seven people died and nearly r50 were wounded in a rampage saturday night. while all the suspects were fatally shot by police officers authorities continue to investigate. they said 12 people have been arrested and law enforcement was searching for a number of addresses in london. nbc's chief foreign correspondent richard engel has more on this latest attack. >> reporter: just before 10:00 p.m., a van began to speed across london bridge jumping on and off the curb, swerving into pedestria pedestrians, coming to a halt on a street filled with bars and restaurants. >> just, you know, an accident. >> so the van came to a crashing stop? >> yeah. >> reporter: this group of lithuanian londoners out for a birthday celebration, then saw the three men jump out of the van that nearly hit them armed with knives. >> i think the bar manager, stabbed him like ten times. >> he stepped in?

>> yeah. >> reporter: this cell phone footage shows the men walking calmly through the market looking for their next victims. >> the guy was running after me but i managed to run away from him. >> he was running at you? >> yeah. >> reporter: s.w.a.t. teams arrive quickly a lly and in for ordering bargoers to get down. within minutes all three suspects were killed by armed officers. the vests the attackers were wearing that looked like suicide bombs turned out to be fake. the rampage left 7 dead and nearly 50 injured. many critically. now investigators are tracking down friends and relatives of the attackers to find out if they were part of a wider network. >> richard, thank you. i want to turn to lucy kafanov. she's in london. lucy, what can you tell us about the latest british response temperature attack? >> reporter: good morning, francis. the terror threat remains at

severe which means the attack is still highly likely as police continue to raid properties across london. we heard from prime minister theresa may speaking not once but twice initially after sharing a cobra meeting, saying police will be releasing the identities of the three attackers as soon as the operation is possible. it's still a live investigation. she also said 11 people remain in custody. as i mentioned, more raids in east london. no new people arrested, although more people taken in for questioning. police at this hour are still trying to get more info on the three terrorists. were they, as the islamic state claimed, a detachment of islamic fighters or were they perhaps loosely an organized group of neighbors, perhaps friends potentially radicalized in the uk in that pursuit there trying to round up anyone who may have nope these three suspects, attackers, to get more information there. we are getting new details on

innocent life and it's gone on too long. >> this morning president trump is turning focus to court brock executive order limiting travel from six muslim countries. people, lawyers and courts, can call it whatever they want but i'm calling it what we need and what it is, a travel ban. the justice department should have stayed with the original travel ban not watered down politically correct version submitted to the supreme court. he said, quote, we are extreme vetting people coming spot u.s. in order to help keep our country safe. joy conquered fear on stage at ariana grande's one love manchester concert. for the manchester attack that killed 22 people just two weeks ago. grande was joined by miley cyrus, justin bieber, the black-eyed peas and more spreading a message of defiance and love.

washington, d.c., this morning. tracie, what's coming up for the investigation? >> reporter: first of all, what could be the most explosive testimony of all, frances, james comey testifies publicly for the first time about his conversation with president trump. sources have said he felt the president was trying to pressure him on backing off on the russia investigation when he was in charge there at the fbi. the white house said the president would never do that. this will be the first public testimony about that closed door conversation. we also this week will hear from the director of national intelligence and the head of the nsa. two other top security officials facing the same questions. what were their conversations and interactions with the president and his team and were they trying to get the intelligence community to pack off this russia investigation. the other two will testify on wednesday. comey comes before lawmakers on thursday as they take what's really been the most significant testimony in weeks in this
