capital where they'll be reunited with their families after more than three years. they're believed to be among the 276 teenage girls forced from

their beds by militants in the middle of the night back in april 2014. the kidnapping sparked global out rage and launched the social media movement, #bring back our girls. according to the nigerian presidents office as part of the negotiations. some suspects being held by the government were released. the release of the 82 girls is the largest group yet to be freed. you may remember about 21 kidnapped schoolgirls were released in october of last year in a deal brokered by switzerland and the international red cross. nbc bay area news. >> thank you marianne. back here in the bay area four people under arrest this evening accused of pimping and prostitution on the peninsula. arrest comes after a month long investigation and more arrests could be coming as law enforcement works to stop crimes tied to human trafficking. >> the arrest netted two women and two men. >> members obtained information

that a resident in the city was operating illegal prostitution business. >> that began a month long investigation that's part of a larger antihuman trafficking operation with redwood city and san bruno police. >> they were able to obtain a search and arrest warrant and yesterday at about 2:00 p.m. they served this warrant at a resident and were able to find additional evidence as well. >> neighbors in san bruno say they saw investigators at the home on the 1100 block of hermann street. gloria's daughter was surprised. >> she said she saw a lot of policemen and sheriffs in this house but she didn't see any activity. she thought it was drug dealing. >> others neighbors hardly saw any activity at all.

for this weekend interesting views around the bay area again. you can see clearing skies there and windy with the clouds rolling on in. and 62 right now. we should see temperatures rebounding but these winds will be a little part of the story tomorrow. look at the wind gusts in the yellow and orange on the coast. wind advisory was dropped as of about 10:00 this morning. but we're beginning to see a slight warm up compared to 24 hours ago. this is going to set the stage for a warmer weekend. you have know flying close to 6,500 feet and as this moisture moves away off to the south and

west some of this may try to creep into places like livermore and the main focus of the storm is in southern california and short range forecast now brings a little something through livermore and san jose. that's 11:00 tonight and 2:00 a.m. most of the day tomorrow does look dry. hour by hour we'll have clouds at times lingering at the south bay through lunchtime tomorrow and then clear skies and a slightly warmer finish to the weekend. slight chance of showers. and then through the afternoon pretty nice recovery there. highs in the mid 70s around the santa clara valley. mid to upper 70s here. 68 corridor as you approach fremont could see some warm temperatures. 76 in walnut creek. low 70s around the peninsula

still blus tery for tomorrow. upper 60s near san francisco and down sloping winds should boost temperatures closer to 80 as we wrap up the weekend. so the forecast moving forward pretty interesting. and then cooling as we head toward thursday and friday. warming closer to the 70s on tuesday. inland spots the similar trend we'll find a few spots approaching the 80s. a little bit of a cool down as we head toward next weekend. 70s making a come back. breezy at times and watch out around the trivalley and san jose around 11:00 at night. we'll see if we can get a few of those clearing and warmer as you finish it up. >> congratulations again. >> still to come when your

to local restaurants that say a san francisco startup is using their business names and logos without nbc bay area responds to local restaurants that say a san francisco start up is using their business names and logos without permission. >> the restaurant says it is misleading customers. our investigator is here with the story. >> restaurant delivery services are so common we rarely think of who is bringing our food but some restaurants are asking you to pay attention because they say they have never partnered with a popular service that's acting like they did. she made a decision back then

that she wouldn't offer delivery of award winning pizza. it's dine in or take out only. >> our business model is that we believe our food is best when it is fresh. >> barbara became suspicious a few months back when a confused customer came in to pick up a to go order. >> this guy came in and had no idea what food he was pick up. had no idea who the food was for. >> he one a customer after all. he was with door dash picking up an order for someone that order mulberry pizza through the door dash website. for barbara, this was a problem. >> we never authorized anything like that. >> barbara says it posted the logo on the website giving consumers the impression that the two companies were partners but they're not. barbara called door dash and demanded it remove mulberry pizza from its site and it did but a few weeks later it was right back up.

>> this is extremely frustrating to go up against these guys. they seem not to care. >> the iconic also learned it was on door dash's website without it's permission when a ticked off customer called to complain that her foot was late. >> i don't know who door dash is. we don't contract with them. we don't have any affiliation with door dash. >> we wondered if this has any affiliation with door dash so our team started making calls. >> i wonder if i can place my to go order through door dash. >> more than 3 dozen local restaurants were on doordash's website logos and all without their knowledge and permission. >> from the way it sounds is they went a little bit too far. >> he says the company's logo is the trademark and when they use another company's logo to believe it is a partnership it

could be trademark infringement. >> you're not allowed in anyway to suggest that you are affiliated or controlled or associated with that particular trademark. >> in fact in and out burger caught them using it's logo and sued the company 18 months ago for trademark infringement saying they confused consumers into believing doordash had the authority to deliver it's food. the case was settled out of court so we don't know what happened but we do know in and out is no longer listed on the website. we wanted to talk to door dash on camera about it's use of other companies logos. it said no but after our involvement it did remove them from its website. barbara is pleased door dash is finally listening but still upset with them. >> they misrepresented themselves. i think that's fraudulent. >> door dash issued a statement to us.

the olympic committee announced that bobsledding gold medalist steven holcomb was found dead in his room at the now to a developing story. the olympic committee announced that the bobsledding gold medallist was found dead in his room at the training center today. it's not clear how he died but they don't suspect foul play. he piloted the bobsled to gold at the 2010 games. it was the first team to win gold in the event since 1948. he was very young just 37 years

old. >> a 57-year-old veteran said he nearly died after being neglected and ignored. >> he was mistreated in jail and is now suing the county. he has the exclusive interview. >> what we're talking about bryce lemons a former musician that fell on hard times when he became the victim of a serious medical emergency what followed was a complete lack of care that changed his life after nearly ending it. >> he spent much of the past decade hopeless and homeless. it was two years ago the day after christmas when he fell asleep behind a santa rosa super market near this dumpster. it was about 40 degrees out tps side. an officer found him intoxicated and slivering and believe lemons urinated on himself. police picked him up for an outstanding hospital charge but first took him to a nearby

hospital for medical care. >> if my body temperature would have dropped another degree or so i would have probably died. >> he was treated for hypothermia and then taken to the jail where he began to feel sharp pain in his legs. he was placed in a cell wearing his same wet clothing. >> it's about 12 to 14 hours i waited to be housed and change my clothes. so after just having been diagnosed with hypothermia you were put in a jail cell with wet clothes? >> correct. it's like someone was hitting my feet with a hammer. like a sledge hammer over and over. i asked for medical attention probably a few hours after i had gotten to the jail and she said that there's no doctors on sunday. you'll have to wait until monday. >> but jail records show lemons wasn't treated until tuesday. after appearing in court that day he complained about his pain to the judge that ordered that he get care immediately.

>> by the time almost 72 hours went by without seeing somebody the damage was done and there's nothing they could do about it. >> his feet turned dark purple and his toes black. over the next several weeks all the toes on his right foot had to be amputated as well as his left leg below the knee. >> they told me what had to happen i couldn't stop crying i just sat there and i was like oh my god, you know, i mean, it, i don't wish that upon anybody. >> the surgeries left him confined to a wheelchair. >> he is with the county sheriff's office that runs the jail and says inmates should never be denied medical care. >> at this point you know that would have been a break from policy. >> yes. >> but you can't say for certain whether someone may have broken that policy. >> i can't say for certain but that would be extremely unlikely if someone were to point out that type of condition.

>> he had to undergo amputations. >> that's going to be answered in court. >> williams is now suing sonoma county. the company contracted to provide medical care inside the jail. this could have been prevented. he is lemons attorney. >> to deny someone medical care is cruel and unusual punishment. >> the suit claims staff at the jail acted maliciously unless lemons in his cell for several hours before he was given cry clothing. >> what was he wearing. >> was he wearing his wet clothes or hospital clothes. >> he was still wearing the wet clothes. were officials at the jail just aware he was diagnosed with hypothermia an hour before he got there. we obtained the jails own records that appear to show confusion about lemon's confusion. in one document jail staff wrote that lemons had not been treated at a hospital before arriving to

jail but another document said he did receive care for leg pain and hypothermia. the company declined our repeated request for comment. >> i don't have a life right now. i don't have one. >> lemons was recently fitted for a prosthetic leg. >> with the pressures on the nerves i still feel my foot. it hurts but it's not even there. >> he can now walk with a cane but it's difficult to move on when each step forward brings back so much pain. >> i'm hoping for hope right now. >> bryce lemons is off the streets and staying with a relative. they're still waiting to receive plenty of other documents they requested from the county jail but the case is expected to go to trial by early next year. if you have a tip for our investigative unit give us a call at 888-996-tips or send it
