"today in the bay" starts right now. good morning. good morning, everyone. i'm scott mcgrew. >> and i'm laura garcia-cannon. let's get to the forecast. anyone notice it's a little cooler out this morning? >> a little bit. it's nice. we're starting out with clouds. we'll see them quickly clearing up and slightly warmer temperatures today, but it's is still going to be very nice and we're continuing that great weather that we had yesterday. as you head out it's 62 degrees in san jose. and it's 58 degrees in napa and fairfield. san francisco, 61 degrees. now heading up to 64 today with 81 in antioch and san jose at 75 degrees.

4:44 now on your tuesday morning. i feel a tiny bit of fall it in the air. am i crazy? >> well, it does feel like fall. it does feel like fall but summer is going to return in the next couple of days. i don't want to think about that yet. school is starting this week for a lot of kids. temperatures in the low 60s. cloudy skies. sun rise at 6:25 this morning. and it's mostly cloudy now in the east bay at 60 degrees and 56 with a little bit of drizzle and fog in san francisco. it it will top out in the mid to upper 70s today which is really nice, much cooler than average, and now the seven-day forecast comes up it at the bottom of the screen, it feels like fall today but more like summer in just a couple of days so we're heading up to 81 degrees in antioch for the afternoon.

danville is at 79 degrees and 72 in hayward for the peninsula 64 degrees. in half moon bay. palo alto at 74. with some mid-70s for the north you bay, even some upper 70s for santa rosa and napa. as we get started this morning, we have some cloudy skies, but even though we do have some clouds now don't forget the sunglasses. that clearing by late morning and it will be a very nice afternoon. you'll be comfortable with long sleeves on today and we do have some slightly cooler temperatures once again for this time of year. as we take a live look outside in sfrap san fran temperatures if the low 60s. we don't see it warming up very much today. we'll stay in the 50s throughout the morning with mostly chowedy skies. if you're going out to the a's game this evening it's going to be cool and turning mostly cloudy with some breezy winds, lower 60s there. going hikinging in the north bay, it will be a great day for

that. you can spend a lot of time outside and feel comfortable all day long, but those winds will start to pick up as we go into this afternoon. san francisco keeps the 60s in the forecast for the next several days. and i don't think we'll see much in the way of any clearing for today but we're going to see a lot more sunshine in the forecast. look at how hot it gets on friday and then we keep those fairly warm temperatures into the weekend. and mike is tracking what's happening as you head out on the road. the nimitz freeway is fine as you come out through oakland. green sensors around the bay. the only crash is that westbound 580 in greenville. the car is over on the shoulder. so we're going to track that as well. we'll get you over to your b.a.r.t. and transit times. things are moving well. there's no node for any reroute. we have great travel times as well. now should things get crowded they probably will. check your waze app on your phone. make sure you're a member of our

team and you select nbc bay area wazers by going to your profile, clicking on the nothimagnifying glass, your name and team. nbc bay area wazers and we'll help each other out throughout the day. new this morning uc berkeley hired a social worker to assess the needs of homeless in people's parks. the "san francisco chronicle" says social workers started last month and paid $92,000 a year, at least nine violent crimes were reported in the park last year. and in june a homeless woman was charged with putting meth in a little boy's mouth. the university actually owns the park and is exploring the option of building student housing there. it's no surprise the homeless population in berkeley overall is on the rise. we looked up the numbers. in 2009 more than 300 sheltered homeless and 371 sheltered according to daily cow sheltered number remains the same today. the number has nearry doubled more than 650.

it is 4:48 and new this morning a fork lift driver is dead after a mishap with his machine on monday. a report from news 24 680. it happened about 3:00 in lafayette at a construction site on avalon avenue. crews say he died after becoming entangled with the fork lift. three teenaged boys in petaluma facinging charges of stealing drugs from another teenager. "the press democrat" reports they were arrested on saturday. police say they arranged to do a drug deal with a 15 ye-year-oldy earlier in the day. they instead robbed the teenager of cocaine and his wallet. the suspects used a replica m s pistol and were later arrested during an unrelated call. officers say they found the fake gun on them. it's 4:49. two people charged with robbinging and killing a san francisco photographer will be back in court friday.

yesterday the duo pleaded not guilty. authorities accuse fantasy decuir and lamont mims of shooting him. mims had been arrested for having a gun while on felly probation. >> based on the facts and the facts are very clear he was a felon arrested with guns and he should not have been allowed on the streets of san francisco. >> the pair will be back in court on friday. new this morning a nevada man is in jail for a street fight being treated as a hate crime. it happened sunday about 8:00 a.m. on sun parkway and leafwood drive. the suspect allegedly accused a hispanic man from stealing from his car. he spit if his face and called

forecast coming up. new this morning children who don't get enough sleep could have a higher risk of developing diabetes. >> a british study showed kids who get one less hour of sleep weighed more and higher levels of blood glucose. increasinging slope time by just a half hour could lower the risk of type 2 diabetes later in life. more details now, state lawmakers in the assembly considering a bill that would give students more time to sleep. the state senate approved the bill 328 in may. it delays school start times until after 8:30 in the morning. no word on when the assembly will vote on the bill. former governor arnold schwarzenegger wants to do had his part in fighting hate in the united states. on facebook schwarzenegger announced a $100,000 donation to a los angeles-based anti-hate group. the organization named after the nazi hunter who schwarzenegger called his friend.

welcome back. a colorful shot taken outside in san francisco this morning. the lights illuminated, a little mist in the air. good morning to you. thanks for joining us. i'm laura garcia-cannon. >> and i'm scott mcgrew. let's get started with your weather and you said a cooldown. >> it feels cooler to us because we've been able to cool the house down, too, and throughout the day our temperatures only warm into the 70s so that's what we're in for again today and as you get the kids ready maybe for the second day of school it will start out with some temperatures in the 60s and cloudy skies. it will clear and start to cool. a comfortable day as they get out of school. a look at high temperatures in
