and good morning to you. good morning to you on this fine monday morning. a live look at san jose. it's monday again. what happened. good morning, everyone. i'm scott mcgrew, in for sam brock this morning. >> always seems to come back. >> every seven days. >> at least we're coming off a great weekend. i'm laura garcia-cannon. mike is here, kari as well. nice start to the morning. >> it is cool and clear. as we get a start out the door, it is all clear around the bay area. and we are starting out with chilly temperatures in the tri-valley. 48 degrees there. 54 in the peninsula. and 47 degrees in the north bay. no dense fog this morning in san

francisco. the north bay up to 86 degrees while san francisco topping out at 69 degree. it will be the warmest day of the week. talk about a cooldown coming up, and lanes are blocked now. >> we had a crash. a car fire, and then debris across all lanes just a short time ago. we have word it's down to singular lane blocked eastbound 24 getting away from the bay bridge and the maze. right around happy valley road. saw a lot of slowing that cleared up minutes after we heard the lanes cleared. westbound, the commute moves well over to the bay bridge. and these travel times look great as you're heading down the east bay with no problems. >> breaking news out of the east bay. six people out of their home after an early morning fire in hayward. this started around 2:00 a.m. not too far from jackson and sycamore. firefighters do not know how this fire started but they say

the flames quickly spread to the attic. the fire was knocked down quickly and everybody inside was able to get out safely. >> developing news out of london as investigators try to find new clues in the attack that killed seven people saturday. >> 12 people already behind bars. isis has claimed responsibility. a claim nbc news has not verified. richard engel has more from london. >> just before 10:00 p.m., a van began to speed across london bridge, jumping on and off the curb, swerving into pedestrians. coming to a halt on a street filled with bars and restaura s restaurants. >> the van came to a crashing stop? >> yeah. >> this group of lithuanian londoners out for a birthday celebration then saw three men jump out of a van that nearly hit them, armed with knives. >> i think there was a bar

manag manager stepped in front of me. >> this cell phone footage shows the men walking calmly through the market, looking for their next victims. >> i managed to run away from him. >> he was running after you. >> yeah. >> s.w.a.t. teams arrived quickly. and enforced ordering bargoers to get down. within minutes, all three suspects were killed by armed officers. the vests the attackers were wearing which looks like suicide bombs turned out to be fake. the rampage left seven dead and nearly 50 injured. now, investigators are tracking down friends and relatives of the attackers to find out if they were part of a wider network. neighbors say the suspected attacker who lived here didn't stand out. isis has called on its supporters to carry out attacks just like this one in the holy month of ramadan.

last year, isis put out a similar claim and ramadan turned out to be a very bloody month, so we might not have seen the end oit, and maybe not just here in london. richard engel, nbc news. >> new details on the death of an australian tourist at a san francisco hotel. at least one person has been arrested. police aren't releasing any more information. police say 33-year-old matthew bate got into a fight early friday morning outside a hotel. he later died at the hospital. police say it was a fist fight, no weapons were used. pete suratos is following those developments. >> 4:34 right now. a chaotic scene in portland with dueling trump rallies ending with violent, tear gas, and arrests. that violence erupted yesterday when a pro-trump rally met with at least four counter rallies.

towards the end, police say protesters from one of the anti-trump rallies threw bricks at officers. police fired back with tear gas. 14 people were arrested. more violence. this in the east bay. investigation under way after a police shooting in san leandro injured a suspect this weekend. this happened around 3:00 a.m. sunday in san leandro on st. mary's street next to 580. investigators haven't revealed what led up to the shooting, but they say they trapped the driver of a stolen van on a dead end street and neighbors say they her yelling and then gunfire. >> we were sound asleep and we heard, keep your hands on the steering wheel. >> then what? >> and then don't move. don't move. >> the driver of that van is in the hospital. he's expected to recover. neither officer was injured. police are reviewing body cameras. >> jury deliberations will resume this morning in the

penalty phase of the sierra lamar murder face. last month, jurors found antolin garcia torres guilty of murder. the defense is asking jurors to consider the abuse and neglect he suffereds a child. prosecutors argue garcia torres deserves death, telling jurors he never revealed where lamar's remains are located. >> 4:36. coming up, big action in the south bay as apple kicks off its worldwide developers conference. we'll tell you what's expected to be revealed this afternoon. >> a concert for manchester. remembering lives lost as british leaders deal with additional attacks over the weekend. the mummy has returned.

she is real. the mummy. rated pg-13. good morning. live at cnbc world headquarters, here are today's top business headlines. wall street will trine to continue their winning ways today. the markets largely shrugging off the disappointing jobs report on friday with the dow and nasdaq closing higher for the second straight week. oil prices are rising today after saudi arabia, ejept, bahrain and the uae cut ties with qatar. the dow rises 62 points friday, while the nasdaq was up 58. >> apple kicks off its worldwide developers conference today, an annual event where the company typically shows off new versions of its ios and mac software.

cricket ground last night. justin bieber, coldplay, miley cyrus among others joined ariana grande on stage for emotional performances. the concert raised money for victims of the suicide bombing, and ariana grande's concert may 22nd. 22 people were killed. well, coming up, a cool start to our day. kari, when will things warm up because i suspect they will? >> all today, it will be the warmest day of the week. we will be at 68 degrees already by 11:00. into the low 80s by early afternoon. it will be a day for enjoying the sunshine, as cooler weather is on the way. we'll talk about that coming up next. a smooth flow of traffic, but you know, there are a few folks waiting. not all the cash lanes are open. i'll let you know if anything unusual is going on. >> this is a little unusual. using a bird to save a horse. the amazing rescue in southern

see. rescue workers in southern california had to use a helicopter to save a horse that fell down a cliff in calabasas. rescuers harnessed the horse, flew it to a clearing they so they could have more space to let it free and help it along. he was sedated so the harness could be on in the first place. don't know how he fell off the cliff. imagine waking up during that? >> let's get you out of sedation and off onto the road. let's check the weather. >> it is looking good as you head out. no issues. it's a little bit cool. as we get a live look outside at san francisco, we don't have the really dense fog, but there may be misting going on for a little while, then all clear skies as we head through the day, and the temperature now at 52 degrees. we're at 56 degrees in oakland and 48 degrees now in livermore. san jose, 52 degrees. a cool start, but it will be a very warm afternoon. in fact, the warmest day of the

week, up to 87 in morgan hill. gilroy up to 89. milpitas expecting a high of 82. 86 in danville, and vallejo at 85. hayward at 78, and we'll see low 60s for the coast at half moon bay and palo alto. 78 degrees. san francisco reaching 69 degrees and the mission district, the marina district, up to 63 degrees. 83 in novato and santa rosa up to 86 degrees. we start out with a nice morning in san jose as you're getting ready for the day, a day for short sleeves and shorts, but maybe a light jacket to start out this morning, but you'll be peeling off the layers as the temperatures go way up through the rest of the day. as we go through the week, there will be a chance of rain in the forecast starting out on thursday evening. into early friday morning. it looks like this weather system moving in ahead of a cold front will bring us the chance of a pretty good shot of rain, especially for the north bay.

we'll be watching that as we go through the week, and then as we see the temperatures starting to dip toward the end of the week, it will be up to the low 60s for the end of the week, but today and tomorrow, the warmest days, up to 86 inland, and then by the end of the week, we'll see some of those showers moving in by thursday night into early friday. the weekend, though, all clear. and mike is saying there's some clearing, hearing about a carpet on the freeway? >> a rolled carpet. a sample square would be fine, i think, but a roll is affecting folks getting onto 580. the on ramp, the slowing you're seeing is typical, and no other slowing shows up on the sensors, even coming across through the north bay. we still watch this crash, east 24 at happy valley, it's blogging one lane. over here, b.a.r.t. has no delays. neither do any of the other

agencies. let's take you out to waze as well. waze reports your drive from fremont across the bay toward redwood city, just over a half hour no matter which way you take, but take the purple, because that's the best route across the dumbarton bridge. if you want to check, go on your phone any time of day, check your phone, go to your profile, check on our team because that's the one to join. we'll share that information with you and hopefully help you make a good decision. >> you saw the green lights on muni. it's back up and running this morning after a computer glitch stalled light rail service. that glitch happened sunday just before 4:00 in the afternoon. muni officials say that next bus muni prediction service synced with the trains during that problem. >> san jose mayor san liccardo will hold a community meeting to discuss public safety. it's at the park ranch library at 6:30 tonight. representatives from the police

department also expected to attend. >> mountain lions on the prowl. two spotted this weekend. san mateo county sheriff's deputies say there were two different sighting. the first was 10:00 saturday night on crestview drive. the second happened ubtwo hours later. somebody reported a big cat near their carport. people we talked to were taking in stride. >> not surprising, this area, huge open space behind us. mountain lions are bound to wander through. happens once every 18 months or so. >> deputies say if you see a mountain lion, don't run. instead, face the cat and make loud noises, try to make bigger. >> 4:49. coming up next on today in the bay, we investigate. >> wait until we get ins involved. it's going to be awesome. we're going to ship everybody back to their own country. >> police threatening deportation in one of the

it affects childhood development despite research that says otherwise. meanwhile, people in south san francisco have been told it is safe to drink from the tap again. this after someone tried to open a hatch on a water storage tank. the breach happened friday in the sunshine garden neighborhood of south san francisco. over the weekend, we learned preliminary tests found no danger. in addition to the testing, the city also flushed the system just to make sure. police are asking for information to track down the person involved. we're coming off a really, really nice weekend. and kari was telling us earlier it's going to be the warmest day of the week today. >> yeah, a little warmer than yesterday. if you're heading out to the coliseum this evening to watch the a's, it will be a nice one. the rest of the evening, dropping back to the upper 50s. we will have cooler air, maybe some rain in the forecast. coming up next.

get moving. you know it's going to be a great day, also a warm one. this is where we begin at 47 at santa rosa, livermore. san francisco, 51 degrees. as we go through the day, a lot of sunshine. warming up the temperatures, especially for the valleys. concord today up to 88 degrees while 67 today at half moon bay, and in san francisco, 69 degrees. we'll take a look ahead to some cooler temperatures as we go thru the week. that's coming up in a few minutes, and mike gets us out the door with a look at where you might be slowing down. >> here, san mateo bridge westbound, see the lights there? they continue to change. at first, there were flashing lights and a bunch of brake lights. it looks like they're slowing traffic down as you're heading over the high rise in the westbound direction. let's look at the map. the crash reported just over the high rise, about a half mile before you get to the landing. that will be an issue. the sensors not showing slowing, but the live camera does show you. a crash, we have one lane still
