santa rosa. yeah, it's cool. it's 54 in oakland. 52 degrees in san francisco. so feeling a little milder there. our high temperatures will be in the 60s today. some mid 50s along the immediate coast and upper 60s inland. in spots like concord. we'll take a look ahead to the chance of rain. a look at the radar in a few minutes. mike is tracking a crash in castro valley. >> not one of those pleasant reports. there was a clash and it sounds like a deer was involved on 580. look at your speed sensors. no real disturbances but off the castro valley y as you're heading westbound on the freeway north, we have reports of that possibly affecting one lane on westbound 580. meanwhile, the rest of the brooch to the bay bridge moving just fine. i have a note for transit riders affecting the ferry this morning. >> we begin with breaking news

in the east bay. another early morning van fire in contra costa county. it happened some time after 1:00 a.m. on railroad avenue in ro o rodeo. the scene has now been cleared. according toó# fraring there, no fire investigators were called this time around. you'll recall authorities over the weekend arrested a man they believe is behind a recent string of car arsons in contra costa county. bob redell is looking into this morning's fire. >> happening today, the future of pot in an east bay city, there's a special meeting set today in walnut creek to decide how the city wants to handle legalization of marijuana. >> pete suratos is live there with what city officials could decide. good morning, pete. >> reporter: good morning to you, laura and sam. yes,sém later today, city offis with walnut creek deciding how best to move forward as far as implementing prop 64, which the city overwhelmingly voted in favor of this past november. this follows a month-long

outreach to residents. it included an online survey. about 1600 people that took part in this, and the numbers that stood out from the survey are that skit% favor outdoor and indoor cultivation. and 60% oppose banning stores that exclusively sell marijuanm. i did have a chance to speak to the interim city manager as well as a local medical marijuana doctor about the results from the survey. >> 61% of the population did approve prop 64. we're picking up from that survey we have the same support for retail and commercial sale. >> there's definitely a population that's looking to use marijuana medically, but do they want the dispensaries in their communities? do they want the plants grown in their communities?

that's sort of a different story. >> you can see still a lot of issues to discuss. they're resolving around prop 64. city council will vote to extend the moratorium on the commercial sale of marijuana as well as adding it to the city's current smoking ban ordinance, something residents overwhelmingly support, but the special session will happen during a meeting later today behind me at 4:00 p.m. live in walnut creek, pete suratos for today in the bay. >> a lot of rules to figure out there, pete. thank you very much. 4:34 on your tuesday. more trouble for a mom in the east bay. last year, you'll remember, the woman was arrested on a dui crash that killed a 3-year-old boy. now she's been arrested again. she, who is from pleasanton, was arrested last friday for public intoxication. she's also the wife of an alameda sheriff's deputy. the district attorney has not filed charges and it's not clear

whether or not they're coming. >> friends and family say east bay high school senior was filled with grace and beauty. she was killed in a crash on mother's day in fremont. dozens of friends and family came out to honor her short life. the event was held at st. ann's catholic parish. she was in an early morning crash on sunday hours after she attended her senior prom. her mother was driving the car and suffered major injuries. >> coming home from prom. a night that was supposed to be fun. and to enjoy mother's day with her mom and to have that change in an instant is something that is heartbreaking. >> i try to talk it out with friends, but everybody has their own way of grieving. >> she attended logan high school in union city and was expected to graduate with honors next month. happening today. 4:35 right now.

good morning. i'm landon dowdy live at cnbc world headquarters. wall street looks to add to yesterday's gains today. futures are higher this morning. the dow snapping a four-day losing streak with its best day in three weeks while the nasdaq closed at another record high. look for data on housing and industrial production and earnings from home depot. the dow raising 85 points to 20,981. the nasdaq up 28 to 6149. disney's ceo told abc employees at a town hall meeting yesterday that hackers claim to have stolen an upcoming movie. they're demanding a ransom and are threatening to release parts of the film online if they don't get it. they didn't name the film, but

there's reports it's the new pirates of the caribbean film. it comes amid increasing concerns about digital piracy. hackers recently uploaded the entire new season of "orange is the new black" before netflix released the show. and ford is planning to cut 10% of its work force as it works to boost profits and its sliding stock prices. most of the cuts target salaried employees in north america and in asia but it's unclear if it also includes hourly workers. ford says it's not commenting on the reports. back over to you. >> good to see you. thank you. all right, back at it. live look at oracle arena this morning. it's bound to be packed with pumped up fans tonight. maybe landon is one of them. the warriors will be facing off with the spurs for game two of the western conference finals. right now, we don't know if steve kerr will be in the building, but he was back at practice yesterday. here's some video of that. very encouraging sight there.

>> not beach weather quite yet. >> not yet, but this weekend indeed. we start out with cool weather. then as we go into the next several days, it will really heat up. as we take a look at what you're feeling heading out the door, partly cloudy skies. temperatures in the low 50s. that's for the south bay, peninsula, and tri-valley. as we look at the east bay, san francisco, north bay, that's where we have cooler temperatures. right now, starting in the mid 40s in the north bay and in the mid 50s for the east bay. looking live at that camera in fremaunlt. as we go into the day, going to see the temperatures only reaching into the mid 60s for the peninsula and 65 degrees for the tri-valley. and in the north bay, 67 degrees. and san francisco at a cool 60 degrees with some breezy winds. as you're looking outside, getting ready for the day, and we bring it into the closet, it will be a day for nice warm jacket and also jeans to stay comfortable. we will have gusty winds. and this is the kind of weather that we'll see throughout the afternoon because of this low pressure system dropping in,

bringing you some scattered light showers and even some snow to the sierra for that area, we're looking at about 1 to 3 inches of snow. for the bay area, going to be very light. let me show you how it looks on the hour-by-hour outlook. this is what the radar could look like. an increase in cloud cover by 9:30 in the morning and then we don't see a lot of green here. that's because the rain will be very hit or miss and also very light. even as we go into tonight, a very slight chance of seeing that moving in with some breezy winds and it clears out tomorrow with a big warmup ahead. looking at how the temperatures warm up over the next few days, it will be breezy tomorrow, and san francisco reaching the low 60s, and then we'll be in the mid 70s in time for the weekend. and for the inland areas, mid 60s today. upper 80s by friday and 90s by saturday and sunday, that should be 94 degrees. i'll have another look at the forecast, but mike is telling us what's happening in san francisco. >> got word of a new crash. overall, the bay area looks

great. the crash over in castro valley has cleared off 580, all lanes clear off the castro valley y. 101 northbound, as you start to head to van ness, there's a report of a crash at the tail end of the freeway. and there may be partúf$ of the slow lane blocked. watch for activity. this is an issue getting into san francisco, oakland alameda ferry today will not be serviced at pier 41. they're doing some hydraulic repair so you have to get off at the ferry building. that may be for the next couple days. keep checking the website. t]19ñ if you can't take the ferry, you can take it over to the ferry building, but if you want to drive, right now, we map out this course, the purple line, 25 minutes. but then waze gives you the not so obvious backup plan as getting all the way over across -- there you go, the san rafael bridge. a long commute, taking longer,

a new warning about a powerful and lethal drug often disguised as a pain killer. it's called fentanyl. dealers are mixing it with fake pain pills and street drugs with deadly results. >> vicky nguyen joins us to talk about how the drug is flooding the bay area. >> good morning. the astronomical profit made from fentanyl is fueling its rise. drug enforcement agents say for $3500, dealers can buy just one kilogram of fenltinal over the internet, get it delivered by u.s. mail to their doorstep and turn that into $10 million worth of pills. it's quickly spurred a new drug crisis in northern california. san jose parents bob and shelly say they have never heard of fentanyl until it showed up at the cause of death for their 21-year-old son shaun. drug agents say dealers are cutting fentanyl into fake prescription pills that look real, along with street drugs like heroin. we have learned since 2015, at
