good to be with you. i'm frances rivera. this morning new images have surfaced of the man who police say is responsible for monday night's suicide bombing in manchester, england. they also say he is likely linked to a larger terror network. security cameras captured these images that according to sky news police reportedly believe to be 22-year-old salman abedi. they appear to show him at a shopping center outside the arena wearing a backpack similar to one apparently used to carry the deadly bomb. police are searching for possible accomplices with eight people in custody so far including one of abedi's brothers. the seventh, a woman, was arrested and released early this morning without charge. in libya police arrested his brother and father. bill neely joins us from manchester. investigations still on going. bring us up to date. >> reporter: good morning, frances. the counterterrorism operation is very active in manchester this morning. police and troops have been

called to a college here in the city. among the troops are army bomb disposal experts. meanwhile, police are still questioning eight men in connection with this attack. two more men were arrested here in manchester this morning. but there is a glitch in the police operation. they have suspended cooperation with the united states. this follows the leaking of information. it's thought by u.s. intelligence officials to "the new york times," because that newspaper has published photographs of the debris found at the bomb site, and it's quite detailed. police are furious. so that intelligence cooperation has ceased, and it will not resume, we are told, until the british police get an assurance from the americans that this will not happen again. indeed, prime minister theresa may is seeing president trump at the nato meeting in brussels later today. here this morning at 11:00 there

was a minute of silence, a respectful minute, meticulously obeyed, if you like, here. it was followed by defiant applause. that minute of silence was observed right across the uk. in manchester this morning there is a visit by the queen. she's coming to pay her respects. her exam schedule isn't known. meanwhile, the bomber, salman abedi, reports in germany suggest he was in dusseldorf four days before the bombing. this is once again an international inquiry, with one glitch, that intelligence cooperation with the u.s. has stopped at least for now. >> nbc's bill neely, knew. a stunning development in today's special election in montana. republican house candidate gianforte allegedly body slammed reporter for "the guardian" ben jacobs. he was trying to ask gianforte about the gop health care bill when the incident happened.

witnesses corroborated these claims and "the guardian" uploaded this aud yeah. >> i'll talk to you about that later. >> there's not going to be time. >> speak with shane, please. >> i'm sick and tired of you guys. the last guy that came in here did the same thing. are you with "the guardian?" >> yes, yu just broke my glasses. you just body slammed me and broke my glasses. >> the gianforte campaign releaseed a statement to say, after asking jacobs to lower the recorder, he declined. greg then attempted to grab the phone that was pushed in his face. jacobs grabbed greg's wrist and spun away from greg, pushing them both to the ground. the local sheriff who previously donated to gianforte's campaign, issued a citation for misdemeanor assault. making matters worse for gianforte, multiple newspapers rescinded their endorsement

overnight right before voters head to if polls. jacobs explained how he felt. >> i'm mortifying. i don't mind being blown off by politicians. i'm also terribly uncomfortable being part of a story. now it seems like i became the story. >> officials say after the confrontation, jacobs was examined at a hospital and then released. now to dallas where an vv burst into flames this morning following a police pursuit. authorities say they were chasing the driver who had children inside because he allegedly shot a woman earlier in the morning. the chase involving multiple police departments lasted for several hours. officers used spike sticks to slow the driver down. he eventually stopped and that's when a fire began. local reporters did see two children safely carried to ambulances at the site. president trump is now in

brussels and has a heavy day of diplomacy ahead of him. while world leaders may be welcoming the president is open arms, many locals were up in arms over his visit. nbc's hans nichols is in brussels this morning. how are belgians reacting to president trump and the reception there? >> reporter: there's a protest that greeted president trump when he arrived yesterday. today is the more formal stage of the trip. he's already met with president of the european union, donald tusk. he seemed to suggest there was a little daylight between president trump and the european position on where they are on russia. maybe a sticking point there. the big question today is when donald trump unveils this memorial to 9/11 at the new nato headquarters, outside of town, impressive glass building, will trump reiterate united states support for article 5 which says if one country is attacked, all members of the alliance will go to that country's defense. article 5 only triggered once in

interest rates sometime next month. as expected, also keep an eye on oil prices today. they've turned lower this morning, sharply lower as the opec meeting starts in austria. the group is expected to extend production well into next year in an effort the try to stabilize the oil markets. we do have right now oil prices falling sharply this morning. also fewer foreign tourists are apparently visiting the u.s. the u.s. share of international tourism has been dropping steadily since october. that could be due to president trump's attempts to impose a travel ban on some of the countries as well as a stronger u.s. dollar which makes travel to the u.s. more expensive. speaking of travel, memorial day is the unofficial start to the summer vacation season, but many workers aren't taking advantage of their time off. we have reports from glass door finding that americans only use around half of their paid vacation. lots of people also take their work with them.
