friday morning. need we say more. let's take a live look outside. transamerica pier this morning. a little bit of patchy fog out there, but nothing like what we saw yesterday at this time. 4:30 in the morning. "today in the bay" starts right now. thanks for joining us. i'm laura garcia-cannon. >> and i'm sam brock. lots to get to. we're tracking a water main break. what's going on? >> chp isn't reporting any street closures but this is a fire engine on scene and they are looking for the source of the water main break and they are notifying residents that may be evacuated. no evacuations are under way. they are letting residents know nearby because they may have to

shut off the water. the timing is hopefully within the next 20 minutes and that means no water for residents nearby. they have not closed off any big streets with that area. we do have kris sanchez on the way to figure out more. she will have more updates for us, but for now no street closures and they are looking for the source of that water main break. i'll send things back for you. >> as we start out this morning, we are seeing some mostly clear skies as you get ready to head out the door, and it is going to be a warmer day than yesterday, so we're now at 52 degrees in the tri-valley, and we're not seek all of the low clouds and the fog like we had yesterday. it's 57 degrees in the east bay and 50 in the north bay. a cool start there, but then look at how we warm up this afternoon. up to 80 degrees in the south bay, and 77 degrees in had the peninsula. san francisco up to 67 degrees. we're looking ahead to the weekend. that's coming up in the forecast a little bit later. >> all right. thank you very much. all new this morning, san

jose police tell us nobody was injured when a police suv crashed into another car downtown last night this. happened just before midnight on north fourth street. actually right near the casino matrix. as you can see from the video, the cruiser appears to have taken the brunt of the damage. we don't know if there were one or two police officers inside that have suv, but, again, everybody is okay. the cause of that crash is under investigation. let's go live to a much more calm oracle arena that's still lit up this morning. boy, last night it was packed with excited fans as the warriors snag a win in the nba finals. the game to watch. warriors beating the cavaliers by 22 points. >> revenge may be sweet. was this the first time playing basketball. kind of looked like it last night. >> absolute drubbing. tom jenson joining us from oakland with more on the celebration from last night. >> warriors fans came screaming out of oracle arena after their team's impressive game one win. >> oh, yeah!

area news. back out live now to oracle arena. warriors coverage will continue throughout the morning. we know the fans are excited, but how about the warriors themselves? i bet they are. pete suratos will have locker room reaction coming up in our next half hour. all right. at colossal cluster fest going on in san francisco this weekend. that's the name of the event. comedians coming in, famous ones from all over the country. it's going to be happening at the bill graham civic auditorium. a lot of closures to tell you about though so be aware of this heading into san francisco this weekend. the amount of road closures happening around the city, no laughing matter. the gate right now is reporting that gross street is closed between polk and lark. that's going to last until wednesday afternoon. >> i think i'm having trouble with my mike. the only reason i'm not talking. >> otherwise, you know me. >> you'd be more than happy to chime n.fulton street closed between hyde and larkin, and polk closed down until monday

morning between hayes and mcalister and the polk bus line will be rerouted around the civic area closures. again, keep in mind, street closures will be going on. the "seinfeld" set there for days after this event. the three-day event features for than 70 comedians and musicians. mentioned seinfeld, ice cube, kevin hart. they are choosing the bay area to host this festival was a very easy decision. >> san francisco was a natural place for colossal clusterfest. it has a long history of presenting amazing comedy, legendary comics like robin williams are from the bay area. >> well, the festival lasts through sunday. obviously a reach history of comedians as that man was just talking about in san francisco. follow-up now. we're learning that a popular banquet hall at the center of a massive brawl could have its permits revoked. this is video posted to social media. you'll remember this.

dozens of people fighting at a wedding in fremont last month. it happened in a parking lot outside of the royal palace hall. the permit requires video cameras facing the parking lot and one security guard for every 50 guest. it the appears that that was not the case. right now that incident is under investigation. coming up next, getting your online orders more quickly and cheaper, how does that sound? walmart testing out a new program that doesn't require using more planes or cars or workers. just a detour on the way home. a look at a new strategy. and talk of a new chat app on facebook except you don't actually have to have a facebook profile to join this. why parents are skeptical. we'll give you new reasons to feel more comfortable after the break.

live at cnbc world headquarters. here are today's top business headquarters. wall street will try to build on yesterday's gains seeing the dow close at a record high for the first time in three months. investors reacting to prospects of economic data on jobs and today is the big data point of the week, the monthly jobs report. hiring is expected to have been strong in may, another signal of an improving economy which will likely seal the deal for a fed interest rate hike this month. the dow raising 135 points to 21,144 and the nasdaq up 48 to 6246.

walmart is testing a new program to have workers deliver online orders to customers on their way home. employees who opt into the program will get extra cash as an incentive. the test is now available at two stores in new jersey and one near walmart's headquarters in arkansas. the head of walmart's online business says the aim here is to cut shipping costs and get purchases to customers faster. and facebook wants to create a messaging app just for kids. reports say the company is working on a chat app aimed at teenagers called talk. it would likely be restricted to users 13 and older and would come with strict parental controls. the app also wouldn't require users to have a separate facebook profile. sam and laura, back over to you. >> the kids talk and the parents clearly listening to see what's going on. landon dowdy, thank you very much. >> bun bay area fire department will offer a how-to of sorts. the other fire department thinking about using drones. the menlo park district is

hosting a symposium for 50 fire departments in order to introduce zone technology and examine how other emerging technologies may benefit firefighters in the field. an interesting irony right now given everything that's going on on the world stage and the u.s. pulling out of the paris climate accord. right now concerns about rising sea levels will be discussed as a seaside event in the north bay. the martin county development agency is hosting an event called shrinking shores examining the impact of climate change on the shore line and that will be held at vinson beach from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. >> i'm hearing the weather is going to be very nice. >> is it a little one and studio bird? >> kari hall. >> good morning. yes, we will have an amazing weekend, and we're taking a live look outside at fremont, and the temperature trend starts out nice and cool in the upper 50s and then heading into the low

just a little bit warmer yesterday and that's been the trend all week long and up to 87 in concord and antioch and fremont will see a high today of 78 degrees. for half moon bay 61 degrees and 74 degrees in belmont and 67 degrees on the embarcadero today while novato will see a high of 82 degrees, an as we look outside in san jose. it's not as foggy and low clouds like we had yesterday morning. make sure you grab the sunglasses as you head out the door. we'll need that all day long. also because those temperatures will be warmer it will be a day for shorts, and more shorts weather for the weekend, so maybe you're making plans to head to santa cruz. throughout the morning we'll see the temperatures making it into the mid-60s. it will still be cool, even at lunchtime, but then we'll see the highs reaching into the mid-70s and later on this afternoon. it will be a nice evening to spend out near the coast. in san francisco we're up to 67 degrees today and some upper 60s over the next several days and inland areas up to the low 80s

for today and tomorrow and it will be a little bit cooler on sunday before those temperatures warm up a few more degrees heading into early next week. and heading over to vinay, what's happening as you head out on the roads and rails. >> well, we'll definitely still monitoring the water main break in belmont. it turnlgs out it's actually the 2600 block. earlier we reported it's actually the street right directly behind it, and there is currently a couple of crews on scene. no street closures. however, we did just receive word that it's filling anywhere between 2,000 to 5,000 gallons of water per minute and definitely something that we're trying to control, sooner than later, and especially because homes near that area have been notified. there haven't been any evacuations but they have been notified that there's a strong water flow. we're seeing a couple of blocks out there, elementary school, which, of course, a lot of kids out there. still early and hopefully they do get this under control. i know we have kris sanchez on

the way and as of right now no street closures in the area. i'll send things over to you. something we'll keep tabs on. >> b.a.r.t. has quietly pulled the plug on allowing overtime for its janitors. despite concerns it's loading to more filthy b.a.r.t. stations. three b.a.r.t. managers earned more than $100,000 in overtime, but in january b.a.r.t. took a freeze on both janitor overtime and new hires. brlt's leaders believe the freeze is leading to grungier stations, especially the busiest ones where there are a higher number of homeless people. follow-up right now. upon further review, whatever caused the orville dam spillway to fail in february remains mostly a mystery. an independent forensics team yesterday present some of its preliminary findings saying there is no easy answer to what caused that failure and that it was likely a combination of factors that are going to need months more of exploration and investigation to unturn. the failure is concern amongst experts saying it seemed to come

with very little warning. certainly we know about it new. if you're headed to the beaches in santa cruz this weekend you'll want to listen to this. >> about a dozen sharks spotted. experts say they are young great whites. larger sharks leave the area for the summer so the pup seals a little safer sticking around. >> they have for the past three years shown up, you know, as early as march. they start showing up in numbers in april and by may, june and july we find them right here. >> where i will not be. >> the sharks will likely stick around through august. consider you are warned. coming up next, california lawmakers not waiting for washington to figure out what to do about health care. the landmark bill they have approved that could pave the way for everyone in the state to be covered, but there are some major hurdles to tell you about. we'll explain next. first though happening right now, a major meeting at penn state university in pennsylvania. officials there discussing making some sweeping changes to greek life culture of course, or

care system across california. state senators yesterday approved a bill calling to replace insurance companies with government-funded health care for everyone. the bill now moves to it the state assembly, but many believe it has a long way to go before it ever sees the light of day. critics say there's many problems including how the $400 billion proposal would be funded. assembly members, meantime, approved a measure to end daylight savings time in california. the measure now moves to the state senate, but it still faces a long haul. lawmakers would have to decide whether to put california on standard time or daylight savings time year round, and then congress or the transportation secretary would have to sign off on it, and then it would be a state ballot measure so voters would have to approve it as well. >> i think that's a slam dunk. >> voters also approve whatever gives you more sleep, even if it's one-time deal. a police officer caught on

camera threatening residents with deportation. >> outrage over what was sewn and heard. vicki nguyen is here to expose the officer's comments and joins us with a report that will air tonight at 11:00. >> reporter: the san francisco police department has had a clear policy that says it does not work with federal agents to enforce immigration law. san francisco is one of the most ardent sanctuary cities in the nation, but now the internal affairs division is looking into whether an sfpd officer violated that rule. you may recall last month we took our undercover cameras to a san francisco street corner to show you a marketplace where stolen goods are sold right out in the open, everything from crab meat to raw steaks, but while we were doing our surveillance, officer josh frye walked up to a group of asian and hispanic men. take a listen to what he said. >> yeah, yeah, yeah. wait until we get ins involved no it. it will be awesome. we'll ship everybody back to their own countries. >> tonight at 11:00, we'll tell you what we learned about officer frye and how this wasn't his first confrontation on
