happened. >> we've had calls in all morning trying to get more information. alum rock avenue was closed off for several hours overnight right at white road near james lick high school. it's reopened. there were other roads, too, in the area blocked off. you see police going door-to-door at one point knocking on folks' homes. a number of police vehicles were spotted in addition to an ambulance. san say police still have not said what they were responding to or why medical help was needed on scene. again, we do have calls in this morning. we'll bring you an update as soon as we learn more. congress left without a deal on health but that's not what washington is talking about this morning. >> a lot of folks talking about what president trump tweeted yesterday. as a video showing him in a wwe-style takedown with cnn. >> tracie potts is live tracking all the fallout this morning. good morning to you, tracie. >> reporter: hi there.

applies for the rural, unincorporated areas. these are areas that are less developed and more susceptible to wild land fires. instead cal fire is asking people to chip and shred their debris instead of burning it. this is not, by the way, applied to campfires as long as you're on private property. this winter storms did get california out of the drought but the rains caused a lot of the grass to grow and with the recent hot weather those grasses have become very dry, brown, and flammable. you might be surprised cal fire has already responded to over 2,100 wildfires statewide. another reminder that if you do live in a rural area, maintain that 100 feet of defensible space around your property. reporting live here in dublin, bob redell, "today in the bay." >> some great information. bob, appreciate that. developing news in the east bay, and a man is behind bars this morning in connection with the deadly hit-and-run.

two young boys were killed in a crash and their mom and a 3-month-old baby are still recovering. more from conrd cord. >> reporter: rest in peace, sweet angels. honoring 5-year-old vincent and 10-year-old lorenzo pictured on a go fund me page started by friends of the family. the two children were killed in a violent crash friday in concord. california highway patrol officers have arrested lemuel wilson jr. investigators believe he was driving this silver infinity suv. it careened off highway 4 on to the solano off ramp and slammed into the dodge durango. >> catastrophic damage and, unfortunately, a 5-year-old boy and a 10-year-old boy were both ejected from the durango. >> reporter: according to the go fund me page the two young boys, their mother and a 3-month-old infant just finished watching a movie at the nearby drive-in theater. wilson fled the scene friday night. he wept to highland hospital in

oakland the next day to seek medical treatment and to turn himself in to sheriff's deputies. he's now facing two counts of vehicular manslaughter, h hit-and-run, and driving with a suspended or revoked license. >> the mother of the two young children was taken to john muir hospital. her 3-month-old child was taken to oakland children's hospital and is in critical condition. it's 6:07. if you are heading across the golden gate bridge starting today it will cost you just a little more to make that trek. >> i think you said a tiny bit. >> a journalistic. >> how much is teensie? good morning, pete. >> reporter: good morning to you, sam and kira. a teensie increase, about 25 cents. starting this morning if you're traveling across the golden gate bridge that will increase by 25

cents this is a cashless bridge so if you have fastrak it will increase to $6.75. if you don't, the pay by plate option where the bridge cameras will scan your plate $7.75. now this is part of a five-year plan to pay off the budget deficit which was projected a few years ago at $142 million. this is the third consecutive increase here at the golden gate bridge and they're expecting another hike in 2018. live in san francisco, pete suratos for "today in the bay." it's 6:08. the south bay, let's take a look at today's day planner as we start out in the low 60s at 8:00, lunch time, we are warming up to 79 degrees, low 80s today. and it does stay all nice and clear. if you plan to head over to santa cruz we will see some temperatures early afternoon in the mid-60s, and that's where we hold steady throughout the day and mostly sunny skies.

we're coming up on? 13 with a lot of sunshine as we take a live look outside over san jose. we'll see that sun throughout the day warming temperatures up going nearby to santa clara. 11:00 in the morning we'll be at 71 degrees. a beautiful start to the day. highs in the upper 70s there and we'll be just a little bit cooler than average for this time of year. we are in for warmer weather. >> and our crews are on scene westbound 80 at el portal drive. did let our crews know chp is hoping to open at least some of the lanes in about at the point minutes. as of right now heavy backups in that area and they are looking to clear some lanes. over to you. happening today a man accused in the deadly shooting of an east bay mother is set to be sentenced. the 30 ye-year-old mother of th chyemil pierce was shot and killed while protecting her children in a gun battle. it happened in oakland in march

of 2015. jerry harbin pled no contest and could be sentenced up to 13 years in prison. three other people were convicted second-degree murder but will be sentenced rattly. just a devastating development in the search for a missing 5-year-old boy last seen with his father dressian jr. in santa barbara county. he was arrested last week. the father has denied harming his son. investigators been searching since his father was found passed out in a large park in april. prosecutors allege he killed the boy to get back at his estranged wife whom he was sharing custody with as they went through a divorce. the 49ers organization is mourning the loss of a former punter who helped the team win a super bowl following the 1984

season. max runager was reportedly found dead in his car back on friday. this happened in a park iing lo in south carolina. police say they do not suspect foul play. he played 11 seasons in the nfl and spent his first five years with the eagles before joining san francisco in 1984. the niners went 15-1 in his first season and beat miami to win the super bowl. runager was just 61 years old. ford says that it's making, quote, great progress towards the goal of mutting its first fully self-driving cars on the road by 2021. ford gave reporters rides in the company's self-driving fusion test car this week. and ford is relying on argo-ai. >> well, staying on that tip from ford tesla, scott mcgrew says to watch shares of tesla. >>, that company rolling out its model three later this month and

musk says the first model three will roll off the line at the plant off 880 this friday. the first brand-new cars will be delivered, musk, to customers by the end of the month which is exactly when he said he would deliver them back in february. end of july. the model three has been delayed a few times but it sounds like they will hit this delivery date which would be a first for tesla hitting any deadline whatsoever. back in february i said they would never make their ship date. take a listen. when musk says it's going to happen on this time, and i'm being very serious, it never, ever, ever happens at that time. he misses it every single time. we can reasonably say it's not july. so who was entirely, completely wro wrong? possibly me. it's not the end of july just yet but it's look iing pretty gm for me. i will check back with you end of july to find out just how

into the mid-80s today and up to 85 degrees in livermore, concord 86 degrees. oakland, 70 today san francisco 65 degrees. and fireworks happening at the coliseum this evening after the a's game. so at first pitch 68 degrees and some nice weather throughout the end of the rin county fair later on today after we see the sun setting we'll see those temperatures in the mid-60s there and also at great america fireworks at 9:45 and there the temperatures will be a little bit warmer in the mid-60s after a day with highs in the upper 80s. now we're going to see the temperatures holding steady for tomorrow and then time for the fireworks. we'll be in the mid-70s in san jose. lower 80s for livermore and the coast will see some clouds and fog. the marine layer is not going anywhere, and it's also keeping those temperatures nice and cool. we'll see that throughout the week. the valleys will see temperatures in the mid-80s for

today and tomorrow. lower 80s midweek and then it starts to get hot heading into the weekend. i'll have more on that. vianey, you're still tracking what's happening out there and also where drivers are slowing down. >> we're definitely start iing see some slowing in some spots. more along the south bay. i have an update on the deadly crash since the 4:30 hour. that sig alert has been canceled and all lanes are open. they are start iing to let the traffic through and we're still seeing pretty heavy delays and our crew is on scene. chp did confirm it was a single fatality. a very unfortunate situation. they are definitely starting to clear out the lanes in the area. we're seeing some heavy delays westbound 80 to the bay bridge. about a 41-minute delay. northbound 880 about 13 minutes. so we'll hopefully start to see that pick up. no metering lights on just yet. back to you. vianey, thanks. 6:20 right now coming up on

welcome back. 6:24. there are roads closed and evacuations under way after a fast moving wildfire. the so-called spring fire is burning forcing many families. right you now only 10% containment. the biggest obstacle they face. so far no reports of any damage. >> 31 people are injured and nearly 20 unaccounted for after a tour bus burst into flames. german media showed this footage of the bus which was burned down

to a skull. it crashed into the truck in a traffic jam. no word on what happened to the truck driver. investigators are looking for answers after shots were fired. more than two dozen people were shot. the rapper was arrested on an n unrelated charge. shoo shooting could be gang related. >> david desper is charged with first-degree murder. the killing happened back on wednesday. desper is accused of shooting and killing bianca roberson who recently graduated from high school. they say desper was set.

we have gray skies all over some of our other cameras good morning. that's what we're seeing now over san francisco and looking live at the golden gate bridge somewhere hid nen had there and this is what we'll see throughout much of the day as we've seen the thick marine layer keeping those temperatures down and fog near the coast. so it doesn't like it goes anywhere and then as we go into the next several days our high temperatures reaching into the mid-60s, low 70s for the weekend while the inland areas will be up to 85 degrees today. a little bit cooler heading into tomorrow and wednesday. and then it heats up in time for the weekend so we'll talk more about that weekend forecast coming up in seven minutes. vianey's tracking what's happening as you head out on the roadways. >> yeah, and we continue with that breaking news with that crash i've been mentioning along westbound 80 in san pablo and this is video our crews shot just a little bit ago and it looks like they have finally started to reopen some lanes in that area. unfortunately, it was a deadly crash, one fatality involving five vehicles. it appears to have happened just

after 4:00. a sig alert was issued at about 4:22 and it is just now being canceled and we're hoping that traffic does start to recover within the next 20 minutes or so but right now we're still seeing major delays out of the area. a very unfortunate situation out there and as of right we aren't seeing any major slowing in any other parts of the bay area. slowing in the south bay. as i mentioned our traffic speed sensors still picking up heavy delays out of westbound 80 at el portal drive and this is where they're diverting the traffic off of that traffic collision and i know that there are still crews out there investigating the scene. so we're hoping this traffic continues to recover within the next half hour or so. i'll send things back to you. >> vianey, thanks. new overnight a major street is now reopened in san jose following a massive police presence overnight. >> this was on alum rock avenue which was closed down for several hours overnight at white road right by james lick high

it is back open thanks to a hiking trail. the new pass leads from the collapsed bridge to restaurants including the big sur house. it's a half-mile walk. highway 1 is still closed in the area because of damage from a fire last summer and this winter's mud slides. it's 6:38. traffic backups it continue for the east bay. chp now is reporting another traffic collision near that area right near westbound 80 just a little bit behind and a little bit ahead still seeing the backup from the earlier crash. there are three lanes blocked near that same area that involves a big rig and a motorcycle. there are three lanes blocked in the area. that sig alert was canceled earlier due to the crash and el portal drive.

a weekend tweet from the president is just the incident that has some calling into question whether he is fit to lead. >> scott mcgrew, that would be the wrestling video that has to be one of the strangest tweets we've seen to date. >> right, sam. and this came after msnbc which was one of the strangest tweets to date. the video shows trump from back when he was a businessman taking part in a fake wrestling match so that really is trump. the other character has the cnn logo superimposed over his head. earlier this morning president trump tweeted at some point the fake news will be forced to discuss our great jobs numbers, strong economy, success with isis, the border, and so much else. he is right about the economy and defeating isis. those things are going really well. and the jobs numbers are excellent. though trump has a funny relationship with jobs numbers. he likes them now. but when president obama brought the jobs numbers down so low to

where they are mr. trump was fairly doubtful. let me show you. september of 2012 mr. trump said the jobs numbers were phony. the labor reports are a complete fraud, he said. that was as recently as last spring. the numbers are made up to make politicians look good. seven months ago he said the jobs numbers are complete fiction. as for why we don't talk about the economy or the jobless rate or how well we're doing against isis it's because the president keeps taking his eye off the ball and our job is to report what the president is doing and what he's doing is posting from the internet. president trump spent time negotiating a rift, a rift the president endorsed on earlier. the president will head to the g-20 this week where he's expected to meet with vladimir putin. he leaves for europe on

you can see the clouds and fog. we are looking at our south bay temperatures. now we'll reach up to 84 degrees in morgan hill. hayward will be at 73 and oakland for the high temperature today. not a lot of sunshine. san francisco still in with this very thick marine layer and the clouds and the fog. high temperatures up to 65. 83 in sonoma. looking out the window and standing in the closet. then some short sleeves and some shorts later on with our temperatures making it into the 80s. you will need a jacket if you're going out to the coliseum.

first pitch at 68 degrees. a lot of sunshine but then as the sun sets it will be turning much cooler into the low 60s with some breezy winds. and at the pa rin county fair enjoy some fireworks later tonight and throughout the day as you're enjoying your time out at the fair. a wide range in temperatures. and in san jose, rather in santa clara at great america we will see those temperature dropping back into the mid-60s in time for the fireworks. you can enjoy some fireworks shows and we're going to keep those temperatures in san francisco in the mid-60s. then it does cool off wednesday. hitting the low 90s. it's about to heat up. heating up on the roadways? it is for the east bay right now.
