there right now. temperatures starting out in the upper 50s. in the lower 50s in livermore, napa, santa rosa, a nice cool morning and look at these highs later today, reaching the low 90s for concord, livermore, santa rosa. san francisco, not bad, 73 degrees. and heading into the weekend, as the temperatures heat up, a look at the numbers. mike says chp is hanging on to one crash in oakland. >> it happened hours ago, but chp still has it on their grid. let's show you the speed sensors. not really a problem for any of them, including up by the crash, but this is eastbound 580 and around the area of harrison, we have seen these speed sensors slow in the last few seconds. there was an earlier crash and maybe some fuel or oil leaked onto the roadway. there was a cleanup orders a long time ago. the transit system, no delays and no problems so take a ride today. >> thank you very much. >> 4:31. we have breaking news in the south bay this morning. a deadly shooting investigation is under way in san jose after a

man was shot and killed at a fast food restaurant. >> bob redell joining us live from the scene which is the wienerschnitzel with what police are telling us right now. >> good morning to you. i just spoke with a police sergeant with the san jose police department and he said this is one of those crimes unfortunately where they don't have much information right now. the san jose police have shut down first street between martha, down towards edwards and willow as the crime scene unit processes the scene outside of the wienerschnitzel. that's not well lit at this moment, but it is on the right side of the screen. the murder happened a little after 10:00 last night. police responded to a 911 call that there had been several gunshots. on arrival, they found a man in his 30s shot. he was taken to valley medwhere he was later pronounced dead. not clear what led up to this

shooting. police are not sure if this is random. it is possible this could be gang related because the sergeant pointed out this is a gang area, but that's not something they have been able to confirm. this pan was somebody. they are interviewing that person. as far as suspect information, they do not have a suspect description as of yet. bob redell, today in the bay. >> all right. thanks for the latest there, bob. >> we're also learning more information about a severe attack in one of san francisco's most popular parks. a story we first reported on yesterday. now, the sf gate is detailing how the victim here was beaten with glass bottles, a golf club, and then stabbed with a knife. police suspect this is a gng related incident and some of the attackers may have been minors. the violence happened at a pretty early time, wednesday, about 5:00 in the afternoon. a lot of people out there, in fact, dozens around when it happened.

the attack has people alarmed. >> a vicious attack like that at 5:00 in the afternoon, yeah, i think it's a little bit of a wake-up call. >> police right now say the victim isn't able to talk to investigators yet to tell them about his attackers. at last check, he was in critical condition. >> san francisco police are looking for a suspect who attacked an 11-year-old boy near his elementary school. it happened last week just a few blocks from sutro elementary cool. he tried to take the boy's wallet. when he refused, he hit the boy and called him a racial slur. many parents are angry they weren't told about the attack. >> the principal should tell the parents. e-mail, call, leave a message, anything. let the parents know. >> the boy is okay and the suspect has not been caught. >> some scary moments to tell you about at an at&t store in fremont where two armed robbers tied up an employee and took off

with about 20 phones and money. it happened tuesday night. a man who happened to be walking by at the time saw the employee tied to the ground and immediately called 911. the suspects did get away. >> how safe are the courts during an earthquake? an advisory committee has come out with a list of state court buildings with the highest earthquake rist. three buildings posed what is called a very high risk. also at high risk, the napa county historical courthouse damaged by the earthquake in 2014 and the alameda county superior court building in oakland. protecting their fans. the giants have started placing thick barriers in front of at&t park, behind the home plate entrance. it comes after recent attacks around the world when cars and trucks have rammed into large crowds. on game days, there are thousands of people in front of the ballpark. the installation of the posts started last month and they'll continue through the season. >> the warriors are in san

bridge glistening on your left. san jose on your right. it is expected to be a very hot weekend, although kari has been preparing for us, warning us that the heat is coming. >> yeah, that's been pretty much the thing we have been talking about all week because it started out so cool. can you believe just a few days ago, we were only seeing the highs in the low 60s. now, we're getting ready for the 90s. >> quickly. >> yes, it did. so we're here. we can be happy it's friday. here's a look at the temperature now. it's nice and comfortable as you step out in san jose. it's 59 degrees. 57 in the peninsula. tri-valley, 51 degrees, and 57 in the east bay. 53 in san francisco, and the north bay at 50 degrees. then here's a look at those high temperatures today. into the upper 80s. low 90s in morgan hill up to 88 degrees. air conditioner will be on full blast later on today. danville, 92 degrees. 91 in antioch. oakland will be up to 81.

belmont, 86 degrees. in san francisco, mostly low 70s. i think the mission district may make it up to 76 degrees and 90 in santa rosa. sonoma up to 88. if you're looking out the window, getting ready for the day, you want to start out with a light jacket because it will be cool to start, but then some short sleeves as the temperatures heat up. you have to dress in layers today because of the wide range in temperatures and don't forget the sunglasses and also shorts in order, especially if it's a casual day. heading into the next couple days, more short sleeves and shorts in the forecast as you get dressed. here's a live look outside at oakland. all clear skies. still celebrating the win from the a's last night. if you're going this afternoon to the game, it will be very warm, in the mid 70s and dropping back to the lower 60s. it will be comfortable all throughout the evening and also comfortable in san francisco. this is one of the few areas where we will have milder weather.

just enough of an ocean breeze to keep the temperatures from spiking into the upper 80s or 90s. we're going to be in the 70s throughout the next several days. but then look at the inland valleys. the peak of the heat reaching the bay area on sunday and it will still be hot monday and then gradually coming down next week. mike, you're checking highway 17. >> i also just heard this. our desk is tracking down information about an active crash on redwood road at skyland. it's in the oakland hills. we're following a couple curious details. if this does place a heavy impact on your commute, i'll let you know. the freeways up here are looking fine. we'll move you down to highway 17 and southbound for the last few minutes, i saw a lot of slowing. that just cleared up. there had been some lane shifts overnight, and they might be clearing so that's why we saw the clearing. we'll get out to the bay bridge, a view from emeryville. a steady shot, a clear shot.

winds not as big a factor as earlier this week and a smooth dry between east bay and the city. up to the north as well. san rafael, an easy drive. it's friday. we expect a lighter early commute. back to you. >> thank you very much. 4:48 right now. we're following a developing story. real concern this morning that the norovirus outbreak in santa clara county could be spreading to other counties as well. it's up to almost 400 students who have gotten sick at 14 different san jose schools. now santa cruz county is also reporting cases in its system. it can produce vomiting and diarrhea. >> some east contra costa áconcerned about firefighting, they're getting a billboard to make a point. they're trying to raise money for a highway billboard to warn people about the area being a public safety zone due to

inadequate fire funding. the group wants people to be aware of the cost of inadequately funding those services. nefarious, no hidden fund at uc president janet napolitano's office. quite a turnaround. that's what the state auditor who first discovered the $170 million fund told uc regent yesterday. the auditor said the issue was with the budget bross, not her office. the board there tentatively approved an $813 million budget for her office. a board member who is also the house assembly speaker said he's disappointed that the board didn't hold off on january's tuition hike given the extra cash. napolitano said the money is already earmarked for projects. >> at the same board member, uc regents for the first time capped the number of out of state students that campuses can accept. that number now has to be a maximum of 18%.

>> maybe they're trying to beat the heat if they want to head out of town or to the coast where it will be cool. at least we will have places you can go where you can catch a little bit of a break from the intense temperatures and the high heat we'll feel. it is now 49 degrees in morgan hill and in livermore as well as napa. it's 57 in oakland and 53 in san francisco. highs today up to 90 in napa and oakland, 81 degrees, and 88 in palo alto. san jose will also be in the upper 80s. we'll talk about that high heat staying with us for the weekend. and i'll let you know how long it sticks around. mike is tracking two crashes. >> one has an impact to the freeway. one is an impact we're tracking because of the people involved. the speed sensors are not really the major concern. but this is an issue and maybe for a while here. sounds like southbound 880 the off ramp at the fremaund alvarado off ramp, that's closed
