4. great news. the only slower drive we see on our sensors is in the east bay, west highway 4 that crash at bailey i just got word all vehicles been cleared to the right shoulder ppsz. a distraction but we should see recovery from leverage all the way toward becamely road. we will watch this over the next few minutes. meanwhile the toll plaza has the back up on the left approach. i think one of those toll takers not yet there for work. that's standard. back to you. back now to continuing coverage of a tragic at a state fair in ohio last night an attraction park ride goes horribly wrong. one person dies, seven others injuries. >> it just broke apart. this morning we're looking at the local immaterial pact for you. bob redell in santa cruz with what inspectors will do there today because of this tragedy in ohio. bob. >> reporter: good morning. the assistant an cruz boardwalk has shut down it's fire ball ride. they would have inspected today

yesterday but they want to wait till today to get sunlight to get a better look. the fire ball ride here in assistant april cruz is made by the same manufacturer as the one at the ohio state year. as you can see in the cell phone video that's been widely sirk vated on social media came apart yesterday fling a number of riders into the air and on to the ground. one person died, seven more hurt, some critically. the boardwalk hasn't any h any probz lepz with its fire ball ride sht shutting it down just to be cautious. the manager wants to check with the manufacturer to see if there's any special adjustments they need to make after what happened in ohio. there is a key difference between the fire ball here in santa cruz and the one that malfunctioned in ohio, the one in ohio is porltable which means it can be break he down and set up somewhere else. >> ours is a fixed ride, it's inspected daily as mandated. california has the most restrictive mandated rides in

working on the core logistics of implementing that change. a san francisco police officer accused of posing child pornography may be in court as soon ased to. they arrested 37-year-old joshua enea. they say multiple pictures were found in his antioch home. they findings were part of a 5-month joint investigation who spoke about the arrest yesterday. >> it's very, very troubling that a sworn peace office worry have any of this stuff on their computer. >> enea was released on bail last night and is now suspended without pay. when had the investigation first started, police say he was moved to a behind-the-scenes job. happening today at 5:06 weapon have new details. we will learn them about bart's new trains in the say live look at the walnut creek bart station this morning with the he got an inseed peek earlier in the week,

changes that include fewer seats but more room to stand an also working security cameras. just last month we told you about how all bart trains were getting those security cameras. this after an investigation revealed that only some of the cameras were real others were decoys. today's bart's new police chief is giving an update on what comes next. some of those models are expected to rom out in september. also new this morning, a half million dollars is reportedly going to going towards a downtown novato train stop. the marin independent journal is reporting that the mtc approved that money yesterday. that's coming from a grant fund known as the transit performance initiative for the sonoma marin area rail transit stop. the new stop is going to connect downtown shopping areas and it will be near the redwood boulevard and grant avenue bus facility. electric car owners palo alto will now have more option when's it comes toing chag stakss but it will come at a price. the city will start charging roughly $2 an hour.

it comes as the city doubles the number of charging station in public facilities. as we reported earlier are the city unveiled two new solar panels that will help charge some of those stations. well, if you're planning on flyer out, there's a new security rule you should be prepared four. tsa is starting to screen all devices larger than your cell phone, that includes e readers and tablets. they now have to go into a separate bin and through the x-ray machine. the new rules were tested at ten different airports. travelers we are spoke to were mixed about the added screening. >> safety's been a big problems in the united states, especially on overseas, so i think that's good that, you know, they're just keeping us 15i67. >> it's a hassle. >> i would rather put everything in my checked lug gauge but i want it to arrive in one piece so i take it on with me. >> you'll see the security changes implamented in the coming weeks. in march, homeland security banned lap tops from eight middle eastern and african countries.

they there are concerns terrorists may have found a way to hide kbloes sives in electronic device dollars. it's 5:09 and we wake one clouds across much of the bay area this morning but it's all going to clear out. we'll get some sunshine and slightly warmer temperatures this afternoon. east san jose will reach up to 92 degrees and for the east bay up to 100 degrees in concord and antioch. and in danville 99 degrees. oakland 79 there, 87 in palo alto, san francisco reaching 70 in the mission district, and even hotter today in the north bay, up to 96 degrees in sonoma. we'll take a look at today's temperature trend for evergreen coming up in a few minutes but mike says there's improvements for your commute. the crash over in bay point has cleared about 20 minutes ago. we see improvement for the highway 4. over here 580 and 205 no major issues now that the crash has cleared off 205 and approaching the merge. look at that all green here for the tri-valley and for hayward

it's 5:13, just like yesterday we wake up with some clouds, looking live right now in san jose as you're getting up early and maybe getting the kids ready for day camp today it's going to be a hot one and all of the community pools have gotten loots of use. our temperatures today until everygreen heading into the low 90s this afternoon and we're going to settle in with these 90s over the next few days. we'll take a look ahead coming up at 5:19. and we're looking at that great travel times for the north bay despite the fog at the golden gate bridge. our camera shows a nice clear view and these times show a clear drive as well.

thank you very mitch, kari and mike. it's 5:13 right now. developing overnight the inmate who escaped from a riker's island jail in new york city has been found and it turns out he didn't go very far. 24-year-old burglary suspect that queen hill was found hiding in a trailer on the island around 3:00 a.m. eastern time. investigators say he jumped a fence and escaped yesterday afternoon. there were reports it happened as two inmates distracted guards who were watching after a small group. the missing inmate wasn't noticed until much later. this morning we are hearing from experts about an alarming new study about the future of the human race. >> you may have seen the headlines at this point online. researchers say that men are significantly less fertile than they were 40 years ago. that study found that sperm count has declined more than 50% in men from north america, europe, and new zealand. they wanted some perspective and investigate and talked with researchers about what might be

=kari/cu= ==kari/ck== let's take a live look outside right now as you yet ready to head out in san rafael and the driver's making it on around the s curve with clear visibility right there and we've seen the fog in patches across the bay area this morning. we are looking now at the seven-day forecast at the bottom of the screen, our temperatures stay in the 90s over the next several days in the south bay but we start out this morning at 61 degrees. so it's still a nice cool start where you can open up the windows and let in some nice cool air and then this is where we're going today. up to 97 in livermore, up to 94 in napa today, oakland 70 four

in san francisco, in the upper 60s. so as we look at the day planner for oakland, we start out at 62 degrees alt 8:00 and then some clearing today with high temperatures reaching into the upper 70s. once again and nap and sa nome april valleys it will start out nice and cool but our temperatures quickly go up into the low 80s by noontime and then low 90s early afternoon. some of the cooler temperatures over the next several days will, of course, be along the coast and assistant an cruz will be a nice place to hang out. will be in the low 70s and then some mid-60s, even some upper 60s for the weekend. and san francisco will also see some 60s and low 70s over the next few days, morning clouds and fog not going anywhere and for the inland areas our temperatures stay in the 90s spot we are in for some really hot temperatures and the pool has been our friend lately. i think we'll still be hanging out there this weekend. now mike you're check prongt gress for highway 4.

first responders who helped to save law makers from a gunman last month on a virginia baseball field. you'll remember that gunman shot four people during a republican baibs baseball team practice. congressman steve scalise was just released from the hospital yesterday after weeks and multiple surgeries. capital police returned fire killing the gunman. a new done dog park is coming to palo alto. the parks and rec department through their support at the parks this week but they urge the city to act quickly. it's expected to be built in the northern part of town. right now the city has three dedicated dog parks but they've been working on increasing that number for years. two other proposals in north ploelt actually fell through in recent months. coming up next, a loud night in walnut creek, the mission of overnight training going on here. we have new video this morning to show you. another suspect face a judge today in connection to the deadly assault 5i6 woman known as ms. flo.

brutal and deadly beating of ms. flo is expected to appear in court. >> ms. flo of course s the elderly san jose woman who was attacked inside of her home, flo douglas died from her injuries about a month after that. pete suratos joining us live from the hall of justice in san jose to explain who the newest suspect in this case is. and the list of suspects just keeps growing. >> reporter: good morning to you, sam and laura. yes, that list keeps growing and the latest suspect is senna ka san choez tose. she's the mother of one of the suspects being directly accused of murdering ms. flo just last year. that suspect is 19-year-old johnny brannan. here's video of him appearing at the hall of justice yesterday. you can see him in his orange jumpsuit. that 19-year-old was arrested by police on tuesday and is the second suspect directly accused of murdering 88-year-old flo douglas inside of her san jose home just last year. that first suspect is 19-year-old zachary cue within who was arrested just days after

dug lags was brutally attacked and now brown's mother later today is facing charges of being an accessory after the fact of that murder. now, the death of ms. flo as she was affectionately known by many in the south bay sending shock waves throughout the community. and documents reveal in early september last year that brown along with thee other suspects planned to rob diagnosis laus. prosecutors saying their plans went too far with a man aggressively beating her, taking her car, belongings and leaving her on the floor of her home, even returning minutes later to beat her again. she died of her injuries a month after that attack. >> what a treasured individual she was. it's -- it's a tragedy not only to her family and to her friends, but also to the community. >> reporter: as it stands, there are a total of six people facing charges in this case. santos is set to appear in court at some point this afternoon. we're live in san jose, pete

suratos for today in the bay. >> all right. thanks so much, pete. at 5:32 this morning we have a new video of an overnight disaster drill in walnut creek put might have heard some loud bangs in the downtown area if were there. it was close to broadway plaza. the area was closed last night from 10:00 to 2:00 this morning. walnut police and contra costa firefighters and security guards all took part in the live training drill. police are hoping that surveillance video can help them solve a violent incident that may leave a woman partially blind. you can see a man randomly elbow that woman in the face and knock her down as she's just walking down international boulevard in the fruitvale district. the woman then struck her head on the ground and as she's falling down she snaps it back. this happened last week. we spoke to the victim and her niece who said that that man first yelled at her to get out of the way before bowling her

over. >> she's on the floor and knocked down. >> i don't know why, like, why? she didn't do nothing. she was just walking by. >> doctors say that the victim suffered a broken bone in her face and that that may leave her partially blind in her left eye. new this morning, more than $200 million worth of crystal methamphetamine is heading to australia was busted in santa rosa. here's what a lot of that meth or ice as it's called on the streets looks like. the president democrat reports this morning that that was found in a storage facility last month, heaps of it. investigators say they've arrested three men in strail australia. one of the men bought a plane in santa rosa and was planning on flying the drugs back to australia. new kitchens are coming to san francisco unified schools where food can be made from scratch. currently no schools in the district can do that. examiner reports this morning the district has approved five to six school kitchens for upgrades. they've serve as regional hubs for all schools. the nutrition department hopes to have the first kitchen up and

running by 2019. the goal is to one day have all schools with their own kitchens cooking healthy food for kids every single day. needy families in california will soon be able to connect to critical food sources thanks tie bill signed into law this month by governor brown. the bill allows user the cal fresh food program to dial 211 to more quickly access nearby participating food pant tries and grocery outlets. this is the first bill authored by new palo alto assembly man mark berman to be signed into law. bay area soccer fans may still be a little euphoric, maybe tired this morning after a thrilling gold cup final last night. >> they got their money's worth no goubt that. stanford alum jordon morris kicking the goal in the 88th minute. goal. u.s. goes on to beat jamaica 2-1. moore than 60,000 fans attended last night's game but one group you might say already lost the group before it started.

thousands of fans of team mexico bought tickets assuming that their national team would make it to the finals only to see them lose in the semis. >> supposed to be like usa versus mexico but now it's usa versus jamaica but we're just trying to get a good time. >> you can't script it. hopefully they did have a good time. the sniet was more than just a game for a lot of those fans because they also went to a pregame fee affiliata in levi's parking lot. >> started earl. >> i is it before 1:30? celebrating all things football. so big soccer match, lots of happy people. and you know what? and. and that celebration and the crowd continued into toward the nighttime because i was getting continued updates from waze reports saying there was a lot of congestion around levi. that's all cleared up today. we're back to the typical morning slow down for north 101 to 680. that's your first burst of traffic and that will ease up over the next four 5 and then kick in about an hour from in our. the rest of the bay shows eye nice easy drive.

hotter inland. so you may be making plans to find some air-conditioning or one of those misting stations if you'll be in the gilroy area checking out the gilroy garlic festival this weekend. all of that garlic just going through the air with some 95 degree temperatures. i still love it anyway. if you're planning on heading to almedia for schooler temperatures you've got the park street art and wine fair on saturday. that goes on from 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. and look at these temperatures only making it up to 70 degrees with a nice little breeze. heading on the road this weekend going to l.a. it's going to be in the mid-70 but i wanted to give a heads up because of some hurricanes out in the pacific, the waves along the southern california coast will be very dangerous and we will also have some slightly more choppy waves here in the bay area too. maybe you want to head over to the mountains and enjoy some time in the sierra. here's a live look this morning,

form of the affordable care act but the senate keeps trying to chip away at it. senate has taken two votes on bills so far, both have failed. there's another vote expected today, the so-called skinny bill that would leave much of the aca in place return clueding the medicaid expansion. the situation is causing -- calling senator majority leaders mitch mcconnell's leadership into question. a political analyst at the washington post compares the situation to a dog who is caught in a car. conservative republican senator brooks says mcconnell has got to go. today's skinny bill would keep that medicaid expansion in place but it would remove the individual mandate. the rule that everybody has to buy insurance. but if healthy people leave obamacare, insurance companies will not want to sell that insurance because then they're just selling to the sick. that's bad for insurance markets, but it's bad for republicans too. because if it is not a repeal, and it is certainly not a

people in california do support policies that fight climate change. those numbers coming in from the public policy institute of california. 56% of adults say they approve of cap and trade. that's the highest level of support since 2009. 76% support a bill that would, i all of california's electricity to come from some sort of renewable energy source by 2025. it's now four months and counting when it comes to record highs for bay area real estate market. home prices continue to sizzle this summer. the bay area median price rose to 735,000 nds june. that's up 7.5% from a year ago. this month's add does not include san mateo county. the last time median prices fell year-over-year it was back in april of 2012. that's 63 straight months of increases. a rough week getting rougher for pob star justin bieber. he struck pap razz saturday in

$100 bills. he was dropping benning minutes on his way down the zreet. he said that he pulled this stunt because he's trying to start a new career as a comedian. ffrtly for that guy police did not find it as funny as he did and he was soon taken into custody. 5:58. news this morning one northern california city having trouble with its new system for handing out parking tickets. drivers say the signage in downtown sacramento is hard to understand so they often don't know where they can park or for how long. and it turns out it's not just drivers who are confused but also parking enforcement officers. the issue came to light after one couple came forward saying they received three incorrect tickets in the past year. the city admitted the couple was right and that it's likely because some officers are still learning the new parking system. in the meantime, drivers say the best advice is to have proof that you parked in the right spot. >> document the sign near where you parked, make sure you figure out the date and time and contest it.
