the roadways. >> still fairly quiet but we're starting to see say few trouble spots and right now 1 along northbound 101 and 280 but take a live look at the bay bridge we can definitely see it looks like the possibly the metering lights might be on at this early hour but i haven't got confirmation of that i just see a little bit of slowing along the bay bridge. so that's your commute. back to you. there it. >> there it is. thank you. we get to breaking news right now this morning. fire crews are on scene of a house fire that caught fire in fremont. this is a look at some video from overnight and we are just getting into -- sorry, this is a live picture, actually, of what's going on right now. you see a very active fire presence there at the intersection of roberts and washington. that fire started about 4:00 this morning. it was brought under control within a half an hour of crews arriving on scene. no word on how the fire started but we do have a crew on scene

talking to fire officials trying to get you more information. we'll bring that to you. we're shedding new light on the horrific crash in the east bay that took the lives of two young boys. a hit-and-run suspect is now facing two counts of murder in connection to that accident. >> this was a grieving mother demands justice for her sons. today in the bay we're live in concord and what's next this case? pete, good morning. >> reporter: good morning to you sam and laura and it was an emotional reaction from that mother as would you expect. but we're standing here on highway 4 right here at the off ramp where that accident took place. and we know the suspect veered off the off-ramp on friday night hitting the car on the adjacent on-ramp resulting in the death of two boys as well as major injuries to their mother and 3-month-old sibling. they face vehicular manslaughter charges but now faces murder charges. we learned that he has a sketchy past area just days before the

past he was arrest ford making threats against nordstrom employees at stoneridge mall. and the search of this car they found devices used to make counterfeit credit cards. the mother spoke outside of children's hospital in oakland where her 3-month-old is still recovering from the injuries. >> if you're a multiple offender on a dui charge, you should be sitting in jail regardless of what it is. >> reporter: the legal experts tell nbc bay area that the charges may have been increased due to his prior criminal history. there's a chance wilson could be appearing in court as soon as today. we'll keep an eye on those developments. his bail was currently set at $2 million. we're live in concord. >> thank you very much for latest there, pete. 5:02 we have breaking news this morning, new video and pictures in just in after a 5.8 earthquake struck montana. reportedly felt as far away as

seattle, washington. it just 60 miles west of the helena, the state capital and registered a 5.8 on the richter scale. no reports of injury so far but some homeowners briefly lost power and the national weather service in great falls tweeted about a gas leak in helena. president trump's second foreign trip is underway this morning. this is some video from just moments ago when he was speaking to a large crowd -- excuse me, it is live images from warsaw right now right after he spoke. all eyes are watching to see how he handles two different situations right now, tensions in north korea, and his face-to-face meeting with russian president vladimir putin. we're live in washington with what the president is already saying this morning. morning, tracey. >> reporter: hey there, sam, good morning. to the polish people he went long on tradition and history and shared history with america, but he also addressed what he called threats to both poland

the police commission now limiting cooperation between officers and immigration authorities. that's part of a policy adopted by the commission last night. it prohibits the use of city resources to enforce immigration laws, but officers will work with immigration officials on criminal cases. here's police chief bill scott. >> our policy is clear, if it involves into an immigration type enforcement our policy is clear we stop it right there. >> if they start to get involved in these joint task force operation, they could knowingly or unknowingly be involved in picking up people and carrying out deportations and doing federal government's job. >> that's a member from the asian law caucus who was a critic of working with immigration and customs enforcement or ice. happening today, online buyers get an extra bit of security in san mateo county. today the county sheriff and supervisor are opening a safe exchange zone in red wood city. the goal of that area is to give

online buyers and sellers a safe place to meet. and the safe zone is outside of the maple street jail with the police station right across the street. newark police are searching for a man this morning. he's a suspect in a violent armed robbery at a gas station on tuesday. right now police aren't saying where that robbery happened. suspect reportedly beat the victim taking off in his maroon dodge cara van. a federal judge in vallejo announced the lawsuit can move forward. attorney for denise huskins and her boyfriend aaron quinn filed a defamation lawsuit against them claiming their conduct was extreme and outrageous. the lawsuit stems from the case in 2015 when huskins was kidnapped. va lay moe hoe police initially said it was a hoax. it was later determined not to be and the kidnapper is now serve a 40-year prison sentence for the kidnapping. a new bill right now moving through the state legislature promises to lower your cell

phone bill and also increase wireless access. her cuery news reporting that this bill would take powers away from cities and allow telecom companies to install antennas on street lamps. the mayors all oppose the bill but the state senate has already approved it and the assembly votes on that measure next week. multi-million dollar makeover on the way for san francisco parks. the mayor and several officials are announcing $6.5 million in state funding for renovation and improvements to parks in the city. that's going to happen at the geneva car barn and powerhouse at 2:00. now a nice clear sunrise at 5:0 eight as we look outside in san rafael and low visibility in some spots but not here. as you get ready to head out there on the roadways, we're going to take a live look now from haze valley you can see it's definitely cloudy and fog

gig. the marine layer has been squashed down to 100 feet so all of the high humidity right there at the surface. and as we look at more micro climates today and our high temperatures this afternoon, the tri-valley up to 96 degrees with some sunshine today and in the middle of the screen we are look at france, 66 for the high and a hot 91 for the north bay. i'll have a look at some more temperatures and the day planner as you head out but right now we head over for traffic. >> we're starting to see a lot more cars out on the roads but right now we are tracking what may turn into a little trouble spot. they're report a crash right at san bernardino avenue and it looks like it may be just a fender bender but if we start to see a little more traffic coming in which we already are starting to see some build up out there that could cause some slowing. taking a lye look outside at san jose we see the amount of cars already out on the road but at least it's not stop and go traffic at this early hour. back to you. coming up next, caught on

how hot it's going to be this afternoon, well above average. i'll have a look at what you can expect in the microclimate forecast at 5:18. a quick check of your peninsula drive time, southbound 101 towards sfo about 12 minutes. southbound 101 from sfo to highway 92, about 5 minutes. and southbound 101 ton hype way 92 to bauers avenue about 19 minutes. new video to show thank you morning it's 5:13, the moment and explosion rocked a college dorm in kentucky. it happened last week at murray state university. the force of the explosion was set to be so strong moved the camera. investigators believe natural gas was spontaneously combusted. two people were injured but expected to be okay. we're learning new details about the airlines crash at sfo through new footage never seen before. video shows the moment of impact nearly four years to the day after the deadly crash.

the footage shared by the aviation blog flight.org shows the plan just slamming into the ground. the plane catches fire and then the evacuation slides indplat allows passengers to escape that burning aircraft. >> mike massachusetts mccarron spoke with us via skype. he tells us the evacuation was about 30 seconds toob late and he blames the pilots for that. >> as soon as it as it came to a stop those doors should have been popping open, the chutes should have been inflating and people should have been getting off the aircraft. >> the video is from an airport tower camera and was leaked online. he says that because tragic airplane accidents sore uncommon this video should be learned as a powerful learning tool. united airlines apologizing this morning after kicking a toddler out of his seat forcing him to sit on his mother's lan lap.

she bought a separate ticket for her 2-year-old son as required by the airline but once on board the toddler's seat was given to a stand bypass jer and she was forced to hold her son in her lap for 3.5 hours. united was saying the whole thing is a mix-up and has refunded the toddler's seat. new this morning a rare snapshot of wildlife in northern california. a gray wolf park was spotted atlasen national forest never redding. >> california's gray wolves were declared extingt and this is the second pack of wolves and biologists are keeping an eye on them. to this little chihuahua named courage. she has a story to tell this morning about that little broken leg of his. dog was at a seattle lookout when he fell down a clip cliff and lapped on aej. animal control refused to come out and help so the owner called an indoor rock climbing

business. one of the climbers responded quickly, lowered himself down the cliff and rude little courage there. >> i'm sure he's loved getting nursed back to health. >> i'm sure he's loved. it will really start to heat up today, that will be the main story, unless you're along the coastline or in san francisco, that's where it will stay nice and cool. we also keep the clouds and the fog this morning. let's get a look at what you're going to see as you step out the door and driving across the golden gate bridge, i know it's hard to see right now, you can even see the drizzle kind of drifting across the lights there. we do have a nice little breeze there this morning, and that keeps temperature cool as we go through the day. but then look at how our temperatures for the inland areas really start to get hot. in concord today up to 98 degrees, livermore and morgan hill 96 degrees, 91 in napa and oakland will see a high of 75 degrees while palo alto will be up to 85.

and as you get a look at that seven-day forecast at the bottom of the jean f of the screen were restart out at 58 degrees at 8:00 and the sun peeks out at noon and we will get some clearing and the clouds roll right back in. you go to the hikic trails in north bay, start out early. look how hot it's going to be in the north bay up to 92 degrees at 2:00 this afternoon and it will still be hot throughout the afternoon. the cooldown will be slow to happen. we're picking another hot spot in the tri-valley looking at the forecast we're hitting the lifrpgsz if you are going golfing today. once again another activity you'll want to get down before noon because br those temperatures get uncomfortable will be up to 95 degrees by this afternoon. but one nice spot as we get a look at the sunrise over the sierra, looking at the forecast for kirkwood will be in the

upper 70s for the next seven days and then hitting the 80s. while we have hot temperatures it will be getting warm there as well. we are going to see the temperatures staying in the upper 60s in san francisco, no changes over the next several days and then look at all those 90s in the forecast from now until monday. we're going to be mihitting the low 90s inland. no major incidents this hour. we've had a couple of fender benders and then our map has started to pick up a little bit of slowing where you see the yellow and red it means there is typical early morning slowing. north bound 101 towards highway 87 about 12 minutes. northbound 87 from highway 85 to 101 about 11 minutes. and northbound 17 from highway 85 to highway 101 about eight minutes. taking it over to the east bay this is where we start seeing some slowing that the hour. as i mentioned, no major incidents just yet.

southbound 680 to vargas road about ten minutes, northbound 238 to the 580 to ate eight about two minutes and from 238 to highway 84 about ten minutes. if we look at your bridge drive times also looking pretty smooth out there. westbound 580 towards richmond bridge about seven minutes and 80 boy bridge about nine minutes and toward the san mateo about 2012 minutes. if we take a look at palo alto we can see it's definitely almost friday because we're still seeing people head to work. back to you. almost friday still better than monday. coming up next, hobby lobby in hot water right now. the reason the arts and crafts chain is being forced to pay out $3 million.

spill way. they will start installing the first slaps of concrete this weekend. spill way repairs are costing 200 feft $5 million to take up to two years to complete. california's attorney general is throwing his support behind a crack down on robocalls. 29 other state attorneys support proposed legislation that would let phone companies block calls from fake numbers. in a statement the robocalls are not just a noose san they're illegality. the fcc says more than 10 million people were scanned about $54 million from fake irs calls. business and tech news this morning, new crash tests are revealing how safe tesla model 3 is. we turn right over to morgan brennan who joins us live. good morning.

not clear what kind of relief they are seeking. in february, thousands of people had to evacuate their homes as the andersonson reservoir became som filled with the heavy rains it caused the coyote creek to overrun u run its banks. the district which manages the creek and reservoir accuse them of failing to heed their warngds evacuate residents in a timely manner. mayor of san jose says the city's late response was late but has said that his staff was relying on flood data from the water district which they say was wrong. reporting live out side city hall bob redell today in the bay. thank you so much. happening today a possible fare hike for caltrain is going to be discussed eight board of directors meeting. that meeting is going to be this morning in san carlos. the board of directors have held several other public discussions so far trying to get some feedback on this plan. the plan would increase basic

fares, monthly passes and parking. the board's expected to make an official decision next month. san francisco's bus fleet is growing without the parking space to old it. sf examiner reports this morning muni is running out of space for buses. the transit agency wants to build new vehicle yards where they also repair vehicles. the sfmta projects that buy 2025 it will need -- it projects it will need fist 5 spots for that new fleet moo. the price tag $1.6 billion. saying this san francisco right now and the city spent nearly $120 million to keep people out of jail. now mayor lee is looking to spend more. the examiner reporting this morning that mayor you thely is asking for an additional $27 million in his proposed budget. the goal is to address racial disparities found in jail. recent date shows people spending the most days in san francisco jail are

disproportionately young and black. the board of supervisor is expected to approve the budget next week. new details on the morgan hill gym owner and personal trainer charged with sexually assaulting his client. they say he is head towed state prison. will smith pled guilty last month to assaulting 13 victims, two of them minors. will smith owned and operated the gym wolf pack in morgan hill. he'll spend seven years in state prison and have to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life. 5:34 right now and this morning many in east oakland are asking if police are doing enough to stop illegal fireworks. that, after this incredible video from nbc sky ranger that captured fireworks dotting the oakland skyline put see it right here in east oakland during the fourth of july. we spoke to one man who did not want to reveal his face but he says about 500 people were on the streets in just his neighborhood lighting illegal fireworks and performing side shows. he says he called 911 but that that did not make a difference.

slowing in the south bay and also the tri-valley. east bay seeing some slowing but we've only seen a few minor fender benders and the south bay drive times northbound 101 to highway 85 to 8714 minutes. 87 about ten minutes. northbound 17 about eight minutes towards 101. we're also seeing little bit of slowing but more slowing along the bay bridge. we are seeing those metering lights on westbound 80 towards bay bridge nine minutes. westbound 82 towards the san mateo bridge about 12 minutes. and a live look at that bay bridge toll plazer you can tell that the metering lights are definitely back on at this hour. >> and the people are out. we're back to work. speaking of which we're talking about the fact that lots of people take in more vacations this year, summer's here, good spots to go in the bay area. it's going to be 97 degrees in napa. >> it's going to be hot and if

you're planning to head out around the bay area it will be all about location and the kind of weather you'll fool. looking at the inland forecast for saturday into the low 90s, the bay will be very warm, 82 degrees and we'll still have the fog along the coast and 65 degrees. on sunday expect it to reach into the upper 60s and it will be hot again for the valleys on sunday. and that continues into next week. you may start out your weekend tomorrow with people in the plaza if you're heading outside of the office at lunchtime you may see a band set up at the nearby plaza all around san francisco. and the temperatures in the low 60s, reaching into the mid-60s but you won't have that much time during your lunch break but you'll want to enjoin the cooler weather. on saturday we have the low-rider contest that will be kind of spanning all around the city. you may see those cars driving around, cool looking cars with some cloudy skies throughout the morning and then some sunshine right about lunchtime. and for the alameda county fair, the last day on sunday and it is going to be a hot one, reaching

into the low 90s in pleasanton on sunday we start out at 11:00 with those temperatures already in the upper 80s, low 90s throughout the day. so make sure you stay hydrated. and russian river valley is going to be hot there too. we talked about sipping wine in napa, russian river valley will be up to 97 degrees on friday and some low 90s for sunday as well. and even heading farther to the north, shasta lake is going to be up to 99 degrees on saturday. make sure you're prepared for some high heat, maybe take a dip in the lake. as we look at napa's forecast for tomorrow it's gone up to 98 degrees saturday, 90 degrees and then on sunday 94 degrees. and for some cooler temperatures, little bit cooler, you can head to carmel valley, it will be 85 on friday. we normally don't get temperatures that hot there but it's going to cool down to 79 degrees on sunday. i'll bring you back home and have a look at the temperature trend for cooper teen ocoming up on the other side the break.

in the mid-60s, rising throughout the day into the low 80s above our average high temperature for this afternoon. coming up in five minutes i'll have a look at some hot temperatures inland. that's coming up. and we are starting to see some slowing in san jose and it be looks like it may be due to a crash involving what was previously a stauld vehiclled v. new this morning, take a look at that car. that's a mangled private security car. you don't hear about this very often. firefighters brought out the jaws of life to pull the driver out of the car. it crashed into a stoplight at crossman avenue and east java drive near highway 37 in sunnyville about 2:00 this morning. we're still waiting for word on the condition of the driver and the reason behind the crash. new this morning, california is joining the state of new mexico in suing the trump administration over environmental concerns, that lawsuit is over the administration's efforts to delay new rules to reduce methane leaks on federal land.
