president trump saying it was the obama administration that originally gave michael flynn his security clearance. we also expect some republicans will try to portray sally yates as a partisan. loyal to president obama, trying to hurt president trump. yates has worked for the justice department for many years. in fact, it was donald trump himself who promoted yates to acting attorney general. now, trump fired her after she would not enforce that t>zel ban you were just talking about. she thought it violated the constitution. something the appellate court would also later rule. before she was fired, yates as part of her job as the nation's top cop came to realize through fbi intercepts that michael flynn was talking to the russians but not telling the white house the truth about the conversations. she warned flynn, who remember, at this point, has access to every american secret as national security adviser, could be turned by the russians. @ they could hold that over himnd
5:46 am
the key point today, how strong was that warning? the white house and spicer say it was a heads-up. will testify her warning about flynn were much stronger than that. the other big question, why did it take the white house so long to act? the president was informed his top security adviser had been talking to the russians and lying about it january 26th. this is just days into the presidency. but it's not until february 13th that he says he is resigning, flynn does. really, he was fired. today's testimony will be before the senate judic subcommittee led by republican lindsey grahai who has a reputation of being suspicious of the russians. when people try to paint yates as that partisan, she was invited there by a committee led by republicans. now, sam and laura, there are a number of investigations the fbi, two others in congress. one in the house, the other in the senate. we haven't heard much from them
