but for some data it's interesting because what happened there was a study done of legal marijuana purchases in colorado. that's the first state. 85% of the purchasers who did soly said cannabis, marijuana, was a major reason for visiting that state. on that score it would be interesting. it would be interesting to see if maybe california rethinks the advertising for bringing people here. look, a lot has changed. a lot hassed since the voters here first turned down the use of marijuana since 1972. >> yeah, that's a lot to think about. a lot has changed here regarding marijuana but not in washington, d.c. so looking at the federal government, isn't true that the growing and selling and consumption of marijuana if it's legal in california is still illegal federally. >> that's right.
7:51 am
>> how does that all work? >> you're right. it is still against -- here is a note, a note, everybody. it is still against federal law to grow, sell, or purchase cannabis. now on this issue the u.s. supreme court has found repeatedly the federal government has the last word. and we've seen arrests off and on over the years. but increasingly the federal government has moved away from prosecuting violators because of so many other important uses of federal law personnel. think terrorism, right, illegal immigration, money laundering, just to name a few from a very, very long list. so, yes, technically california is breaking the law, breaking the law if you buy, sell, and whatever, marijuana, much like other states that have legalized the drug. but given the nation's many problems things aren't like are to change so, meanwhile, the state of california and local governments are about to a new

nice surprise. it's going to be not a surprise if you were out will yesterday because the conditions will be very similar, 57 degrees to start off. and then we'll start warming up into the 60s. we start off cloudy and we see that sun kind of taking over by the afternoon, much like what we saw yesterday so it's going to be very comfortable weather but it might feel humid out there, sticky. i don't think you'll need a heavy jacket. if you have a light sweater, you will be shedding that later on in the afternoon. now overall your sunday day planner looking pleasant. 57 for the bay. 60 inland. by lunch hour about 60 degrees in the bay. 67 inland. partly cloudy skies. it will start clearing by about 2:00, 2:30, 3:00, and then start cooling off by 7:00 which is going to give way for more fog later tonight into early morning tomorrow as well. a high of about 64. we head into monday, the coast seeing similar conditions.
7:57 am
this gradual cooling will it continue through the middle of the week and then as we head towards thursday we'll see a gradual warming of those temperatures back into those mid-80s, upper 80s in some areas. we're still in a cooling trend but, yes, we will be expecting to warm up to the end of the week. i think we can enjoy a nice day. i'll make sure to post that pride forecast on my twitter and facebook. we might share them on tv. >> hopefully people will accepted them in and have fun at pride. sonoma raceway today nascar, dale earnhardt jr. will make his last appearance and retires at the end of the season. a lot to get out and do in the bay area. we hope you enjoy this cooler weather. thanks for making us a part of your morning. more local news tonight at 4:30, 6:00, and 11:00.
