san carlos. in san francisco, 70 in the mission district and the north bay reaching up to 83 in novato. we'll talk more about the numbers and the high humidity and the feeling as you step out the door. mike starts us out with serious news in the north bay. >> a tragedy. someone drove off the roadway early this morning, drove off the off ramp and went into a tree, it sounds like, eastbound 80 at pittman is closed and will be closed possibly for another hour or so. the coroner is on scene doing the investigation. this affects only the off ramp from eastbound 80. folks will have to go a couple miles and loop around. the rest of the traffic flow is all right coming into the area. fair field and over to the bridge and the benicia bridge. we were following a crash in berkeley that just cleared as well. back to you. thank you very much. breaking news statewide. an amber alert is in effect. a missing child from the central

coast. authorities searching for 9-year-old daniel was abducted from santa maria early this morning. he has brown hair, brown eyes, 4'5" weighing about 90 pounds last seen wearing blue jeans. the amber alert says he was abducted by 48-year-old constantine who was armed and dangerous. the relationship is not clear yet. police say the suspect was last seen driving a blue volkswagen golf with license plate number 7 jgg 242. police are keeping a close watch on freeways and the airports. they believe the suspect is a flight risk and could be trying to head to russia. we'll continue to bring you the very latest as soon as we get it. breaking news out of pennsylvania. more than 40 hurt after two high-speed commuter trains collided early this morning west of philadelphia. authorities say one of the trains was heading into a

station in upper darby when it hit a parked, unoccupied train. everyone is expected to survive. train service is already back up and running. an investigation is under way to find out how this happened. 4:33 and just in minutes ago the commander of the pacific fleet says more remains of navy sailors have been found in the compartment of the "uss john mccain." the search has been under way for ten missing sailors after their navy destroyer collided with a tanker. they are ordering a safety inspection of the entire fleet. the collision was the second involving a ship from the navy in two months. and happening today here at home preparing for a showdown. state and city leaders are coming together in berkeley ahead of the alt-right rally. >> pete suratos joins us with a message they're expected to give to the protesters. good morning, pete. >> reporter: good morning to you, laura and marcus. in a matter of hours a group of

those east bay leaders providing a group condemnation for that proposed rally set to take place here in berkeley, and that's all going to take place at about 9:00 a.m. here on the steps of city hall but the mayor of berkeley made it clear he doesn't plan on turning away protesters as long as they remain peaceful. >> we stand for free speech. we're the birthplace of the free speech movement and we can't dictate based that. >> reporter: now the leaders which will include congresswoman barbara lee and the mayor you heard there feel they need to speak out against this no to marxism set for sunday especially in light of those events that took place in charlottesville. it does not appear this rally is connected to the organizers of the unite the right rally that took place in charlottesville but leaders are still concerned about potential violence when you consider previous rallies in berkeley where fights broke out.

i want to point out the rally is not permitted by the city but still leaders suggest that folks stay away from mlk park where the rally is supposed to take place. telling folks to stay away just to be on the safe side. now i did get a chance to look at the organizers' facebook page and as of this morning it looks like 306 people are interested in going but the news conference with a number of statewide leaders as well as local city leaders in the east bay will take place at 9:00 a.m. here in berkeley. we're live in berkeley, pete suratos for "today in the bay." >> all right, thanks, pete. all new this morning we're just getting our first look at an audit of levi's stadium finances showing they owe $2 million to the city including money from public safety costs and parking fees. bob redell is looking through the report and will be speaking with the mayor in minutes. he'll have a live report with the mayor's reaction coming up at 5:30. and 4:35, happening today the suspect accused in the

shooting and killing of an off-duty oakland firefighter is expected to be arraigned. we brought you that breaking news of that shooting last thursday right here on "today in the bay." the suspected gunman oliver juneau has been charged with murder and attempted murder. he's accused of shooting 30-year-old jake walter and injuring another firefighter. this all happened in japantown. walter died from his injuries. the second firefighter is in stable condition. 4:36. not in our backyard is what many san jose residents are saying about tiny homes for the homeless. a community meeting was held in south san jose, many voicing their displeasure for the proposed tiny home plan which would be used as traditional housing. the plan for an empty field at monterey road. last night's testimony will be presented to the full city council next tuesday. 4:36. happening today we're expecting to find out b.a.r.t.'s extension into the south bay is coming along. santa clara valley transportation authority will be giving an update happening at

good morning. i'm landon dowdy live at cnbc world headquarters. today's top business headlines. wall street is poised to open higher this morning. markets were mixed as investors remain cautious amid geopolitical tensions and turmoil in washington. the dow is at a small gain to end a two-day skid but the nasdaq fell for a third straight session. the dow rising 29 points to 21,703. the nasdaq to 6213. google may have an answer to apple's air pod. it reports the company is working on wireless headphones that would use google assistant to augment physical controls. they would let you hear and reply to notifications instead of having to type out a response on your phone. and google could have them ready by the annual hardware event this fall. and walmart is expanding its grocery delivery service which it's been testing since 2013

using uber and lyft in denver and phoenix since last year. the service is available in san francisco and san jose. you can now order from walmart.com and have your items delivered in dallas and orlando. so when you buy groceries online, personal shoppers grab your items, they scan them a. >> maybe it's coming here soon. >> thanks, landon. and just how green is california? we're expecting to find out that answer today. the nonprofit group next ten will be releasing the report titled california green innovation index that tracks the department of renewable energy sources and green technology. we did some digging overnight. last year 20% of energy from renewable sources up 12% since 2009. total greenhouse gas emissions fell 0.6%. what does it mean for your wallet? the average monthly electricity bill was down 20% in 2016.

gave us a few sprinkles yesterday evening. now we are still tracking the rain across the sierra and rolling into parts of the central valley and we can see that moving into parts of solano, sonoma as we are going to see that rain moving off further to the west. as we step out it is 64 degrees in the peninsula and the south bay and you feel the humidity, you see the clouds overhead. we're seeing that also in san francisco with the temperature at 59 degrees and the seven-day forecast is up at the bottom of the screen. you'll see we will have slightly warmer air in the forecast over the next couple of days. we are now going to see those high temperatures today up to 88 degrees in concord. san jose up to 82 degrees there. as you're looking out the window, getting ready starting out for this tuesday morning, make sure you grab the sunglasses. it will be a mostly sunny day by late morning, early afternoon, and also a good day for some

short sleeves as those temperatures will be slightly warmer today than the past couple of days. and then as we look at the seven-day forecast, we'll be in the upper 60s in san francisco. and then look at the weekend. looks pretty nice. more of the same weather continuing with clouds and then seeing the sun breaking out during the afternoon. you'll notice humidity today could spark off isolated showers, possibly a few thunderstorms. we're heading into the 90s for the end of the week into the weekend. we're also making plans for a very hot weekend where you have to find somewhere cool to relax. now, mike, you're tracking a crash in sunol? >> sunol may be one of the cooler places. we'll watch your forecast. we see the speed sensors looking great. southbound 680 we had a crash that happened a couple hours ago but it's still on the chp report. sounds like a car went up on the

and the health department would be held to higher standards when it comes to reporting that data. another would require school districts to test their water for lead and fix any contamination. in flint the cdc says 5% of kids under age 6 had elevated lead levels. we investigated overnight and numbers are comparable or higher. 7.5% of kids under 6 had elevated lead levels in oakland. more than 4% tested positive in san francisco's mission district. alum rock tested at 3%. the latest numbers from the state health department are from 2012. new this morning president trump signed a bill to help speed up dna. it was sponsored by senator dianne feinstein who requires police agencies to use new technologies that can process dna samples in 90 minutes or less. that new testing can happen at

the time of the suspect's arrest. an east bay state senator is introducing a bill that will treat crimes as hate crimes. groups protesting against white nationalists. skinner says that's a loophole in the current law. she says the changes would allow full prosecution of groups pushing hate speech. this is in response to the protest in charlottesville. and california senator harris wants a hearing on white nationalists. harris along with several democratic senators are pushing for the senate homeland security committee for hearings. harris says it's important to examine the root causes to understand the threat we face. women's equality day is this saturday. nancy pelosi is kicking off the festivities today holding a news

conference this morning in san francisco. she is expected to launch the agenda titled a better deal, better job, better wages, better future. this is happening at 10:30. 4:51. in napa county a crucial meeting about how the county is changing its voting practices. starting next june ballots will be mailed out to every voter and they'll have to have new drop why have locations as well. voters will be able to pass the ballot at any polling location in the county. tonight's meeting on how the changes will impact minority voters. happening today, belmont looking at its housing impact fees, fees paid for new construction. they will consider whether it is enough or if changes should be made. belmont, along with the rest of san mateo county, is experiencing growth. overnight we decided to investigate just how much growth is expected. belmont's population expected to

embezzling more than a million dollars from the school. kathleen mecca has agreed to the founder of mill valley school has pled guilty to embezzling more than a million dollars. she will spend one year in marin county jail followed by three years under mandatory supervision. and at 4:55 this morning, future construction right next to the tech museum kicks into high gear. >> the city council will develop a mixed use office, hotel and residential palace.
