tv   Today in the Bay  NBC  June 15, 2017 6:00am-7:01am PDT

6:00 am
we have calls out to the fire department to get more information. we'll let you know when we get it. warriors pride reaching a fever pitch because just a few hours from now the parade will take over the streets of oakland. >> more than a million people are expected to attend and a lot of folks are trying to get a good spot along the route. the parade starts on broadway. goes up grand around lake merritt and ends at the kaiser convention center. >> a live look at the end of the route. we'll have photographers all over this parade. yule eel be able to spot every player because we have cameras everywhere. today in the bay's pete suratos is at the beginning of the route with what fans can expect from the beginning. we're already at 6:00 a.m. that parade will start at 10:00 a.m. but fans have been here
6:01 am
early this morning. you see the fans over here and even as we're standing here you see oakland police right off this area is getting barriered off because you can see things are starting to pick up as the parade is going to be happening before you know it. i want to show you guys. we saw cable cars and it looks like to be some of the buses or those double-decker buses or floats, they'll be using for the players such as steph, kd, klay thompson, draymond green, they'll be riding in the floats as you'll see coming down this road on that parade route. as i mentioned, it's all about the fans, the fans have been waiting out here, excited to see their team and we spoke to a mom and her kids. now, they drove all the way up from l.a. they are warriors fans, i know l.a. fans don't want to hear that but they are warriors fans. here they are talking to us earlier this morning. >> i'm pretty excited because
6:02 am
i'll be happy to see steph curry, draymond green, klay thompson and all these other people. >> i think this is going to be their team. the lakers were my team, this is going to be their team. they're going to grow up and be fans and to bring them will be totally cool. >> back out here live with the fans waiting for that parade. the rally is taking place at the henry j. kaiser convention center. fans lining up there. they could start lining up there at 5:00 a.m. so we'll continue to talk to the fans and for the warriors fans out there, a spotted a player wearing a joe smith warriors jersey. i'm going to go look for him. we'll try to talk to him. that's cold school knowledge for you guys. i'll talk to him in the next half hour. live in downtown oakland, pete suratos, today in the bay. >> pete has so many rough assignments. the streets of oakland are about to be jam packed with excited fans. you can expect road closures and you should know about them.
6:03 am
>> mike inouye is here to show you how to maneuver around the parade. >> i've taken this opportunity to head out to fremont and i'm floating by the platform. we just had a train leave, they'll be coming through the area. this is going to be your quickest route into and out of the area right now. let's take you to the maps. we're talking art bart stations in san francisco, millbrae, all the way on the peninsula but as par out as pittsburg and bay point. those happen to be the two busiest bart stations right now. there's about 5% more as far as ridership afternoon that they had in 2015 for a similar parade. we also had a championship then. this is the route you've been talking about but we're looking at the bart station on the 12th and 19th street station. those are larger stations and they were open for the majority of the parade but they had to close them for short periods of time in 2015 as well. avoid the lake merritt station. i know that's close to the rally
6:04 am
and folks want to use that but it's the smallest station. it had to close for the majority of the parade and rally last time in 2015 broadway, jackson and oak street will close at 7:00 a.m. that's less than an hour. if you're not lucky you have no drive to oakland for that parade, don't, consider taking bart through the area, that will take you past the parade without any delays. avoid lake merritt and ac transit will have reroutes. it has closures already. avoid broadway. at 9:00 they're closing off every cross street except for 14th and 20th. those are the only two you can use to get across. >> don't forget to show us your team spirit. at nbcbayarea.com we have a swlad show. tag us on facebook or twitter, we'll have continuing coverage from beginning to end.
6:05 am

6:07 am
>> reporter: do you have any idea why jimmy lam did this? had there been any rumor or talk of someone being upset about excessive overtime? things like that? >> i haven't heard anything. i've just been watching the news myself trying to find out what's going on, why he flip out, why he couldn't talk to somebody, other than that i don't know. >> reporter: is overtime a problem a problem? >> is overtime a problem? i've been here almost a year. i haven't heard anything about it being a problem. everybody gets over time so i don't know. i haven't heard anything about that. >> reporter: meanwhile, everybody is trying to catch up from yesterday. >> well, we don't have that much to do this morning. we're trying to catch up from yesterday so it's kind of laid back. everybody is hugging each other. that's all, everybody's being together right now. we're always together but today is one of those days everybody. >> reporter: isaiah, thank you

6:15 am
obstruction of justice. that's new reporting from the "washington post" this morning. the report says the investigation has expanded to the president just days after he fired fbi director james comey may 9. that means it began before robert mueller was appointed may 17. a spokesman for president trump's personal lawyer didn't comment on the investigation but said "the fbi leak of information regarding the president is outrageous, inexcusable and illegal." it should be pointed out, the "washington post" never said they got the information from the fbi. happening today, the parents of 22-year-old otto warmbier plan to speak out in their ohio hometown. comatose warmbier was returned from north korea this week. he was arrested there 18 months ago and that's when he was sentenced to 15 years hard labor for anti-state acts. warmbier is being treated at the university of cincinnati medical center. san francisco supervisors will reportedly consider a tough new ban on the sales of
