sunshine reaching into the low 70s. san francisco up to 61 degrees so we'll look at the bigger picture coming up in a few minutes and mike is getting info on a crash in san francisco. >> we just got this before we got on the air chp tells us they're running a traffic break and closing all lanes westbound over of the bay bridge ativ van ne ness. a crash happened a few minutes ago, still getting details on that. that will slow you down at the tail end of the bay bridge. if you get off at ninth you may see the backup forming. we'll show you the bay bridge from the oakland side. travel across the span heading at treasure island, that does move smoothly but this may affect pose the as they're getting towards san francisco i'll bring you more in a little

bit. it will be a busy day because happening today it's now in the hands of the jury. deliberations begin this morning in the trial of three santa clara county jail guards accused of beating an inmate today. >> today in the bay's christian says joining us at the hall of justice with what's next in this high-profile case. kris? >> reporter: all along, the santa clara district attorney's office says this is more than michael tyree's death, the jail inmate who died here, but also about an abuse of power on the part of the santa clara county sheriff's department. jereh lubrin, rafael rodriguez and matthew ferris could face life in prison if they are convicted of beating to death the bipolar inmate, 31-year-old michael tyree, back on august of 2015. it was the night before he was found dead in his cell with a spleen that was ruptured. now the three are also charged with the assault under color of authority, a 48-year-old juan

via, a second mentally ill inmate, who was beaten, allegedly, on the same night. now the defense for those three jail guards has claimed that tyree's death was not a homicide but that he died by his own hand, by injuring himself to the point of those internal injuries. some former inmates testified that they saw all three deputies in tyree's cell and that one of the deputies turned off the light which was usually left on. now, the jury has heard both sides of this case and today they will get their instructions so they can be deliberating the fate of these three jail guards. in san jose, kris sanchez, today in the bay. >> thank you very much, chris. developing this morning, an east bay community coming together to help support the family of a nine-year-old boy shot in the stomach on his birthday. a bullet struck the boy sunday night as he and his family walked their puppy in east oakland on fruitvale avenue. the family wassi inwalking to t

high. investors cheering the federal reserve's plan to scale back its massive balance sheet as it knows they will likely hike interest rates next month as expected. keep an eye on oil prices, they're swinging up and down, as volatile as opec meets in austria. the group is expected to extend production cuts well into next year in an effort to stabilize the oil markets. just a recap for you, the dow gaining 74 points so we're starting off at 21,012 and the nasdaq is up. we also have a new study by a worker advocacy group finding tesla saw higher-than-average injuries at its electric car factory in 2015 and that rate only dipped slightly last year. the reports by a nonprofit group called work safe shows more serious injuries which resulted in days of work. they were almost double the industry average. the data is based on injury reports filed by the u.s. government.

look at people up and at 'em this morning. maybe getting a good jump on the weekend. we have an extended one coming up and no doubt people will be traveling. all right. i admit i am looking ahead to the weekend right now. we're talking about bottlerock, i'm going tomorrow. >> i'm going to pump it up tomorrow, hello? >> different levels of where we are. >> it will be a great weekend. a little cool along the coast, inland areas it will be more comfortable. here's a live look outside at san jose. clouds rolling by this morning. it's been windy, it will still be windy today and as you step out the door, 56 degrees, you're feeling the breeze, it makes it feel cooler but it's not that bad as you look at these temperatures, 58 degrees right now as you head out the door this oakland. and looking live at palo alto, i want to show you the temperature trent for sunnyvale as it will

stay in the 60s most of the day and will briefly hit that 70-degree temperature then it comes down by early afternoon. looking at the high temperatures in gilroy today up to 70 degrees, 72 in milpitas, for the east bay we'll have 70s for the inner by a and then upper 70s for spots like antioch and oakland, up to 68 degrees today, 58 at half moon bay while belmont will be at 70 degrees and 71 in the mission district. 69 today in novato. so temperatures continue to come down and you definitely need some long sleeves or a light jacket as you head out the door this morning but don't forget sunglasses because even though there will be clouds to start that sun will break out later today and you'll wish you had them. especially if they're nice and clean. dust them off, put them in the case and get out the door this morning. as we go throughout the day in oakland, we'll see those temperatures at lunchtime at 64

and 67 at 4:00 before it cools off shortly before sunset. we keep the breezes in san francisco. today the high will be up to 61 degrees and then you see as we head into memorial day it will be a touch warmer, but only by a few degrees. we'll also see that for the inland areas, but today really nice, 75 degrees and heading up to 80 by sunday, 83 degrees on memorial day. as we head to mike, you're tracking what's happening as you head out the door. in san francisco we have a good update. a smooth drive for most of our speed sensors, we look at where we saw the slowing off of the bay bridge, that has cleared from westbound 80 on to northbound van ness. you see a little slowing as cars make their way into the city streets and get over perhaps to the golden gate bridge, all connectors cleared. no problems at the bay bridge toll plaza so we move to the tri-valley. here's what i was talking about, the closure of the fast lane in

each direction. let's look at what we have on our camera. there's road work going on. the fast lane has been blocked because they're repairing a sign. one plane that each direction is still affected, possibly until 5:30. they're repairing the sign but it's a distraction. go slow around the cone zone and keep people working safe. let's go out to waze. 680 is still the fastest route if you're going from dublin toward fremont. off couple other routes but they're taking five or ten minutes longer so you make your choice. and make it on the team you join. nbc bay area, that's the team you saw on the map. you access that by going to your waze app, selecting your profile and selecting the team called nbc bay area as wears ai ar yy . back to you. you have eyes and ears everywhere, mike. thank you very much. 4:48 on thursday and another scare on a tarmac, this time out of texas.

a pair of planes loaded with passengers clipped their wings last night at that airport. the united airlines and american airlines planes colliding at austin bergstrom international airport. the american flight was taxiing to the gate and the united flight was taxiing to the runway. they clipped wings. >> it was panic. it was unbelievable, you could see the actual wings hit together and it's just shock. >> the faa hasn't said who's to blame for that collision. we're getting a closer look at the wall of debris that buried highway 1. this is about 40 miles south of big sur. engineers and geologists looking into whether there's still a road where that slide came down on saturday night. caltran says it has no idea when highway 1 will reopen. an update now on the fixes at the main spillway at the oroville dam. construction crews a s ars are
