and a very happy wednesday to you as we take a live look out in san jose. it is humid out there. good morning, everyone. let's get straight to accident this morning. >> this is going to be a problem later on in the morning commute but it is a major problem if you are traveling to this area. let's get you located. easy drive for moefrt of your speed sense sores. this affects the on and off rampz. i saw a lot of slowing as more crews arrive. this is at 14th or mission, depending on which state route you're talking about. 14th north of 238 or mission or state highway 185.

there's an overturn big rig. it spilled about 70,000 pounds of appliances. that will cause an issue coming through the area. service streets through hayward will tet tied up as well. lighter traffic flows so approaching the area you're okay, and through the area you can use your alternates. i'll get you more detail as chp gives it to you. >> we are feeling some higher humidity this morning and it gets even worse as we go through the day and it looks as if this disturbance that's just offshore just to our south could bring in a slight chance of thunderstorms for the bay area later on tonight and you can see that lightning strike, that bolt of lightning offshore and that may be a concern as our temperatures today reach into the triple digits once again and in oakland while up to 80 degrees while

antioch at 103. developing now law enforcement in the east bay investigating a shooting in hayward. >> reporter: good morning. we know the alameda county sheriff's office is investigating this shooting. we did -- i just reached out to a sergeant here with the so waiting back to hear for details. what we know so far, the shots were fired around 11:30 last night. this is near apple avenue in hayward. it's not clear if this was a drive-by shooting or something else. based on the number of yellow evidence markers, it's possible that there were a number of shots fired. it appears that some of those bullets hit a two story home an a black stuf suv. the last four weeks have been

particularly dangerous for the city of hayward. in july alone three people were murdered. the most recent, this past monday, police discovered a body of a 44-year-old man in a room in a motel 6. officers are still investigating. in mid-july someone shot and killed a 30-year-old father as he pushed his three-month-old baby in a centraler and earlier in the month a man was killed on hill avenue. hayward has seen four homicides in the year 2017. reporting live here, bob redle. the u.s. air force successfully launched an unarmed intercontinental ballistic missile off the central california coast. that launch came from the air force just after 2:00 this morning. this is the military's fourth test this year and follows repeated missiles tests by north korea. coast guard crews have been searching through the night for the person in the water in ocean beach. >> crews got a all about 7:30

last night that there was someone in the water near the cliff house restaurant. thick fog is hampering the search. officials say coast guard cutter would be spending the overnight hours looking for that victim. our pete suratos is headed there. taking a live look at downtown san francisco where new numbers say homicides and test are up this year. 41 homicides so far this year. that's up from 30. petty theft reports rose from about 19,000 to 22,000 and arson cases jumped from 131 to 1501. at the at the same time cases of rape, aggravated assault and human traffic have all decreased this year. a scare for passengers and workers at sfo. a teenager suddenly just exited the plane as it moved along the tarmac.

it happened yesterday afternoon. after the lean landed passengers say a 17-year-old boy sitting in the emergency exit row opened the emergency exit and just jumped out. some flyers say the whole thing was just hard to process. >> so the door opened when the plane landed and i just saw someone flying out of the door of the emergency door. >> the pilot called air-traffic control. they spotted the teen. he was already being held by maintenance workers. he's in custody as customs and border control agents investigate. some mystery this morning surrounding a south bay art studio which has been shot down. there's a crimes task force investigates. it's located on toya avenue in san jose. parents yesterday received a letter from that studio that san jose police were investigating. police have confirmed that the internet crimes against childrens task force is involved. we'll keep asking questions, to try to get more details.

the studio will remain closed until that investigation is complete. at 4:35 happening today, congresswoman barbara lee set to talk about the affordable care act. she is scheduled to highland hospital trauma center and address an impact the repeal of the aca would have. it would lose $94 million every year if that law is repealed. get ready, the museum of ice cream making its next stop in san francisco. the museum recently visited l.a. and new york. it's bay area arrival scheduled for september 1st. visitors can find art displays and sprinkle pool, whatever that is, all centered around the frozen treat. they'll set up shot at 1 grant avenue in union scare -- it is 4:36 right now. apple shares on the rise while

yesterday. investors will get a key report on hiring in the private sector ahead of friday's u.s. jobs report. the dow rising 72 points to 21,963, the nasdaq up 14. also watch shares ever apple. they could trade at a record high today after the company reporting better than expected earnings on strong iphone sales and that's easing fears of a possible slowdown as consumers wait for the next version of the device. also there's been speculation production issues that would delay the launch of the next iphone until late this year or into next year. and last month it was taco bell, earlier this week it was disney, now lyft has yet another partner, amtrak train riders can now request a lyft directly from the amtrak app. first timers can use the promo code amtrak lyft that's all one word for $5 off of their first four rides.

. new overnight. vice president mike pence continued his european visit. this is the final leg of his european tour. pence praised the country for courage in the face of russian pressure. you may recall during a recent visit to nato, president trump appeared to shove the leader of mon ta negative roe as they assembled for a photo op. >> transportation officials say they plan to build a road of a massive central coast landslide. it's that scenic coastal highway. cal tran says the replacement road will span mud creek. it may take a rear to reopen that route.

they'll release a cost estimate and timeline later this month. as i walk out into the car this morning at about 3:00, it was humid. >> it's going to get worse. as we go into tonight, some parts of the bay area will only get down into the mid-70s. >> overnight? >> yes, overnight and our high temperatures we know, we've had triple digits around the bay area. we'll see the same thing today. we're not seeing as much fog this morning. it's right there over the golden gate bridge and across the bay. while much of san francisco's all clear this morning, we do still have that heat advisory in affect and this is where temperatures will once again reach into the triple digits and even some upper 90s. as we look at what we're expecting again today, another day where gilroy gets over 100 degrees, so slightly hotter than it was yesterday. as you get a look at the

seven-day forecast, you'll see that it will still be very warm throughout the rest of the forecast. we'll be up to 102 degrees in walnut creek, fremont, 93 degrees, and oakland looking at a high of 80 degrees there. 91 in palo alto, san mateo looking at a high of 85 and 75 in the mission district. for the north bay up to 95 in nap&santa rosa will be up to 90 degrees. as you're looking out the window, we're getting started this morning and getting ready for what will be another hot day. you just want to make sure you're wearing something that keeps you cool again. short sleeves and shorts probably a good things especially if it's vacation day or if you're off work. we've been watching something unusual. it's been so long since i've had to show the radar in my forecast and this is a disturbance that's just offshore. it is producing some lightning and this will be of high concern over the next few days because it looks like a lot of that rain is not making it inland but some of that lightning may as we head

into the next 24 hours. we still see this rain rolling across the central coast and just south of the bay area. as we get a closer look at what to expect here throughout the day tomorrow, high humidity and this will keep those overnight lows in the 70s and keeping the clouds streaming across the bay area while we do still have hot temperatures. it's going to be very mug y andsomething we only get once or twice a year. as we look at the seven-day forecast it will be very humid today and mostly cloudy with a slight chance of thunderstorms or dry lightning as we head into the day tomorrow and for the weekend, all of this clears out and our temperatures drop down a few more degrees. mike, is still tracking that closure in the east bay? >> it's sounds confusing. the cliff notes is a smooth commute for everybody else. for the major freeways, except for this major issue coming out of castro valley.

this will cause a backup. this overturned big rig and thousands of pounds of appliances that are there, that will be there possibly for a couple hours and it affects 14th which is a major off-ramp from northbound to 38 your commute direction. you don't see a lot of slowing but over the next couple of hours and chp says it may take a couple hours to clear this, there will be some slowing coming off the castro valley highway. the on and off ramps to 238 southbound, those are blocked off as well for a couple of areas through that same area. so hiss peerion is one access point. so that could stir up things quite a bit and this is a concern for the morning commute. right now, traffic still making it's way around there all right, and getting over to the bay bridge you're okay as well. bob redell is heading over to this crash scene and give us an update. we'll handle ways in the

picture and they have that too. >> we are processing the bicycle to determine if there's any fingerprints. >> that victim has been released from the hospital. his attacker is described as being 5'10", 200 pounds with long dark hair. it is a story that made national headlines. cal rugby player was paralyzed in the national championship game. he was playing against arkansas state in santa clara when he suffered a spinal injury in a play being investigated by usa rugby. he was transferred to hospital for treatment. >> i want to get on my feet, i want to do all these things if i give up i know that's not going to happen. so i have to push through that and do everything i possibly can to recover. >> pay lor is starting to show improvement in his muscles while relearning basically dask tasks. the support of his family, friends and will wishers helps

today. throw some humidity in the mix and that makes it even worse. this is what we're looking at today as far as our high temperatures in the south bay, up to 102 in gilroy this afternoon, 102 in pleasanton as well and oakland today 80 degrees and for the peninsula we'll be up to 91 in palo alto, san francisco, 70 and 75 in the mission district and the north bay into the mid-90s from napa down to know vado. we'll talk about the high temperatures expected for the rest of the weekend, the chance for some thunderstorms and maybe dry lightning. that's coming up. mike is tracking that big traffic headache in east bay. >> it could potentially be a measure issue. right now we're looking at the speed sensors. we're concentrating over here in the hayward area. this is right off the castro valley y.
