7:00 pm
they get extra rest. 1:18 to play. the way that nashville played, they have been aggressive when the chances have been there. as you pointed out, brian. when they have not been there they have gotten back into defensive position and they have clogged everything up. for anaheim, they just haven't been able to get it through. >> kenny: we have discussed the nashville depth throughout the series. bernier remains on the bench. nine different predators have game-winning goals in the playoffs. aberg with the go ahead goal tonight. >> joe: and the player to watch now, number 10 in black, corey perry. >> kenny: he has scored three overtime goals in the playoffs. extra skater is on the ice for the ducks. 1:18 remaining. another face-off win by sissons. from kesler. the predators clear. >> joe: what a key that has been for the last five or six minutes. >> kenny: here is vatanen for getzlaf. sissons to the puck.
7:01 pm
kept alive by the ducks. perry. behind the net ellis. fires around to fowler. final minute of the third period. 2-1, nashville. silfverberg, breaks his stick. gets the puck along to perry. it is picked off. it is sent down ice into the empty net. nashville predators take the 2-1 lead. silfverberg broke his stick. >> joe: he does a good job afterwards. perry tries to make the quick pass on to the stick of austin watson. bull's eye right in the middle of the net. how about the role players from nashville. how they have come up big and take a two-goal lead. >> brian: you need all types of
7:02 pm
guys to step up in situations like this and the predators have found it in this hockey game. austin watson in perfect position in the defensive zone was able to pick off that pass and what a fitting end to a perfect evening here for the nashville predators. >> kenny: predators with a late goal in game four force overtime. they lose on the perry goal. the announcement of the injury to johansen, without their captain, fisher. ducks score first tonight. and then bernier comes out to start the second period. bernier, back to the anaheim bench. aberg hits his face on the ice. he comes back to score the go ahead goal and then sent off for concussion protocol and hasn't returned. montour could not play the puck. down to 20 seconds.
7:03 pm
and now a penalty. >> joe: this will be against anaheim. i believe. with 20.6 remaining. a show of hands, who thought who was giving nashville any kind of a chance in this one. look at that. you can just see the effort. that is what they have exhibited from early on. it was anaheim with the early chances in the game and brian talked about pekka rinne, the goaltender for nashville. he stood tall early. they came out in the second period with a lot more energy to their game. they had to kill off the two early penalties in the first period. pekka rinne had a lot to do with that. and you talk about just a gutsy effort. to come back there. and that is what they have done. >> kenny: subban to the box. as he roughed up thompson.
7:04 pm
another key moment in the game that will be talked about, i am sure, by the ducks. manson high-sticked late in the second period that was not called. later in the same shift he cross-checked forsberg. with manson in the box wilson scored the tying goal. >> joe: forsberg gave him the high-stick. manson was cut out for him on a long shift. >> kenny: six on four advantage for the ducks. >> joe: fiddler taking the face-off. boy he has been good. inserted back into the lineup won a lot of face-offs from that spot and another. >> kenny: talking about fiddler on the face-offs. kesler. sissons. gaudreau. and now more penalties will be assessed. >> joe: fiddler went right back after kesler. now the officials are going to try to keep control of this which will be difficult to do
7:05 pm
because all of the players on the ice. remember, there is an extra player on the ice for anaheim. two. >> joe: ekholm and ritchie. right here they go. ritchie is a fighter. ekholm is not. >> brian: good job to get in there and separate that. what can happen, the nashville player can come over and that is when things really get out of control. >> joe: now sissons has two players after him. >> kenny: getzlaf and montour. perry and fiddler separated. >> joe: i tell you what, these officials for this situation right now are doing an unbelievable job. fiddler. look at him. he goes right over to the other side where kesler was.
7:06 pm
kind of weaves his way through. just four nashville players on the ice. six for the ducks. there is ritchie, a big, strong, tough kid. ekholm has a huge heart but he is not a fighter. trying to fight back. that is a physical mismatch in that department for ritchie. that is where the officials as a group. they did a heck of a job here trying to keep this under control. >> brian: i agree with you guys. you have extra men out there. the officials have to do a job of making sure that they were on top of it. they were. obviously you are going to have frustrated guys here in a situation like that. but i thought that the officials did a really nice job of handling that.
7:07 pm
>> kenny: for the nashville predators, guys, the biggest game in franchise history to this point. game five in a conference final without their leading scorer, ryan johansen. without their captain, mike fisher. you have to admire the way they battled through. they are going to take the 3-2 lead in this series. >> joe: they were the eighth in the west. that means you have to win road games every round in order to move forward. and they have been tremendous on the road in the playoffs. you talk about a courageous team that brushed off the injury to johansen. the injury to mike fisher. peter laviolette, he did a marvelous job of moving players around. trying to get balance with his group.
7:08 pm
>> kenny: they set a record for decibel level in game four at bridgestone arena. >> joe: i wish i had 25 tickets to sell. >> kenny: the nashville predators have come in to anaheim and they win game five over the ducks by the score of 3-1. they take a 3-2 lead in the western conference finals. ducks scored first. the predators with the last three. pontus aberg with the game-winner with just under 9:00 remaining in the third. much more to come from anaheim. we are headed to nashville. we will return after these messages.
