4:32 am
through the early region, as we can expect to see this kind of move through the area, and then of course the majority of this rain is evaporating before it touches the ground, so if he take a live look at radar we can see plenty of moisture. we should see this tapering off by about 6:30 this morning and then by this afternoon, it's just going to be really muggy and really humid, because we are tracking more hot temperatures in the forecast. >> vna, thank you. we'll get back to rick boone who is in campbell with that amazing fire. rick, what is the very latest? >> reporter: well, what i know from neighbors i just talked to, just moments ago, it all happened down this road here on april way. some fire trucks early on the scene attending to some vehicles that are still smoldering in an alleyway. this is what we know happened. this began around 2:30 this morning, and that's when neighbors and homes along april way say their dogs woke them up, and they basically didn't know why, so they ran outside and they saw flames.
4:33 am
these major flames shooting from their backyard just over the fence. over that fence, an apartment building and a carport, and then they saw what they say is an abandoned car and several cars on fire, almost a dozen vehicles all on fire. how they caught on fire? that's not known as of right now, but we do know according to officials here on the scene, no one has been injured due to this fire. the residents inside the apartment building ironically have not seen them walk out of their building. i got a little closer to where the cars were still smoking. i didn't see anybody walk out of the apartment building. we'll find out more how this may have started. we're live in campbell, rick boone for "today in the bay." >> april way off of highway 17, probably see it from there. thank you, rick. this morning, san francisco police increasing presence in a popular park following a

shooting in daylight. >> pete joins us from sfpd headquarters of the latest actions being taken, good morning. >> reporter: good morning to you, scott and laura. san francisco police are going to increase their presence at the popular dolores park in response to that shooting that took place in broad daylight yesterday. they'll add two officers patrolling the park for the remainder of the week through the weekend, something that is usually reserved for the weekend. we'll show you some video from yesterday when all this unfolded. scary time for park goers who were there at the time and police are still investigating if this was indeed a targeted shooting. according to san francisco police they're saying the victims are two men and one minor, all of them sent to sm general for injuries, one of them facing life-threatening injuries. the motive of the shooting is unclear. witness said a group of five people wearing bandanas approached a group and one of
4:35 am
the people opened fire on the victims. here is what other parkgoers had to tell us what happened. >> i went to make sure everything was okay, mediate and make sure to be the one to calm everyone down, no, i hear they're strapped. gun raised to me. >> i heard six gunshots and i see everybody running down the hill so i took cover and ran for the bathroom. >> reporter: now witnesses say the armed group ran off after the shooting, possibly jumping into a toyota corolla. all of this is still under investigation. if you have any information to help with this case to find the suspect or suspects, contact sfpd. we're live in san francisco, pete suratos for "today in the bay." in the oakland and berkeley hills, they are keeping an eye on the thunder and lightning that swept through the region. >> this morning the focus is putting out hot spots. 20-acre fire pretty much surrounded, 50% contained. the search continues for a cause. uc berkeley says the fire

started on university property. they are investigating it as a possible arson but oakland fire says cal fire is in charge and that agency is not talking arson at this point. here's melinda drayton from oakland fire. >> if it's determined to be arson they take a certain action. if it's determined to be negligent they take action. >> reporter: as of now? >> it's an open investigation. a man involved in a crash who brandished a gun at a driver near the fire has been arrested. so far they've not been able to connect that man to the fire. the search continues this morning for the man who concord police say tried to kidnap a teenage girl near the contocord barth station on march 6. the suspect grabbed the 16-year-old, tried to pull him into his car. she fought back and got away. here is the vehicle police are looking for, buick le sabre similar to this one. health leaders are

74 degrees. in san francisco, 68 degrees, expect periods of on and off again showers because we've got this monsoonal moisture and although this doppler radar looks impressive, believe it or not, a lot of this rain is evaporating after it touches the ground. that's why the rain isn't as heavy for spots along the bay area so we kind of zoom in we can see plenty of moisture. as i mention it's on and off again and we can't expeno can e the rain sticking around the morning hours. it will be muggy and humid, the temperatures will remain very warm in the 70s for east san jose during the 5:00 a.m. hour and we stick to the 70s all day long so not a very sunny day today, mainly cloudy. we'll keep the chance of seeing some thunderstorms in the forecast at least through the 5:00 and 6:00 a.m. hour and if you notice the temperatures even climb in san francisco into the 70s. so we kind of focus on the futurecast. we can still see a bit of a cell along the walnut creek and fremont area and by about
