it )s finally friday.. a live look oute hey there. it is finally friday. a live look out at the golden gate bridge this morning ahead of the holiday weekend. a lot of folks will be hitting the road or coming into town. right now some pretty clear streets. the skies a little different story. thanks so much for joining us. i'm kris sanchez in for laura garcia-cannon. >> i'm sam brock. a little haze in the air, in the skies. will that clear up as we had head into the weekend? >> not the whole bay area. we know that we've seen the clouds along the coast and in san francisco pretty much all weeklong. that does not change while the inland areas will be heating up. right now we all start out in the 50s as you get ready to head out the door and mostly cloudy skies. as we go into this afternoon, the tri-valley up to 89 degrees.

those winds kicking up, too. 68 degrees in san francisco and a hot 90 degrees for the north bay. i'll give you a closer look at temperatures and what you can expect coming up. mike is tracking crashes in san jose. >> two crashes in the south bay here, kari. green speed sensors all over the place. this just popped up. 680. i'll check on that. meanwhile right now i do know northbound 85 at blossom hill, the crash involving a vehicle with a lot of damage to it, not a lot of injuries. it's over on the right shoulder. that one still there on the roadway. this one, this this crash did clear northbound 280 but will may be flares out. they've been burning for about 20 minutes and should be just about out on that scene. no delays and we'll check in on the other crash over in fremont. back to you. thank you, mike. all new this morning about 30 minutes ago the anchors of msnbc's "morning joe" responding to president trump's twitter

rage against them. >> they were harsh about mika's appearance. >> i'm fine. my family brought me up really tough. this is nothing. for me personally, i am very concerned as to what this reveals about the president of the united states. it's strange. >> i think so. we had so many people call and text and e-mail. we're okay. the country is not. they were supposed to be on vacation but came back. the president saying low iq, crazy mika along with crazy joe came to mar-a-lago and said she was bleeding badly from a face-lift. condemnation from both sides of the aisle, many saying this is beneath the dignity of the office of the president of the united states. all right. enjoy yourself but be safe.

we are heading now into the fourth of july weekend, which means police and firefighters are stepping up efforts against illegal fireworks. pete suratos is live in dublin, one of the few bay area cities that will allow you safe and sane fireworks. pete? >> reporter: yeah, good morning to you, chris and sam. fourth of july right around the corner, it's important to be safe and to purchase legal fireworks that are often referred to as safe and sane, the stand that you see behind me here in dublin. what does it mean by safe and sane? we're talking sparklers, smoke balls, any fireworks that don't have any aerial effects so firecrackers and roman crackers would not be safe and sane. four des ignated parks between the hours of 10:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m. and when using the fireworks you want to make sure you're away from dry vegetation to prevent fires and it doesn't hurt to have a water source

nearby for emergencies. >> we have fireworks kids can participate in without having to light themselves. i feel comfortable selling them. they're all approved by the fire marshal. >> reporter: it includes union city, newark, fremont, hayward, pacifica and san bruno. there's a zero tolerance policy for illegal fireworks in dublin and those that get caught using illegal fireworks could face severe consequences including jail time. we're live in dublin, pete suratos for "today in the bay." >> thank you, pete. appreciate that report. san jose neighborhood breathing a sigh of relief after flame from a brush fire came dangerously close to homes. this morning people still don't know what caused that fire that created so much panic. it happened yesterday evening near 680. you see the flames there coming

up quickly from the creek and even before firefighters got there neighbors reacted quickly. >> so we all just got our hoses and whoever wasn't home, we started watering everywhere we can. it was scary. >> nearby the wildlife center started evacuating animals being treated there. they're all safe this morning. no injuries or damage reported. they monitored hot spots. this morning firefighters still have not determined the cause. they're concerned because all three fires started at the same time. they are asking for killers of a father. a man was shot and killed in front of his home on wilson road.

he was struck by several bullets. his two children were inside the home at the time. they were not hurt. the woman who police say intentionally ran over her friend with her car killing her is expected in court. she will be arraigned in san jose today. police say that she struck and killed her friend tuesday morning near lee avenue. officers found the victim there on site. she later died at the hospital. neighbors are shocked about what happened. >> it's tragic. >> police say that she fled the scene but they found her only 24 hours later because she had been contacting hospitals looking for her friend. san jose police are

good morning. i'm landon dowdy live. had here are today's top business head loins. wall street will will try to rebound from yesterday's losses which were sparked. the dow having their worst day in more than a month although the markets did close off the lows of the session. data on incoming spending, manufacturing, and consumer sentiment 21,287, the nasdaq dropping 90 to 6144. air bnb is going upscale with plans to rent out mansions and penthouses later this year. reports say the short-term rental certificaservice called will start testing in december as states will need to pass

a live look outside this morning. this is from fremont and very patriotic feeling in the air here as we are getting ready for the fourth of july holiday. you can see the flag doing just a little bit of flapping in the corner of your screen. welcome to friday. glad that you're with us. >> fremont friday. >> it's finally friday. we are free on this friday. take your pick. >> i like it. are will we be fog free on tuesday is really the question. >> well, of course. not only will we have that but we'll also have the potential of really dry conditions inland. so we advise as we head into the fourth of july weekend, do not light any fireworks. here is a live look outside. in san francisco it's not going anywhere as we head into the afternoon. over the next several days it doesn't look like it clears. as you look at the seven-day

forecast bottom of the screen, you'll see our temperatures will be going up a couple degrees and then back down. not a bad forecast at all. as you get ready to head out the door, we have temperatures in the mid to upper 50s, going into this afternoon expect a high of 87 degrees in morgan hill. 78 degrees in milpitas and for the east bay we are going to see the highs in spots like concord up to 90 degrees. oakland up to 72. still wide range in temperature, half moon bay, 64. belmont, 72 degrees. san francisco we'll see some low 60s around the outer sunset and some upper 60s in the mission district. 88 degrees today in sonoma and santa rosa 90 degrees. our temperatures are starting to heat up for some of the inland areas. as you are getting ready for the day, we start out in the closet and it's a good day to make sure you grab the sunglasses once again and for the shorts you'll need that as our temperature will be heating up today and tomorrow as well. let's go through the day in oakland as we start out with some clouds. we'll be at 58 degrees. noontime it's going to be

another nice one so make plans to head outside for lunch and get some fresh air and some sunshine. it'll be in the low 70s for the afternoon. and if you're making plans to go golfing today, the tri-valley a good place to be but it will start to heat up as we go into this afternoon. morning hours will be the best. at 11:00 we're at 74 degrees so it is going to be nice. and we will be watching for the potential of a high fire danger for the weekend as our temperature will be heating up for the interior valleys and some of the south bay and east bay hills. and we're also going to have that low humidity to go along with it. as we had head into tomorrow as well during the afternoon those will be the driest times of the day and looking at our temperatures in san francisco we'll keep the clouds and the fog for pretty much the next several days. we will get those a little bit more clearing for tomorrow and a high temperature up to 70 degrees and for the valleys we'll see upper 80s to low 90s. and dipping down in time for the fourth of july.

and mike has an update from milpitas. >> we saw an incident that popped up on the system over here, just off here off calaveras heading north. i found the location chp claims it's around the mini golf course in jackman. northbound reports of some gravel debris and dirt in the roadway. that will be an issue but no lanes are officially closed or blocked there. we see a little slowing coming up into the area. i'm wondering if they're doing a sweeper truck if it got there over there. we'll check on chp and let you know if there's anything going on there because that is slowing that did pop up. we'll look at waze. no slowing down to the bay bridge toll plaza. you might be getting out of town. if you're coming from the hayward area to sacramento, they've mapped out three clear routes. two very distinct ones. i-5 or i-80 and they're about the same time for most of the routes. you map that out wherever you

go. take your phone and that waze app and join our team so we can help each other, share information you might find along the way, clicking on your profile, your team, nbc bay area wazers that will will help you wherever you're going. back to you. >> thank you very much, mike. let's head out to the golden gate bridge and a reminder that bus and ferry fares are going up tomorrow by nearly 50 cents each way. tolls are going up by 25 cents but that doesn't happen until monday so you have a little bit of time. $6.75, $7.75 for folks who don't have fast track. car-pools pay $4.75. those increases are to help the district cover $51 million deficit over the next five years which means that more toll hikes are likely coming down the road. governor jerry brown's massive delta tunnel project slapped with two lawsuits just days after getting an all clear from u.s. wildlife officials. that approval came on monday. the lawsuits, though, are coming in from environmental and

fishing groups who say the two tunnels will endanger fish. governor brown wants to build those tunnels to transfer water from northern california to sevcentral and southern califor. to capitol hill where it's been a very busy day for congress ahead of the fourth of july holiday. yesterday the house passed two immigration bills backed strongly by president trump. the first you might be familiar with, kate's law, name after the san francisco woman authorities say was shot and killed by an undocumented immigrant along the embarcadero in 2015. that suspect had been deported five times. kate's law would enforce longer prison sentences. the no sanctuary for criminals act which would pressure cities like san francisco and counties like santa clara to cooperate with federal immigration enforcement or risk losing federal funding. both bills now head to the senate where they are likely to face tougher opposition. happening today planned parenthood will will close three

of its bay area clinics. the locations here are richmond, pittsburgh, and vacaville. administrators cite money struggles for what they say are forced closures specifically because of low reimbursements rates from the state and federal government. administrators also fear they could lose key federal funding it particularly if the affordable care act is repealed. birth rates in the u.s. dropped actually to a record low last year. according to new government data more than 3.9 million births in 2016 down 1% from 2015. there there were drops in teen births, c-section deliveries. preterm births increased for the second year in a row as did the percentage of babies born under 6 pounds. it technology that could save lives. researchers in sweden testing out delivering a defibrillator by drone. the idea is to quickly deliver

welcome back. it is 4:55 right now on your friday. a new report shows that the banned nerve agent sarin was used in april in an attack that killed dozens of people. now that report was circulated to members of the organization for the prohibition of chemical weapons or opcw but it was never made public. reuters, though, eventually got hold of the findings. the attack on april 4th was the deadliest in syria's civil war in more than three years. now a joint united nations and opcw investigation will look at that incident to determine who is to blame. >> the u.s. has already had sanctions on 300 people as a result of this. people who dropped chemical weapons on innocent people should be held to account. western intelligence age

agencies are also blaming the government of bashar al assad for the april chemical attack. syrian officials have repeatedly denied using banned toxins in the conflict. the uc system has a new sexual harassment policy and it comes after more than a year of lawsuits, investigations, and protests. while the complaints originated on cal's campus, other campuses have reported issues along with allegations of insufficient action from administrators. the uc system is now going to investigate within 60 business days and any discipline will follow within 40 days after that. victims will have the opportunity to respond to investigation findings and accused faculty members will receive a peer review. there is a new number one when it comes it to the hottest housing market in the country. it is in the bay area but it might not be -- it is the vallejo-fairfield market. according to the hottest index where homes are selling the fastest. in vallejo-fairfield homes are

the forecast is. >> right. some people have a four-day weekend so it's going to be a really nice one. you'll want to make sure you check the weather wherever you're going because it will be drastically different across the bay area. we are looking now at cloudy skies, pretty uniform no matter with where you are, 57 degrees in the peninsula and 56 degrees in the east bay. 52 in the north bay. some patchy fog here and there. today's high temperatures up to 90 in santa rosa and concord. san jose 81. in the mid-60s for the coast and upper 60s for san francisco. coming up a look at some more of those temperatures and what you can expect. mike, reports of a car fire? >> any fire a concern right now very dry. we'll look at most of your bay and a smooth, easy drive anywhere south of the bay bridge. we're going to move you considerably farther north at the benicia bridges. it's there in vacaville. leisure town road is where the car fire is
