expecting warmer temps today. we will be getting into the 70s and 80s but i'll have a look at when you can see closer digits. mike, how's are the roads. pretty much green all over the bay but i'm watching over here out of the north bay and fairfield westbound 80 approaching that split with 680 a crash overnight, a tanker truck went off the roadway and there's a little spill but apparently it had some soap in the back it's cargo that's what's leaking out into the roadway. a distraction that's why there's a little slowing in that area. southbound 68 toward 24 should pick up any second toward walnut creek. back to you. thank you very much, mike. back to breaking news recovering in the south bay this morning. this is a live look as police investigate a stabbing in the willow glen area of san jose. a large police presence there. kris sanchez is there as well talking with investigators. she reports that the victim is a man who was stabbed 13 times but

will likely survive. police tell chris they're looking for the attacker. we will break any news for you on twitter. chris will join us again at 5:30. live look this morning from the golden gate bridge ahead of sunday's san francisco marathon. this year, however, is going to be a little bit different. for the first time ever the northbound lanes on the bridge are going to be closed completely to drivers in the race. we're live near the golden gate bridge with why officials decided do this. good morning, pete. >> reporter: it's an unprecedented move by golden gate bridge officials deciding to close down the northbound lanes during the sunday morning part of the san francisco marathon. and they say this all comes down to safety. now they cited examples of vent events around the world where people have driven into pedestrians, so this sa you will about being safe during the marathon. they're saying that the northbound lanes will be closed from 6:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. this will affect around 4,500

charred and overnight we were looking closer at thoo those numbers we found it's more than twice the size of san francisco. that's the footprint of this fire. right now it's only at 10% containment. the detwiler fire is not the only fire. this is a look at the cal fire incident map across the entire state of california. you see how active this fire season has been so far. these are the number of fires so far this year statewide and it is simply astounding. according to them, cal fire has reported more than 3,000 fires just this year and 2,000 achers that have burned and the summer obviously far from over. laura. >> sam, the search for an arson suspect in the east bay continues this morning. look at this video that's out of fremont. police think the car that you see there may be connected to an arson. police say someone over the weekend burned an american flag that had been hanging in front of a house near michigan boulevard and pickering avenue. after reviewing surveillance

video from the neighborhood, they identified this car as a vehicle of interest. it is a newer model honda civic, possibly silver with dark-tinted rear windows. at 5:06, new this morning someone spray painted racial slurs in a north bay high school. it happened at this high school on wednesday. they spray painted the well known of an african-american adult as well as racial slurs on a school wall. the search for a suspect kwinz i tinsz. police in emery vim say they're trying to find some help they're looking for a man who was beat with a baseball bat near san pablo avenue and mcarthur boulevard. they're having anyone who might have cell phone video to call them. we wanted to see how often this kind of crime happens in emeryville. so reinvestigated overnight crime. they say there have been 26 aggravated assaults as of june. that's up by nine assaults compared to the same point last

year. happening today, the second hearing in the kate styly murder case. juan francisco lopez has been charged with shooting and killing her in san francisco. he pled not guilty. both sides were in san francisco court last friday but they said thetd were not ready to proceed but the judge said the case could be set to trial today. a follow-up now, officers involved in a deadly shooting in san ma taye renoio back in april have been cleared of any criminal wrongdoing. police say a man pointed a gun at a driver and took a car. when officers arrived on scene, the suspect pointed his gun directly at them. fearing for their safety, the three chp officers fired their weapons killing the man. the district attorney says the lethal use of force was justifiable. follow-up this morning on a uc berkeley professional e professional is blaming state regulators for the spill weigh dam failure back in february. then say the recent report says

the deterioration of the spill weigh could have been prevented if proper procedures had been followed over the past few decades. this was an ongoing problem. the department of water resorts says that it comes additional alanalyses and studies and it will ensure that this report is shared with their forensic team. it is 5:08 and we're off to a mild start in some spots but other spots it's fairly cool. overall clear skies right now. in san francisco question see it's 56 degrees and by 8:00 we'll start hitting the 60s in the forecast. so if you have plans to be outdoors during lunch we'll be climbing into the upper 60s for san francisco but san jose will be one of those warmer spots. 59 degrees already at this hour. 79 by 2:00 and then right into the 80s at about 3:00. now we can expect to see that high pressure building, although we can also hit the niends. today is going to be a great day go hike being. if you have plans to head out to the east bay, cool morning by 7:00 a.m. if you're getting started early and by 10:00 a.m.

the nasdaq extending its winning streak to ten days. that's the longest stretch since 2015. the dow dropping 28 points ton 28,611. the nasdaq edging up nearly five pints to 6390. the federal fraid trade commission as part of its review of amazon deal to buy whole foods is reported by looking into allegations the online retailer misleads customers about its pricing discounts. the ftc is reportedly probe a complaint by a consuming you watchdog group that looked at a thousand products listed last month and it found in 60% of products with list prices, the price was actually higher than what amazon had sold these same products in the previous three months. the review of course say signal that the agency's take a very serious look at the whole foods deal which critics say could give amazon an unfair advantage. and samsung is dpoekexpected to unveil its new west phone next

the east we kind 6 have a variety. oakland at 73 degrees were hayward 74 then warmer towards the inland spots,ual nat nut creek 88, antioch 91 and concord 92 degrees. along the pins 34r5 we will remain into the loerp 60s for the most part half moon bay 61 degrees, daly city 63 and then areas like san mateo 73 degrees. sfrangs also expect to climb into the upper 60s, sfrangs expecting to hit a high of about 66, 67. we might even see high of about 68. north bay right now point reyes one of the cooler spots alt 60 degrees and then if you plan on heading to condord, well expect for this to be one of the hottest spots in general, not just for today but through the weekend as well by about 2:00 already at 87 degrees. so concord definitely expect it to be one of the hotter spots in the area for today. but, this weekend concord is expecting 90s in the forecast yet again. mike, how are the roads looking?

if i occasion project. >> westbound will hear how this will affect your commute. good morning, bob. >> reporter: good morning. 10:00 here millbrae caltrain station you're going to have governor jerry brown, nancy pelosi, mayor ed lee and other government leaders helping caltrain break ground on this almost $2 billion lec tra if i occasion project that will be running up and down the peninsula on the caltrain corridor. we're talking about the king station all the way down to the ten station in san jose. right now it runs diesel local motives that are over 30 years old according to the agency need replacing and anyone who's done this commute knows they're packed, many times standing room only. 65,000 people ride caltrain daily, that's more than double the number from 2005 'with the new electric trains were caltrain can increase capacity add be up to six trains for peak hour in each directs according to agency. the new cars will still top out at 79 myles miles per hour but will be quieter and less

investigating car break-ins at several stations on wednesday night. all right. truly tragic story right now, this morning the search is ongoing for the killer of a hayward father who was shot in front of his baby. this is a memorial for that victim gropes. we have been covering this story since it happened on wednesday at which point we've learned that the victim's name is daniel delltor row. he's 29 years old. they say somebody shot and killed him near kmerry land park as he was pushing his baby in the stoler. this is his wife who tells us that her husband was trying to leave a gang. >> all he wanltded to do was provide for his family. we had a big plans to get out of this stupid bay area. and now it's not going to happen. >> well, the victim's wife says that she doesn't know who would want to kill her husband and as soon as we get an update on this heart-breaking investigation we're going to post it on to our website at nbcbayarea.com. 5:37, san francisco are

investigate a deadly stabbing. it happened in hayes valley between oak and page street. police say the man who was stabbed died at the scene. no wordiest any arrest. now in light of this latest stabbing, we look back at the homicide rate in san francisco for the past several years. according to an sfpd report from 2015, there have been 45 and 70 homicides in the city each year since 2010. a father shot and killed as his two young children looked on. this happened in lake county. now this morning detectives are asking anybody with information to please come forward. we have surveillance images of two different suspects who were are on the run right now. take a look at these photos. kind of hard to get a good look at the face, you see the outfit. investigators say they shot and killed 34-year-old david shal lot on wednesday during a robbery at his house that was on state street in kelseyville. that's near clear lake. all they took was a small amount of marijuana. his children are ages 8 and 10 and they witnessed the entire

you're still jammed. right now we'll show you how that builds and how you can get around it. >> good news when that clears up. you are looking right now at new video into our newsroom of a house fire in berkeley that happened within the last half hour or so. one of our viewers sueset giving us this video. that broke out on arch street about 4:30 this morning. you can see the flames spread being quickly from there forcing firefighters to call in for additional help. the viewer who shared this video with us was among those who called 911. san jose state to weather research lab is helping the firefighter efforts in mariposa county. they're collecting the data and feeding it the firefighter in realtime. in one case researchers saw flames and smoke that started swirling like a tornado. >> when kl lums rotate it becomes a dangerous situation for firefighters and one thing with the dopplar radar that we have we can scan across the fire and detect that circulation before it's visible.

>> they say the tool they use is the only one of its kind in the country and it can help fight future fires. about half the state's firefighters in fact have been called in to battle this fire. hundreds are from the bay area. san francisco fire department has more than two dozen firefighters battling the wildfire but for many departments it's a delicate balancing act. while they want to do all they can for mariposa countythy don't want to leave their own home bases uncovered. it's 5:46 on your friday. about 20 sea lions right now are recovering after being rescued along the central coast. our station on the central coast talked with the marine mammal center there. they said it's made no rescues over the last three days, the latest one yesterday afternoon just south of hiss mow pier north of santa barbara. officials say that they think the sea lions are sick from consuming toxic algae. more marine life you probably wouldn't want to be on the coastline. shark week begins on sunday and

alone. san jose looking gorgeous but we can expect to see a little bit of that cloud cover rolling in. we started off nice and clear but you might start noticing it gets hazier. but one thing you're also going to notice is those temperatures will be warming up quite nicely and quickly all thanks to this hot high-pressure billing in. that's going to keep us nice and dry through the weekend and we'll keep those nice warmer temps through sunday and by monday we'll see a change in that forecast but let's look at that temperature trend over the next couple of hours. san francisco will remain in the upper 50s climbing into the 60s by about 12:00. and of course if you have plans to head to the beach today it's going to be a great day do so. definitely expect to see a little bit of cloud cover so it will stay a little chilly early on. you might catch some coastal drizzle but by 11:00, 12:00 we start colleague out in terms of cloud cover and make way for sunnier conditions.

east san jose will be one of the warmer spots for today climbing into the 80s by about 1:00, 83 degrees so that temperature trend is kind of going to go up and down. but if you're maybe planning on heading to monterey, another beach spot, also expect to see that cloud cover through the 11:00 a.m. hour at about 60 degrees and then by 2:00 it will be 63. so i want to say maybe your best times to head to the beach to avoid a little bit of that coastal drizzle is going to be by mid-afternoon because early morning it's still going to be a little bit cold out there. norv over the next several days we do will have a couple of changes in that weather pattern that are going to come into play this weekend. we start off with that high-pressure as i mention and that's going to warm up san francisco nicely into possible lit 70s by sunday. and then by monday that high-pressure starts to drift away breaking apart and that brings us down to mr. seasonal temps to 67 degrees. 65 by tuesday and kind ref main similar throughout the next seven days. inland saturday and sunday will be your hottest days of the week and we kind of cool down just a bit into the lower 90s, but 97,
