good wednesday morning. let's start right now with a live look outside from our emeryville cam are where the fog is out and even some light mist in the air this morning. we are glad you're with us on this midweek wednesday. i'm sam brock. >> and i'm laura garcia-cannon. straight to the forecast right now with kari. >> it is looking nice as you step out the door this morning. still mostly cloudy. this is what we've seen the past couple of mornings. no major changes as you head out on this wednesday. it's 62 degrees. the tri-valley at 59 degrees. and it feels mild in spots, cooler in san francisco. the fog you can't see anything. as we head through the day highs in the south bay reaching up to 83 degrees.

88 in the tri-valley. for the east bay expect a high of 72 degrees. we'll talk more about these temperatures as we head into the weekend it cools down a bit. mike, starting with a crash at the bay bridge. >> always an alert when i mention bay bridge. overall a smooth drive. the crashes we do have are off to the shoulder, but this is right in front of a construction zone east 80. there's a crash on the shoulder. the construction zone around fourth and the lower span. be careful in the area. we've heard no workers were injured. this happened a while back. it looks like it's about to clear up. the approach from the east bay and it is clear right now. back to you. thank you very much. we do have some breaking news this morning. french counterterrorism prosecutors have opened an investigation into a car attack on soldiers near paris overnight. police say someone hit six soldiers with a car then drove away.

paris police say they're searching right now for the driver and the vehicle. police say the person behind the wheel seemed to clearly target those soldiers. right now they're not talking about a possible motive. >> let's get to more breaking news overnight. what you're looking at here are photos of u.s. air force jets arriving in guam. those pictures were posted on the agency's twitter page. the jets are expected to conduct missions with japan and south korea. of course this comes as the island which is a u.s. territory was threatened directly by north korea. just minutes ago secretary of state rex tillerson said, quote, i do not believe there is any imminent threat. americans should sleep well at night. he also said diplomatic channels right now are working. guam's governor governor is reassuring the people there is no danger. president trump reacting to

reports that north korea had miniaturized a nuclear warhead that could if fit into a missile. president trump vowing to answer, quote, with power and fury if north korea it continues its threats. we'll have much more on the latest developments from washington including what some republican senators are saying about the president's choice of words. a live report from d.c. in 30 minutes. developing here at home overnight workers pulled this massive crane from on top of a campbell home. it toppled over in the neighborhood yesterday afternoon leaving plenty of damage behind. this morning neighbors are hoping things will finally get back to normal soon. >> "today in the bay's" bob redell joins us live from campbell with the investigation now under way. still active behind you, bob. they want to find out how this happened. >> reporter: good morning to you, sam and laura. pg&e will be conducting an investigation and so will cal osha. that collapsed crane has been

removed from this neighborhood here in campbell, a neighborhood not far from the intersection of west campbell avenue. you see right now workers are removing the counterweight to have them hauled out of here. this started with workers using two other cranes to upright that collapsed crane and load it on to a large truck. a number of people in the surrounding houses had to be evacuated during that removal process. we are trying to find out when they will be returned back home. king crane have been hired by pg&e to replace a power pole in someone's backyard on sondra way yesterday around noon. that crane, which was extended by as much as 200 feet, tipped over and crashed down on to two sheds and part of the roof of a house. no one was hurt. we spoke with a man who lives in the neighborhood and works in construction. here is what he thinks happened. >> it was overextended. you can only reach so far with the crane and if the weight

shifted the wrong way, it's going to go down. >> it better not hit my roof. i just had my roof done. >> reporter: nbc bay area has reached out to king crane for comment, but that company has yet to get back to us. bob redell, "today in the bay." thank you very much, bob. appreciate that. >> several people with outstanding warrants totaling over $1 million were arrested at a milpitas hotel. these are pictures of three suspects but four were arrested at the embassy suites hotel. they he wanted for i.d. theft, burglary, and possession of drugs. the arrests happened more than two weeks ago but police are just releasing that information ov overnight. >> laura, if you live in dublin, you may want to keep your win doughs closed this week. they are rehabilitating a sewer pipeline. they say people may be able to smell some of the fumes as crews

and do your thing. good morning. i'm landon dowdy live at cnbc world headquarters. here are today's top business headlines. wal street could start off the day in the red as investors rise to gee he owe political tensions between the u.s. and north korea. asian and european markets are lower and safe haven investments such as the yen are all rising. u.s. stocks back yesterday afternoon following president trump's comments about north korea's reported ability to put a warhead on top of a missile. the dow fell to 22,085. the nasdaq slipped to 13 to 6370. disney plans to launch a standalone espn streaming service next year. it will build out the existing watch es pn app and access to

>> you'll know if i'm angry, i promise you. good news for flyers this morning, even the ones that have been angry about recent treatment, bumped passenger rates at historic lows accord ing to new numbers released by the department of transportation. this is after a series of recent passenger bumps that went viral. one in every 19,000 passengers was kicked off an overbooked flight in the first six months of the year that marks the lowest such rate since 1995. in the meantime hawaiian airlines tops the list with the best ontime arrival rate. at the very bottom would be spirit airlines. 4:41. a nice cool start to our wednesday morning. what will the day hold? kari has a look at the forecast. we're still looking at a repeat of yesterday. our nice weather continues even though we do start out with clouds. all of that clears out as we go through the late morning hours and our temperatures will go from the lower 60s into the lower 80s for evergreen this afternoon. i'll have a look at the complete micro climate forecast up next.

outside at that ti&t park and l landing. the giants have an afternoon game today hosting the world champion cubs. they won last night trying to let the good times roll. >> intense flash flooding. fire crews rescue people out from trapped cars. look how they had to do it. it's all happening in jackson, mississippi. the new forecast from noaa predicted we'd see up to 17 named storms. so far there have been six double the normal amount by this point in the year. hurricane see he son lasts through november. >> well, that is a little disconcerting. six so far this year, the initial forecast with 17. a rough hurricane season. >> they reach the peak in

mid-september so a long ways to go. we'll see what happens. and as we look at our weather, nice and quiet, everything is looking good here as we take a live look outside in fremont. it is a little bit of a light breeze at 59 degrees and mostly cloudy skies again this morning. it's 64 in san jose and 59 in fair field and napa. santa rosa starts out at 57. patches of fog but mostly clouds across the south bay. gilroy will be reaching those high temperatures up to 87 degrees, and now the seven-day forecast coming up at the bottom of the screen. we'll start out in the south bay. now as we head to the east bay, antioch up to 90 degrees. danville, 88 and oakland looking at a high of 72 degrees. san francisco, 61 degrees and some mid-70s from mill valley and mid-80s for sonoma. a nice and warm day with some fresh breezes and our winds will make it feel cooler.

it may be a good day for long sleeves. once the sun breaks out by late morning you'll need the sunglasses so go ahead and grab them now so that you're not caught off guard later. we do start out with clouds in oakland. at 8:00 we're looking at the day planner. it will be at 61 degrees and then 66 degrees at noon. still very nice throughout the day with mostly sunny skies. highs reaching the low 70s. and if you're head iing over to the tri-valley to go golfing it will still be a partly to mostly cloudy at 8:00 and we'll feel some temperatures in the lower 60s and then in the low 70s by 11:00, eventually hitting the mid 80s today. as we go through the week nothing changes here. we'll still have a fairly deep marine layer at about 2,000 feet and keeping the fog and the drizzle near the coast with some clearing throughout the day. the inland areas will be in the upper 80s where some of the warmer spots are much cooler as we head to this weekend and early next week.

we're in for some cooling temperatures which will be a welcome change as we head into early next week. and mike now has a new crash heading into hayward. >> that's right, kari. a very light commute right now. obviously it's early in the morning. we're looking at light traffic flow around the bay. green sensors everywhere. we're getting over from the san mateo bridge had in towards hayward right around the exit hearing about a crash blocking your fast lane. the initial report says that car hit the center divide and spun around there and then the person was out there waitiving for hel. they were able to get out of the car. the bad news they still have to get chp or the bridge crew out heading over to the hayward side on san mateo bridge. approaching the bay bridge, let's check with our waze system and see how things are shaping up as well getting over from berkeley to san francisco. now of course the bay bridge is the most direct route but later on in the commute if things get crowded could have a better

option as far as time goes heading to the north. an issue around the maze, track that. track it on the phone, track it with me in the morning. if i can't be there or even if i can double-check here and double-check the team you remember joining the team called nbc bay area wazers. there you go. back to you. >> okay. if you're on the roads, or planes, a number of charter planes flying in and out of the airport have increased. san mateo county leaders want those charter flights to help pay for some of the upkeep. mercury news or the aring a $75 landing fee is being added to both airports and the county will also on a trial basis charge $10 for parking. >> maybe that is a bargain. 4:49 right now. a lawsuit is bringing big changes to the solano county superior court. the court was sued for suspending driver's licenses of low-income drivers because they couldn't afford to pay the fines. the court settled the case out of court.

people will now be given the right to argue they are financially unable to pay the fine, and the court will have to consider alternatives such as a reduction in fines for community service instead. the court was sued by a man whose driver's lie accepcense w suspended because he couldn't afford a smog test. b.a.r.t. is looking to stage more officers onboard trains and on the platform. it's funded by the department of homeland security. seven officers and one sergeant cars throughout the east bay. according to ba.a.r.t. the team is still understaffed and they're looking to hire 50 officers. the b.a.r.t. chief of police says in the last year crime has been up throughout the b.a.r.t. system. happening today a.c. transit officials will be talking about the completion of the transit center in san francisco and how much it's going to cost to get there on their buses. that center, of course, right next to the sales force tower and it's expected to open early next year. tonight's meeting is at the city hall at 5:00.

of course that is a period of more than a decade. experts believe this year will be more of the same. >> continuing coverage now of the hbo hack that has hollywood on edge. they have called in the fbi. it's much bigger than first thought. hackers put out a ransom message. all companies need to take steps to become more secure. >> companies need to be proactive and make sure they take strong postures to protect their environment. >> the hack comes three years after that infamous sony hack when thieves released pretty embarrassing e-mails from thousands of employees. the mega millions is growing.
