piece-by-piece. this morning, officials are trying to figure out how this ride swinging and spinning up to 40 feet in the irair could have broken apart, throwing riders airborne. the wreck killing 18-year-old tyler jerrell, a high school student who enlisted in the marines last week. seven other people were injured, including jennifer lambert, who remains in a coma. she was on the ride with her boyfriend, who suffered a broken leg. >> just a sight that no parent would want to go through. >> reporter: lambert's mother, denise gonzalez, said the fireball was her favorite attraction. >> every year, she went there and rode that. >> reporter: john kasich visited the grounds on thursday. the ride's manufacturer ordering it to be shut down worldwide, while an investigation is under way.

o== one of the two men charged in last year )s deadly ghost a very good morning to you at 8:56. one of the two men charged in last year's deadly ghost ship warehouse fire may soon be out of custody, at least for the time being. a short time from now a bail hearing gets under way for max harris. harris and former ghost ship live-in manager derrick al mana are charge with 36 counts of involuntary manslaughter. that is one count for each person who died in the december

fire. harris was a longtime warehouse tenant. after the fire, he moved to southern california and that's when prosecutors filed charges against him. derrick alma that faces similar charges but he is not a part of today's bail hearing. our pete suratos is at the courthouse reaching out to prosecutors. he'll have a live report for our midday newscast. check into our twitter feed. all fire ball thrill rides in california remain shut down after the deadly accident this week at the ohio state fair. the ride just broke apart, sending riders flying. sadly, one man died and we've now learned he had just enlisted in the marines. seven others were seriously injured. on our facebook page, link to more details about those victims. our next update is in half an hour. also on the midday newscast at 11:00.
