when he got there, the principal invited him to participate in the ceremony. you see he was putting on his cap and gown there, getting a little choked up. you're going to cry over this, aren't you? >> that is so sweet. well, right now at 6:00, we are getting ready for a heat wave in the bay area. >> yeah, the heat advisory begins today and it continues as we head into next week as well. so this is one of the areas, san jose, where we'll be tracking some high heat for the weekend. plus, breaking news overnight. the death toll climbs in the london high-rise fire, and the reason it could go up significantly from there. and the tributes keep pouring in for the victims of the u.p.s. shooting rampage in san francisco. how loved ones and friends and people along their routes are remembering them. because i looked over your shoulder and saw you were looking at the all-time records for temperatures that kari had posted. napa was like 113 in june. >> and it's going to get up to 105 this weekend, which is still really hot. but it's going to be not record-breaking, but definitely dangerous as you make plans for the weekend. the heat advisory now in effect for all of these areas shaded in orange, that does not include the immediate coastline, san francisco and that extends down toward half moon bay. so it will be very hot, solano county included in an excessive heat advisory. that's where you definitely need to take it easy. i want to show you some of these high temperatures we're heading toward today. napa up to 97, 98 in concord and san jose 89 degrees. we will have some cool temperatures along the coast and places where you can go and cool off. i'll talk more about that coming up. mike gives us an update on a wrong-way driver. >> reported on the peninsula. we saw in fact live, we saw chp

flying down the southbound side checking out to make sure everything is okay. three units were assigned to check this out. three checked without incident. i haven't seen any disturbance and thank goodness no crashes. i'll show you the map the rest of the peninsula, an easy drive right now. 92 will be a concern later on. kari is talking about the heat heading toward half moon bay. those are going to be very crowded over the weekend so keep that in mind. avoiding areas farther over where there's dangerously hot weather like the tri-valley, which is a pleasant drive right now. a little build right here through hayward and union city. that's actually pretty light, very light for those portions of the east bay. as we look over towards the bay bridge, we do have the metering lights on, but look at these travel times. just 15 minutes at the top of your screen from highway 4 to the bay bridge. we usually see that maybe 4:thei4:30, 5:00. but the metering lights are on

at the bay bridge toll plaza. a smooth ride on these transit agencies. normal routes through downtown so the parade only lasts one day. maybe we can have another one next year. some breaking news right now. overseas within last couple of hours we've learned that the death toll in london has now risen to 30 in that dead low high-rise tower. scotland yard is opening up a criminal investigation into the fire. this as firefighters have still not been able to conduct a full search of the building. they say they will not be able to do that until the support structures are in place to shore up the tower so the death toll could rise from 30. breaking news to get to. the russian defense ministry says that they might have killed isis' leader, top leader in an air strike. russian officials posted on facebook that an air strike on may 28th killed 30 field commanders and up to 300 militants during an isis conference. they are also saying that there are reports that ibrahim abu

bakr al baghdadi, isis' leader, was also killed. u.s. officials are working hard to try and confirm that. there have been multiple reports of baghdadi's death in the past that have ultimately turned out to be false. we are learning more about the men killed in the u.p.s. shooting in san francisco. drivers benson louie, wayne chan and also michael lefiti were shot and killed boy their fellow co-worker, jimmy lam, on wednesday. replacement u.p.s. drivers broke the bad news to customers that their driver wayne chan will not be coming back. >> this morning i was walking to work and i saw the u.p.s. drivers around the block. i was like, oh, god, i can't wait to see wayne to make sure that he's okay. and then they came and told us. >> he was a really caring guy. so of course he's going to get involved with everybody. and we're going to get involved

with him. it takes a piece of my heart. >> folks just see them every day. people are also grieving for this driver, 50-year-old benson louie who was also a devoted volleyball coach and a father figure. the memorial for mike lefiti continues to grow in die mamond heights, which was his route. there was also a life taken too soon. an antioch boy was killed during an accidental shooting last week. friends and family gathered to remember 15-year-old marcos garcia. he was shot with a pellet rifle by a friend. it was accidental. the viewing will be at haoly cross cemetery and the funeral is tomorrow at immaculate heart. the san jose police department is looking at its biggest batch of recruits in three years. the san jose police academy has

54 recruits this year, tying the number of recruits from 2013. as you know by now, the department has been facing a staffing crisis in recent years. happening today, something that scott mcgrew has been reporting for us this morning. president trump setting his sights on cuba and u.s. relations with the island nation, redefining them. again, in miami, the president will announce new and revised policies that are meant to stop u.s. cash flow to cuba's military and security services. at the same time, president trump hopes to maintain recently re-established diplomatic relations that occurred under the obama administration allowing u.s. travelers to visit the island. it is 6:06. america's pastime is taking on new meaning at the nation's capital. thousands of people showed up last night for the annual congressional charity baseball game after a gunman opened fire on the republican team's practice on wednesday. a congressman and three others were badly injured. >> congressman who was of course still recovering this morning. blayne alexander is joining us live on capitol hill with a

closer look at what proved to be a very emotional baseball game. blayne, good morning. >> absolutely, sam and kris. good morning to you both. you know, this tradition dates back 100 years, more than 100 years, back to 1909. so a long-standing tradition of bringing republicans and democrats together on the baseball field. of course many people say that that unity was never more necessary than last night. america's favorite pastime for many became america's healing. >> you can see it on this field, like everyone is really supportive of each other. >> throwing out the first pitch, officer david bailey, one of the two capitol police officers who returned fire at wednesday's practice. and a video message from president trump. >> by playing tonight, you are showing the world that we will not be intimidated by threats. >> before the cheers, a moment of silence at second base, the position that would have been played by congressman steve scalise, and where he was standing wednesday during practice when a bullet ripped

through his hip. he remains in critical condition. >> this is america, and as i've told people before, america doesn't give in, america doesn't give out. when we get punched, we punch back. >> the colors of the night, purple and gold, a nod to the wounded congressman's beloved alma mater, lsu. >> i think it's maybe a distraction that a lot of people on capitol hill need right now. >> the final score 11-2, a win for democrats, who then gave the trophy to republicans to go in congressman scalise's office. and of course the focus of last night's game was to raise money for charity. and they certainly did that in a major way. sam and kris, just a quick comparison for you. last year's game raised about $500,000 for charity. this year's total topped $1 million. >> people definitely rising to the occasion. thank you, blayne. all the rain we had this winter has not been a good thing for our beaches apparently.

the 27th annual beach report card found billions of gallons of polluted water went out to the ocean. only one bay area beach made the list of top ten most prutd aoll. the rest of the beaches were in southern california and one was in humboldt county. it is 6:09. we're making plans to hit some of the beaches this weekend as temperatures of will be very hot inlane. we start out with fairly mild weather this time of year reaching into the low 60s as you step out right now at the peninsula. north bay 60 degrees and we start out at 58 degrees in san francisco. making plans to go to the a's game today, coming off of a win yesterday, it's going to be nice again this evening. temperatures in the mid-70s dropping back into the mid-60s later on tonight, so nice there. we'll talk about where it really gets hot coming up in a few minutes, but mike has something new in fremont. >> i do, and it's not a pleasant

update. most of the bay does have a pleasant drive right now. we're looking at a little more traffic for hayward and union city. i'll talk about that in just a second. but this over here in free maun -- fremont is a disabled vehicle. it's a motorcycle and with the rider standing in the center divide, that will be a distraction, southbound 880 by warren. so we'll track that hopefully no everybody's sake they get a crew to help out and get out of the center divide area. northbound 101 light build through san jose. that's the typical pattern, starting late for the south bay. a little build for the san mateo bridge because things are moving for 880 and now moving to the peninsula. back to you. coming up next, a man who leads police on a dangerous high-speed chase and then finds himself in a rooftop standoff. how the dramatic incident came to an en. and breaking business news this morning. it turns out someone can afford whole foods. it's amazon. we'll bring you the very latest coming up.

(mike ad libs) warm sunshine this morning as you get ready to head out the door. here's a live look at palo alto, and we are going to see that sun heating things up. here's a look at the temperature trend for sunnyvale. we'll be at 73 degrees at 10:00 this morning and some mid-80s by early afternoon.

upper 80s later today, well above our average high temperature for mid-june. 78 degrees. heading into the weekend, it gets really hot. i'll talk about that coming up at 6:18. and we're looking at the bottom number, that is southbound 880. a little light build down in toward the san mateo bridge but that's what we have this friday. we'll talk more about your commute coming up. mike, kari, thank you very much. some new video into our newsroom shows a wild chase in southern california. it ended with a man fleeing to a rooftop. all of this last night in los angeles. we're listening to the chopper people there describing what's going on. there's the chase. he gets out of the car and starts running, ends up on top of the roof. police say the driver sped through red lights, swerved into oncoming traffic and eventually crashed into a stop sign, ran away, ended up on that roof. early reports suggest that he

was wanted in a kidnapping investigation. breaking news just moments ago. amazon says it's going to buy whole foods markets. >> amazon has been pushing hard into the grocery market to start with. >> it has, and now they have a grocery chain. that news just hitting a few moments ago. amazon is going to pay shareholders $42 a share. so that is a deal worth $13.7 billion. whole foods ceo john mackey will remain the ceo of the grocery store chain after the deal closes. again, amazon buying whole foods. we'll continue to track this, but this is brand new news just into the newsroom. netflix has reversed itself, says it will take part in a net neutrality protest next week. other websites, including amazon, are taking part. the fcc under president trump plans to reverse moves made by the same fcc under president obama made to protect net neutrality. tech stocks continue to decline. apple has lost 7% over the last

five trading days. in fact reuters points out if you take the five top biggest tech companies, their combined losses just in the past week is enough money to buy the airplane maker boeing for cash. shares of snap, the parent company of snapchat, have fallen to $17 a share. that's the company's ipo price. so put another way, the company is no more valuable now than it was when investors first bought in. and jetblue has started testing facial recognition at boston's airport. so instead of a ticket, you'll just walk past the scanners and it knows who you are. this is early days and some people not real excited about an airline scanning their face. delta trying the same thing with baggage claim so you know you get your bag. i've got to tell you, not often to i come back from someplace looking the same. las vegas, cancun, sometimes i look a little different. >> a little tired maybe? >> no, tanner.

that. i know where i'll be this weekend. >> you can get either lightning or storm, the new character. it's cool for about one route but then every time you hear "take a right" it's a little annoying. >> so you're going to have to go with a new narrator. >> only for the trip to the movies and then i'll turn it off. so we're going to have a great movie weekend, somewhere air conditioned, as our temperatures will be heating up this weekend and we'll talk about that. look at san francisco right now, it's foggy. that's what will keep it nice and cool and keep it cool along the coast as well, so make sure you bring a jacket to the beach and you'll be wearing short sleeves and shorts in the valleys. just a short drive changes everything. here's a live look outside at ocean beach this morning, all clear there. the temperature at 57 degrees. the seven-day forecast is now up at the bottom of the screen showing a day of triple-digit temperatures. this is also where we'll see some high heat in sunol. we start out 61 degrees.

whatever you have to do, get it t done early. look at how hot, up to 98 degrees in concord today, napa 97. palo alto reaching 88 degrees and san francisco will see a high of 77. somewhere nice and cool to go golfing will be at half moon bay. there will be some fog to start out during the morning, but then as we head over toward the tri-valley, hitting the links there, it will be up to 90 degrees this afternoon. so pick your golf course, depending on the temperatures. and looking at russian river valley for the weekend, if you're planning to head farther north in the valleys, it will be reaching into the upper 90s all weekend long. some spots even hitting the triple digits. san francisco stays very nice. we're in the mid-70s over the next several days, even into next week. and then for the valleys, we see the triple-digit temperatures coming in there more widespread on sunday. the heat advisory will be in effect and that continues into next week. this is the longest stretch of triple-digit temperatures we've

had since 2014. so be careful out there. mike is showing some slight slowing. >> that's right, it's a friday light so we expect lighter volume of traffic. we'll also talk about the heavy traffic affected by that forecast you just showed, kari. we're showing a smooth drive with a little light slowing through hayward and also at the bottom of your screen for 101 northbound through san jose. typical for this pattern on a friday, but even lighter because we're into summer months now and schools are off right here for vacation. there's your slowing, hayward and union city. a little build across the san mateo bridge. that's not bad for 92 right now. let's look at your map. we're talking about big high temperatures kari has been showing. let's get you to waze and get an alternate route. if things get too hot for san carlos, we're looking at alternate routes to get to half moon bay. the blue one might seem crazy to you, but trust me when 92 gets bad, that is a good alternate and it shows you how quickly to get to the coast through pacifica. it might give you alternates as far as your destination as well as your route.

welcome back. 6:23 on your friday. nbc bay area responds saves viewers $30,000 this week. >> our consumer investigator is here to show us how. >> this week our team helped some particularly frustrated consumers. here are a few of them. michael in oakland asked us to help solve a problem that he considered to be the most miserable experience with customer service in his life. we got him a $900 refund involving back-ordered furniture. winston in daly city battled an appliance manufacturer for 90 days and got nowhere so he wrote us. we took action and settled that $2,000 squabble. winston wrote back and said it is amazing what the power of the news media can do to get a response from big corporations. it's true. sometimes cases sit stagnant for weeks or months until we pick up

the phone. sometimes you don't even do anything special, but it works. our big win of the week was helping ryan in san jose. the manufacturer of his new car bought it back correcting what ryan believed to be a $22,000 mistake because he considered that car to be defective. we added all those cases and others to our running tally. the money we've recovered for our nbc bay area viewers now totals $887,559.23. if you have a consumer complaint, call 888-996-tips or go online to nbcbayarea.com/responds. have a great weekend. a family of bears found a new home with the oakland zoo after the bears were caught breaking into somebody else's house. a mother black bear and her three cubs raided a home at the pine mountain club near bakersfield back in may. the homeowner tried to shoo them away but mama bear took a swipe at her, injuring the homeowner's arm. so wildlife experts, instead of

bay area heat wave. we )re getting ready for triple digit mp right now at 6:30, bay area heat wave. we're getting ready for some triple-digit heat as we look live at downtown san jose. one of the hot spots the next few days, but there are a few of them. thanks for joining us, i'm kris sanchez. >> and i'm sam brock. we're talking about triple-digit heat coming up, a streak of triple-digit head dayt days. >> it's been quite a while since we've had a long period where the valley stayed that hot. at least it will be nice and cool in san francisco. we keep those temperatures down there, reaching into the upper 70s. we stay in the 70s for the weekend, extending into next week. where it really starts to get hot will be the valleys. starting today continuing into

tomorrow and into next week as well, reaching as hot as 103 degrees next wednesday. i'll talk more about that and we'll talk about some events going on around the bay area this weekend. that's in about eight minutes. but mike says folks are finally starting to hit the road. >> finally. it's friday, it's summertime so we tend to see a later, lighter commute. we had that big celebration yesterday which has cleared and people may heading back to get a little more work done before the week is over. we have light build for those portions of the freeway, very light throughout the rest of the bay as well. looking at travel times getting over towards the bay bridge. we're over 22 minutes. metering lights are on at the toll plaza. our live camera does show it's starting to get crowded on the flat section so highway 92 westbound sohows a lot more traffic than it did a half hour ago. the peninsula still moves great. kari mentioned it a second

ago, we are getting ready for a heat wave here in the bay area, i think she said 103 degrees in some places over the next few days here. >> and it could be bad news for folks headed out to the alameda county fair, which starts today. chuck coppola is live at the fairgrounds with the steps that you should take if you're headed outside. good morning, chuck, and the rest of the steers. >> reporter: that's right. let me make sure this is very clear. this is not a shot of me, this is a shot of cattle here at the pleasanton county fair. they're getting ready to have a cattle drive down main street to kick off the alameda county fair. that starts at about 10:00 a.m. it's very pleasant right now in pleasanton, but it's going to get hot. if you're coming out to the fair, bring sunscreen, wear a hat, drink lots of water. the fair runs through july 9th. kids are free until 5:00. sunday dads are free on dads day until 5:00. they're going to have the cattle

drive that goes through main street here in pleasanton, kicks it off, goes at 10:00 a.m. the fair opens at 11:00 a.m. it's close d on mondays and tuesdays but once july hits, it's straight through. if you're going to be outside, here's some precautions we would like to pass on from the red cross, heat tips. anyone who might be working outside today, try to either postpone some of those outdoor chores until just the morning if you can. try to avoid doing those things in the afternoon. use a buddy system. if you're working outside or working in the yard, tell somebody. you know, i'm going to be outside doing some work, keep an eye on me from time to time. poli please check on those loved ones, friends, relatives, who do not have air conditioning. and lastly, check on the animals. if you're leaving your home, please leave a window open for them if you don't have the ac on. hot cars can be deadly for

meeting that morning on the third floor and singled out his victims, telling other workers to get out of the room. we're told lam may have believed he was being belittled pie some of his fellow drivers. he had recently filed an overtime grievance. happening today, the two men arrested with the deadly ghost ship warehouse fire could be officially charged in court. they are facing 36 counts each of involuntary manslaughter. >> pete is live outside the santa rita jail where the men are being held to explain what could happen in court today. good morning, pete. >> reporter: good morning to you, kris and sam. both men at this hour are behind bars here at the santa rita jail in dublin and expected to be arraigned later today in oakland around 8:30 a.m. this morning we're actually getting new details on how one of them is pushing back on the  allegations made by the alameda county d.a.'s office. i'll show you a picture of the two men. to your right is max harris. he spoke exclusively to the

"east bay times" doubting those allegations made by the d.a.'s office that he blocked off the second floor stairwell of the warehouse during preparations for the party that took place in that building that night back in december. prosecutors argue that party goers had to use makeshift stairs to escape the fire which resulted in the death of 36 people. harris went on to say in that "east bay times" article that he had no idea where these allegations came from and was also described in that piece as looking gaunt. now, both men face 36 counts of involuntary manslaughter. almenez was the master with harris being the second in command. since harris was still in custody, today's hearing in oakland is at 11:00 a.m. >> thank you, pete. also happening today, san francisco reveals the results of this year's homeless count. the report says homelessness increased in the richmond

district and tourist hot spots like fisherman's wharf. in the rest of the city, the homeless population actually decreased by about a half percent to nearly 7500 people. new this morning, some palo alto residents reportedly fuming about what they say is a spike in the number of idling cars seen around town. the concern here is that it's leading to more plougollution. one person in particular is being singled out. mark zuckerberg who lives in palo alto. anti-idlers accuse his security staff of leaving their cars running too long. facebook actually responded to the claims saying the staffers take every effort they can to limit, quote, unnecessary pollution. other groups also being singled out include shuttle and van drivers near caltrain stops. also idling uber and lyft drivers. more than a million people on the streets of downtown oakland and around lake merritt for the big warriors parade.

we're looking at what was some of the setup. >> yeah, a full city of people out there yesterday. b.a.r.t. says more than 487,000 riders ended up using the trains as of 9:00 last night, which is actually 3% less than 2015. >> so a lot of folks were there, including the stars. steph curry, k.d., klay thompson and also draymond green. and they made their way through the city. >> they did, it was really cool to watch. historic to watch. folks were packed in there, standing shoulder to shoulder cheering for the golden state warrior. those fans did not want the fun to end at that point. >> the whole week, man, who knows. might go for the whole week. >> everybody is coming together because we all rock with the warriors. we've been doing this since they was paying us to go to the game. >> that's a true fan. >> let me just say one of the floats out there yesterday was the fans, the ticket holders, who have had their tickets for 40 years or more. they have stuck with the team through thick and thin and they were just saying, yes, we have

slowing down toward san jose so that's a little change over the last ten minutes. we're looking at your bridge delays, a little slowing across the san mateo bridge and also the bay bridge with the metering lights on. san mateo bridge is going to get more crowded as more folks head across 92 and over towards the coast perhaps because it should be warm this weekend as kari will talk about in a second. a quick look at 101 through palo alto, a light drive right now. not far from this shot is the costco. they have a walk-in refrigera r refrigerator, it's great on hot days as well. >> i was just there yesterday, you're right. it is nice and cool in there. >> kari, we're going to need a little more than lettuce to stay cool. >> it's going to be one of those weekends we're trying to do anything to stay cool. along the coast, all you have to do is take a short drive. 72 degrees tomorrow for the high temperature. the bay will be at 85 and 97 for

the valleys. on father's day, make some plans with dad to try to stay cool. maybe not hitting the golf course unless you're along the coast. it's going to be 101 inland and 75 degrees for the coast. let's check out some events going on this weekend. the soy and tofu festival happening tomorrow. this is an event you can come and meet mike. we'll also have nice cool weather with our temperatures in the low 60s to start and then low 70s throughout the day, just perfect. but it will be hot at plaza de cesar chavez for tomorrow in san jose for juneteenth in the park. it's going to be in the low 90s in the afternoon hours. try to find a spot in the shade and drink lots of water and try to stay cool. also for dancing on the avenue, willow glen throughout the afternoon. our temperatures will be in the low 90s. then it takes a while before it cools off, but definitely nice and cool as we look at this view. but check out these temperatures in squaw valley. it's going to be in the low 80s there.

imagine that, looking at some snow-capped mountains while you're wearing short sleeves. and for the yosemite area, there will be a slight chance of thunderstorms on sunday, so heads up about that but temperatures are going to be very nice heading throughout the weekend there. not so nice these temperatures in napa valley. look at this, today up to 97 degrees. and by sunday, 106 degrees. you'll want to make sure you find some air conditioned vineyards if you're going over there and taking a look at some of the vineyards in the napa valley region. but for carmel valley, very rare that we get temperatures reaching 90 degrees. that's going to happen this sunday. i'll have a look at the temperature trend for san jose. that's coming up in about three minutes, kris. 6:41 right now. coming up next on "today in the bay," the wet winter was good news for the drought, but it could lead to other kinds of problems. the reason all that winter snow and rain could lead to earthquakes.

the president of the united states just moments ago confirming he is under investigation, but he wants to see the evidence. we'll have the latest. and the major stock indexes all down just a little bit so far to start off your friday here, scott. as we see, the dow jones industrial average has dipped 34 points at 21,324. the stock to watch this morning is actually over on the nasdaq. amazon is up about 3% in early trading on news that it bought whole foods for almost $14 billion. that is breaking news in the business world this morning. we're back with more news coming up in two minutes.

is what causes earthquakes. it turns out, though, that might not be the only thing triggering earthquakes here in california. a new study by uc berkeley researchers suggest that snow and rain in the winter months may actually act as essentially weight on california's mountains, and then when the state dries out in the summer months could lead to the earth's crust rebounding, causing a seasonal uptick in small quakes. there may be some truth to the term earthquake weather after all. a frightening scene near the u.s. open golf tournament in wisconsin. we'll get to that in just a moment. but we want to continue talking about our heat wave, i believe. that's why we're looking at the oracle arena. and let me get to that in just one moment. >> air pollution -- >> there it is. >> we take a peek through our oakland camera, oracle is still reeling from this week's big win -- or i should say celebrating from this week's big wayne. the story is not about the

stadium, it's a study on how pollution can affect the city block by block. air quality can vary tremendously within a city's parameter. researchers used google street cars to collect some of that data. they believe that the results could help people avoid polluted areas. so this is a story i was trying to get to too early, sorry about that. a frightening scene near the u.s. open golf tournament in wisconsin. this is not what it's supposed to look like. a blimp flying over that event crashed into an open field and then you see it just burst into flames. the pilot was the only person onboard at the time. police say he parachuted out before the crash but still suffered very serious injuries, including severe burns. no one on the ground was hurt. this just in this morning, the jury deliberating the fate of bill cosby during his sexual assault trial just asked the judge another question. this happened just a few moments ago, according to reports. now, yesterday jurors told the judge they could not agree on a verdict and the judge sent them

back to deliberate further. the jury of seven men and five women say that they're stuck, they're deadlocked and can't come to a unanimous agreement on any of those three points of aggravated indecent assault. they have already deliberated for a total of 40 hours. they're back at it again today. cosby and his lawyers are taking this as good news, according to his spokesperson. >> today we have really seen mr. cosby get the justice that he was looking for. >> cosby is accused of drugging and sexually assaulting andrea constand, who you just saw in that video. president trump is about to announce changes to america's brand new cuba policy. >> scott mcgrew, most americans will still be able to travel to cuba, so what does this mean? >> well, the president is going to make the announcement, give us the details later today. the white house says the policy adjustments will make it more difficult for money to go to the cuban military. and the u.s. will add the new

people-to-people reason -- or take it away, rather, reason for visiting. but you should still be able to visit cuba. late last night nbc news announced that it confirmed the same news that "the washington post" announced earlier this week, the president is under investigation for obstruction of justice. and then just moments ago, the president confirmed it on twitter. in a startling new tweet, the president says i am being investigated for firing the fbi director by the man who told me to fire the fbi director! witch hunt. now, there is a lot to unpack here. first, the president of the united states has acknowledged he's under investigation. secondly, we assume he is talking about rod rosenstein. this is the first time we've seen rosenstein come into the president's crosshairs. and it's not impossible to think that rosenstein will now have to recuse himself, as he gets dragged into this. it's worth noting in an interview with lester holt, the

president specifically said he made the decision to fire comey before rosenstein wrote his letter recommending the firing. this is one of dozens and dozens of cases where you can counter the president's statements with the president's own statement. president trump has taken several shots at the team investigating, calling them bad people. that's kaucaused some backlash, even among republicans. robert mueller is a former fbi director who earned a bronze star in vietnam. amidst all this you've got the health care bill moving through the senate. few people have actually seen it. in fact even republican chuck grassley from iowa has complained he doesn't know what's in it. earlier this week, president trump called the house version mean. the same bill he celebrated in the rose garden. now, in almost every mention i made of the president just now, i countered what he said with what he said. some of you think that's good journalism and some of you think

shaded in orange will be under a heat advisory starting today at 11:00. it continues every day between now and monday. it may be extended. and it does not include the immediate coastline and in san francisco where our temperatures will be a little bit cooler. then for solano county, you're under an excessive heat watch, so that's where you really need to take it easy. one place where you will have some nice and mild weather, out enjoying the a's today. a lot of sunshine, we'll be in the mid-70s at first pitch and then in the 60s later on in the game, so still nice and comfortable. as you get ready for the day looking out the window, you see all of that sunshine and the hazy conditions. we'll have short sleeves and shorts weather as we go into the next several days unless you're going to the coast, you may need to put on a few more layers. if you're going golfing for this father's day weekend, hit the links early. it's going to start out in the low 70s this morning and then quickly rising into the upper 80s and low 90s this afternoon. and another cool place to go

innocent deadly london high-rise fire. within the last few hours, we've lenders 30 people are confirmed dead. firefighters still haven't been able to go fully through and do a search of the building. they say they cannot do it until the support structures are in place to shore up that damaged tower. some more breaking news internationally to tell you about this morning. the russian defense ministry says that it might have killed the top isis leader in an air strike. russian officials posted on facebook that an air strike on may 28th killed 30 field commanders and up to 300 militants during an isis conference. now, they are also saying that there are reports at this point, just reports, that ibrahim abu bakr al baghdadi, isis leader, was also killed. there have been multiple reports of baghdadi's death in the past, but those have all turned out to be false. a live look now at the santa rita jail where two of the men facing charges in the deadly ghost ship warehouse fire will leave there and go to court
