right now. we don't know how long it will take to clear up a crash that occurred. it does sound like a serious situation, but again, not affecting the freeway, just the off ramp at fremont alvarado. we have a crash here at redwood road at skyline boulevard. and there's a crash here, and we're told the oakland fire department is there trying to help people out of the car. sounds like they're stuck in the car. i don't know the extent of the injuries. >> we'll have an update on that development. thank you. breaking news from the south bay. a weaienerschnitzel turned crim scene. >> bob is live with what we know so far. bob. >> reporter: good morning to you, sam and laura. san jose police department's biggest challenge right now is trying to find the person who shot and killed this man outside this wienerschnitzel on first street in san jose. within the past 15 minutes, the police department cleared the scene, reopened first street,

and they're now continuing at least with one interview. at least one interview of a possible witness. this murder happened just after 10:00 last night. police responded to a 911 call that there had been several gunshots at this location. on arrival, they found a man in his 30s suffering from at least one gunshot wound. he was taken to valley med where he was later found dead. san jose police are interviewing a person who was with this man when he was shot. >> does this appear to be random? >> don't really know that either, to be honest with you. >> tell me about the specific area of san jose, known for gang activity? >> yes, it is. >> does that play into the investigation? >> it could. it's certainly something we'll look into. >> police have not released any information, any description about a possible suspect. reporting live here in san jose, bob redell, today in the bay. >> thank you very much, bob. we'll follow up with you. >> 5:01 right now.

we do have breaking news. sweden's top prosecutor dropping the rape investigation against wikileaks founder julian assange. the announcement came overnight. he was accused of rape by two swedish women. the prosecutor says she's dropping the case because there's no way to get assange to sweden in a reasonable timeframe. assange, who denied the allegations, has been living in ecuador's embassy in london for the past seven years. he's wanted here in the u.s. for publishing leaked military intelligence. >> happening now, richmond police looking for a missing 15-year-old girl. she left her house wednesday morning for girl and never actually made it to school. gray goes to hercules high school. her family fears she may be a victim of human trafficking. she's 5'9", about 160 pounds. take a close look right now. call richmond police if you have any more information. developing this morning out of vallejo, the effort to get answers on a recent gruesome find that animal lovers are calling shocking.

in february, a woman walking her dog discovered about a dozen dead dogs wrapped in bags down an embankment along columbus parkway near lake herman road. this week, a mutilated goat was found in the same area. some people are so outraged by this, they have basically been packing city council meetings demanding this get more attention. >> we feel there's an apathy around this case, that the authorities may be thinking that it's not important because it's animals. >> several animal groups right now are offering a reward to try to catch the person who is doing this. the reward is up to $10,000. the discovery bay man convicted of stabbing his friend's 9-year-old brother will be sentenced this afternoon. he was 18 when he brutally stabbed and killed jordan two years ago. schultz was found guilty in march. the defense and prosecution agree he is mentally ill. after the murder, he was diagnosed as bipolar with a

it's 5:13, as the sun rises this morning, we're taking a live outside at san jose. a lot of sunshine, a cool start, and the temperature trend for willow glen will be 67 degrees at 9:00 in the morning with people getting up and about. as we go through day, temperatures warming into the low 80s by early afternoon and mid 80s for the afternoon into the evening. as we head into the forecast, going to see some common 90s for the inland valleys. i'll have a look at that at 5:17. and your travel times through the tri-valley, we just see a little slowing for 580 and maybe some early clearing for some of the construction crews. we'll track that and your crashes. i have a new update as well for the east bay. >> thank you so much.

>> 5:13. a booming ride share industry is reportedly paying big dividends for san francisco international airport. the examiner reports supervisors this week detailed nearly $40 million collected from uber and lyft in the year and a half since airport ride share permits were first approved. most of the money goes back to airport services. the numbers were laid out in a hearing where supervisors approved extending the deal including how fees are collected for ride share trips. six people recovering this morning after being injured in a fire at the googlefá developers conference or the io conference yesterday. fire broke out at a cooking facility at the shoreline amphitheatre and we don't know how it started, but firefighters say the members of the kitchen staff were working with a deep fryer at the time. >> paramedics running toward the amphitheater area, and then had a whole lot of the kitchen stuff coming out. >> three people ended up getting

sent to the hospital. one with critical injuries. the developers conference was uninterrupted. now, while google was dealing with a fire, facebook is celebrating five years as a public company. >> facebook has come a long way. a long way. we have probably all forgotten what a disaster its debut on the market was. let's take the way back machine to five year ago. technically five years one day. facebook public with this big ceremony right on campus with the nasdaq, biggest tech ipo of all time, then technical problems with the nasdaq exchange caused delays in trading and facebook's stock fell below its ipo offering. an embarrassment to the nasdaq. it really never recovered from. from that inospicious start, the stock did fine. from $38 on the first day to $148 today. this is a graph every company wants to see. markets recovered a bit thursday. don't be fooled. there's still a lot of worry out there. the economic policy uncertainty

day. look at where we're headed this afternoon, up to 81 degrees in oakland. 88 in palo alto. also in morgan hill. half moon bay, 70 degrees, and 90 in napa and santa rosa. as we go into the next couple days. we'll see more afternoons like this. reaching 80 degrees at 4:00 in oakland and nothing but sunshine and then temperatures quickly cooling around sunset. if you're heading to the sierra, this is a live look at kirkwood as the sun rises over the snow-capped hills, it is so beautiful. our temperatures will be comfortable too. it will be in the mid 50s today. 58 degrees tomorrow, and then sunday, 59 degrees. also we'll be watching more clouds moving in there. here, we're looking at some 70s in san francisco. it doesn't cool down until the middle of next week. and i think the cooldown will be much more dramatic for the coastline. inland areas, it takes a while. we'll be in the 90s for the next four days. a lot of sun, and then in the mid 80s for tuesday.

it will start to feel more seasonable toward the end of next week. we'll be talking more about that. i'll be getting you ready for the weekend in less than ten minutes. mike is now tracking a crash in the south bay. >> i am. but it sounds like the hot days will have much more impact on many more people. we're still tracking the new development as we look at green sensors all around the map. northbound 285, reports of a crash and a little slowing as a crew arrives on scene. it sounds like lanes are clear, but we'll continue to track that. no major injuries reported getting up to mountain view and the sunnyvale area. in the oakland hills, we're still following this crash. the fire department said they're helping to get someone out of the car at redwood lane. there are a number of people involved. >> a light flow of traffic toward the bay bridge. if you're driving over from union city over to the peninsula, san carlos, you will not be using the mont boulevard

==topvo== of good samaritans helping rescue a man pinned 5:24. this is new video to show you of good samaritans helping to rescue a man pinned between two cars. it happened last week in kansas city, missouri. security video shows a pedestrian getting knocked down between ka cars that crashed. one driver takes off, but a short time later, enough people converge on scene to lift the car off the pinned victim. the man who was trapped is now reportedly walking on crutches and wearing a cast, but what a team effort there. >> well, the last of four confederate era monuments will be coming down in just a few these are live pictures of new orleans of the city's central business district. that's where the statue of

confederate general robert e. lee stands on top of a column in a park. you see it there. the mayor says the monuments from the late 1800s are divisive. private donors paid for the statues to be removed. >> we talk all the time about the safety of residential buildings and bridges, but how safe are the courts during an earthquake. an advisory committee came out with a list of state court buildings with the highest earthquake risk. three bay area buildingerize on that. those would be the alameda county administration building in oakland. that scored the second highest overall. also at all high risk, the napa county historical courthouse damaged in 2014, and the alameda county superior court building in oakland. >> drug companies spend well over a million dollars in gifts to doctors, but that could soon come to an end. the state senate passed a bill banning the act. the bill prohibits perks like airlinets and laskish meals that

>> we do have a number of significant crashes we're tracking. despite that light friday traffic flow, you see the sensors moving well. here's the first one i'm talking about, north 85, approaching 237. we do have a crash just shy of the interchange. we had debris reported across lanes. i have seen a lot of slowing and maybe a crash might still be affecting one lane, but that debris might be the issue. chp will give us more info as they have more to report. but that's the issue right there through mountain view out of sunnyvale. getting to the bay bridge, the travel times look great heading through the maze and down the east shore freeway, but i hand it off to you because we're tracking an issue in fremont as well as the oakland hills. >> breaking news. you talked about a crash. several people rescued from a car crash in the oakland hills. we understand right now that everyone is out of the car, but oakland firefighters worked feverishly to remove some people from a car. it happened at redwood road and

skyline boulevard. redwood road is still closed. we have a crew at the scene and we're heading there now to briv you live aerial pictures and we'll bring them to you as soon as possible. >> now to breaking news we brought you at 4:30 this morning. a south bay wienerschnitzel turned crime scene. police investigating a deadly shooting. >> bob redell is live at the scene with what know so far. >> good morning to you. we spoke earlier with a san jose police sergeant who tells us that unfortunately in this murder that took place at this wienerschnitzel that took place, they don't have that much information. here's what we know. it's just happened a little after 10:00 last night. a 911 call, a report of shots fired. when the police arrived, they found a man, a man in his 30s suffering from at least one gunshot wound. he was transported to valley med where he was pronounced dead a short time later. he was with a person. we don't know if it was a man or

most popular parks a story we first told you about yesterday. sf gate is detailing now how the victim was beaten with glass bottles, a golf club, then stabbed with a knife. police suspect it was a gang-related incident and some of the attackers may have been minors. the violence happened at an early time wednesday around 5:00 in the afternoon. around dozens of people. the attack has many who visit or live near dolores park alarm. >> vicious attack like that at 5:00 in the afternoon, yeah. i think it's a little bit of a wake-up call. >> police say the victim is not able to talk to investigators just yet to tell them about his attackers. at last check, he was in critical condition. some eastern contra costa county res dbts are so concerned about inadequate funding for fighting fires they're reportedly trying to pay for a billboard just to make their point. a brentwood based coalition is

trying to raise money for a highway billboard to warn drivers about that area being a public safety danger zone. voters have shot down several emergency services tax hike measures over the years. the group wants people to be aware of the cost of inadequately funting those services. well, you'll remember this, the 55-foot-high sculpture of a naked woman that caused quite a stir when it was revealed last year. now she's becoming a bit of a social butterfly. the city is starting monthly gatorings at the sculpture which is titled truth and beauty. the events are called thursdays. the fourth thursday of every month features live entertainment, food trucks, and even wine. >> you have to love the bay area. she was just stretching. 5:35 right now. quickly approaching 5:36 this morning. how are we looking out there? >> overall, looking great, but a

couple key spots, three key spots we're watching. one, the freeway at northbound 85, we'll check the speed sensors where we have slowing. north 85 slow because of reports of a crash and not a lot of detail on which lanes are blocked still. but reports of debris across all lanes. i'm tracking the slower drive, and no major injuries reported, but i'm concerned about that crash for the freeway. it might affect you getting onto highway 13. redwood road is closed. originally reported at skyline. people have been removed from the car, but the activity still there, block redwood road which may preaccess to the freeway, and there's a park right by the sceneerse just to give locals a reference. now looking at the rest of the commute, and the travel times look great on the mass transit systems as well. no major issues. b.a.r.t. is operating without any major delays and running

stay in the mid 70s with a lot of sunshine. on saturday in oakland at san antonio park, you can enjoy some live jazz music in all of the sunshine. warm temperatures. it does start out in the low 70s, but it quickly becomes very warm we go through today. bring the sunscreen, sunglasses and lots of bottles of water if you're going to be out there for a while. sunday, we were talking about this. some people keeping their clothes on, others not so much. it will be cool to start out. i think a lot of people with temperatures in the low 60s will want at least a layer or two on. we'll see the high temperatures throughout the day reaching into the mid 70s in san francisco. really going to be hot at lake trinity, trinity lake, rather. up to 95 degrees on sunday. so it's really going to be hot farther north and then for yosemite, much cooler. we do still have some snow there. it's 58 degrees for the high today. and then 61 tomorrow. more clouds on sunday, up to 63

and he told uc regents that yesterday in san francisco. the auditor said theño' issue instead was the budget process, not with napolitano. the board did tentatively approve an $813 million budget for the president's office yesterday, but one of the board members who also happened to be the house assembly speaker, was disappointed the board didn't hold off on january's tuition hike given this extra cash. napolitano said that money is already earmarked for several projects. >> in the meantime, at that same board meeting, uc regents for the very first time capped the number of out of state students that campuses can accept. that number is now fixed alt 18%. four campuses already exceed that cap, and that includes cal and ucla. those school caps are going to be coming later. uc system was accused of denying qualified california students acceptance in exchange for nonresidents because they pay more in tuition. they threatened to withhold

investigation to quit at all. now, there's still plenty of people investigating the white house, including another house committee, a senate committee, the fbi, special council. this is new video this morning of sam was talking about, the president boarding air force one, getting ready to leave for saudi arabia. trump yesterday denied he ever pressured comey to end the fbi investigation into michael flynn. we learned more about this very strange scene where the president blew comey a kiss a day or two after the ina inaugurati inauguration. they said comey told friends he didn't want the president to notice him in the room, so comey, who is very tall and wearing a blue suit, intentionally stood in front of the blue curtains in an attempt to fit in. comey's always been worried about appearing too friendly with presidents. barack obama used to inhim to play basketball, but comey thought it was inappropriate for a president and the head ofñr t nominally independent fbi to hang out. i want to leave you with one thing. video making its rounds with conservatives of comey's

bay. san mateo will be up to 80 degrees and the embark daro at 73. santa rosa and napa will see a high today of 90 degrees. so it will be very hot, especially for those inland valleys. as you're looking out the window, we're in the closet getting ready for the day. you will need a lights jacket. later on today, a day for short sleeves and also shorts. and don't forget the sunglasses, too, because we'll have very summerlike weather for not only today but the next couples. and looking at those temperatures for the peninsula right there along the coast, this will be one of the best areas in the bay to go hiking or spend time at some of the parks. we start out with some clear skies within the next couple hours, temperatures in the low 50s, and then upper 50s by 10:00. still very comfortable, especially if you're active, and by 2:00, it gets up to 68 degrees with breezy winds. san francisco really won't see much of a change in the temperatures until next week when it starts to cool down.

highs only in the low 60s by the middle of next week. inland valleys will be in the 90s for the next four days. and then it starts to come down a few degrees each day. the cooling trend will be more gradual for the inland spots. as we head over to mike, you're tracking now three significant crashes. >> that's right. the first we're showing is where sky ranger is located over the oakland hills. redwood road is currently closed because of this crash right at crest mont. that's not far from skyline, but it does not include skyline as part of the closure. you're looking at the hillside and right there is the car that crashes, it looked like it went off the roadway and through a tree. significant damage to the car. we have seen a number of emergency vehicles leave the scene. we'll track that. as far as i know, they still have the road closed for this investigation. let me show you where that is on the map. as you're approaching highway 13, the freeway between skyline and the freeway, that may be an issue for the morning commute approaching the freeway. you might want to get over to
