we continue to follow this very closely. >> very, very sad situation there. we're talking about the warm-up that is on the way for the bay area. it's going to feel quite different from last weekend. >> yeah, and it's really going to stay with us for a long time, so that makes it even worse when we have several days of 90-plus degree temperatures for the inland valley. so that's what we are preparing for and looking right now. out your window and some of the microclimates, it's 56 degrees in the south bay, 57 in the peninsula, and san francisco's now at 52, 49 in the north bay, let's go to the south bay first to show you our high temperatures today. reaching 84 degrees in east san jose and 79 today in milpitas so our temperatures just a couple degrees warmer than yesterday as we started out with some cool temperatures, today we're up to 88 in antioch, walnut creek and concord, 87 degrees and hayward at 75 degrees. the peninsula looking at some low 70s here and it will still
4:47 am
feel very nice there looking at some low 70s for palo alto and the embarcadero at 75 degrees. 86 degrees will be the high today in santa rosa. now the seven-day forecast coming coming up at the bottom of the screen. it looks like that heat stays with us for quite a while. looking live right now at san jose, and you're getting ready for the day starting out with the need for some short sleeves and some shorts. it will be summer-like weather. also, don't forget the sunglasses and maybe the hat or the hat to give you a little bit of shade or protect your eyes from all of the sun that we'll see, not only today but the next several days, especially if you're going out to the giants game. we're going to have that sun just beaming down and some nice, cool temperatures here at first pitch will be in the lower 60s, mid 60s for the afternoon and a nice little breeze to help make it feel much more comfortable. also for the victory parade for the warriors, it will be also
4:48 am
very comfortable. we really couldn't ask for much better weather with some mid-60s but as that heat ramps up, we'll have an excessive heat watch that begins on friday, continues through sunday, where the valleys will be seeing those temperatures near 100 degrees, possibly, and for san francisco, upper 70s for the weekend, and sunshine, and for the inland valleys once again, highs into the upper 90s continuing into next week. this is pretty far out but i give it because this will affect the volume right now, making things over in livermore and the altamont pass a little bit lighter. westbound 580, that's the crash we're talking about. and we also see some slowing eastbound 580 heading into tracy so i'll make sure there's nothing going on there, likely just a road crew and westbound at grant line road, this activity on the shoulder, possibly sticking out into the slow lane there. we hear about a single truck
