rallies stated that he was hispanic. >> this is video from overnight at uc berkeley, the tensions boiling over when a liberal group known as by any means necessary refuses to allow two conservative groups known as the college republicans and berkeley patriots into their planning meeting in the led to an altercation with police stepping in to break things up. now the liberal group is planning to acontinued and, quote unquote, shut down the patriot prayer rally in san francisco on saturday as well as the rally in berkeley on sunday claiming they're both white supremacists events. but the conservative groups claims that's not the case saying this is all about freedom of speech. now the rallies are become a cause for concern following those white nationalists rallies in charlottesville. but organizers for both rallies from denounced white nationalists groups. the organizer of that berkeley event telling me earlier this week that she denounces those white supremacists groups and says they're not welcome at the sunday rally. but as for this morning, grurpz

to see some nice comfortable weather as we go through the day with high temperatures in the south bay reaching up to 82 degrees in milpitas as you head to check that lottery ticket and we're going to be up to 85 degrees in gilroy. for the east bay, we're looking at some upper 80s, even a few lower 90s but not as many as yesterday. so a touch cooler, more broozy. hayward up to 75 degrees and 76 degrees in san carlos. san francisco on the embarcadero we'll see a high there of 64 degrees, little bit of sunshine today and the north bay up to 84 degrees. in know vad doe, santa rosa will be up to 83. we'll talk about today's temperature trend for fremont coming up and vianey has a look at how the roads are moving early this morning. i've been showing awe i live cam of 880 and oakland because we've seeing a lot of traffic build up in that area and no speed sensors are picking up major slowing which means it's a lot of traffic but at least it's moving. but chp is reporting what looks

it's 5:14 on your thursday morning. a cloudy start as we take a live look outside in fremont and at least there we have some clear visibility. our temperatures warming up today, starting out in the upper 60s by 10:00 and then some mid-70s lunchtime outside indeed. now we'll see those highs reaching up to 81 degrees and a hot weekend ahead. we'll talk about the heatup coming up in five minutes. and we are starting to see some slowing in oakland along 880 and this could be because chp is reporting what looks like maybe some debris in a couple of lanes along northbound 880. as of right now it looks like could possibly be metal but aside from that no major

accidents to report. tense footage from fwhart morning, passengers are seen jump into act to warn a train operator of a man out there on the tracks. people eventually here you see them waving their arms, it happened monday afternoon at the civic center station. cell phone video shows a man actually lying across the track. fortunately the train operator saw the passengers warning, hit that emergency stop button. crisis negotiators stepped in to remove that man safely from the track. 5:15. happening today in san francisco, the state supreme court is expected to rule on a voter approved ballot measure that would speed up executions. proposition 66 was narrowly passed by voters in november. it calls for death pent appeals to be decided within five years of sentencing. right now, it takes a deck kald. opponents say the process takes power away from the courts. supporters say that the will of the voters should be respected. the decision is expected at

degrees so it is going to be cooler than what we are about to have for the next couple of days. in livermore expect a high of 86 degrees, and 83 degrees in napa and santa rosa, san francisco reaching up to 65 degrees. as we go through the day in oakland, still some clouds at 8:00 and the temperature at 60 degrees, noontime 63 degrees. we're going to stay in the 60s today and it's going to be breezy as well. we'll have a few clouds rolling by at times, but overall looks like a beautiful day there. and for the kids getting ready to head out the door, we do start out with the patchy fog and clouds. you'll have to watch out for those spots with some low visibility as you walk to school. and then it does start to clear as they're outside for recess, especially for the inland areas. and it will be breezy and comfortable as they head home from school so you can leave the windows down as you go pick them up in the pickup line. and sonoma, nap april valleys it willing a great day to get out there, warming up in afternoon

into the mid-80s. san francisco stays in the 60 for the next three days and then some low 70s with a little bit more sunshine and for the inland areas really starting to heat up, we'll have several days of temperatures in the 90s and that really kicks in on saturday. as we head over to vianey now, any issues on the roads? >> no. but we are definitely starting to see a lot more cars bidding up on the roads which means you may want to head out know and get an early start like those guys are out and on the go. right now take a look at our wide map we can see there is some slight slowing in the south bay and then of course we can expect to see some slowing in the oakland area. and that's because i've been reporting chp did say it looks like there's some debris out on the road along whip will road northbound 880 and it looks like it may be some metal that has fallen out of a truck. they're working to clear that out so hopefully people can steer clear of that. bridge drive times westbound 80 towards the bay bridge it ten minutes.

student may face charges - for allegedly attacking his teacher du 5:25 and new this morning a wisconsin student may face charges for allegedly attacking his teacher during class. we want to warn thank you video could be disturbing, cell phone video right here appears to show that incident. first you sthee student coming up punching and pushing the south division high school teacher. as the teacher walks away, the student punches him in the face, knocks him down and continues ton punch that teacher. police say that they arrested the student at the school. students say the teacher was well liked. >> he mostly just, like, if

good thursday morning to you, 5:30 this morning as we take a live look at the golden gate bridge there. you can see commuters on the road ready to get their day started and we're here to help you along the way. good morning and thanks for join s i'm markus washington. >> i'm laura garcia-cannon. we were just discussing it's national waffle day. there's a day for everything. we know it's going to be a good day across the bay area weatherwise. >> it is starting out with some clouds and fog and then we'll see all of that clearing out for a very nice day reaching into the low 80s for the south bay. oakland up to 69 degrees and 83 for the high in napa. san francisco stays in those mid-60s. we'll have more 60s in the forecast over the next several days, low 70s for the end of the weekend into the start of the

next week. inland areas really heating up, up to 97 degrees on sunday. so i'll talk just about the weekend coming up in about seven minutes. vianey takes us out there on the roadways with aview few problem spots. we've got a couple areas that are seeing slowing but when it comes to traffic this is what we like to see on our maps. we like to see nice and green, no major accidents on the road. chp isn't reporting many of out there which is always great. let's take a quick check of the south bay drive time. 101 to highway 85, 22 minutes. 101 to 85, eight minutes. smooth chute in the south bay. back to you. 5:30 run 1, happening today the santa clara stadium authority is expected to meet. it comes amid escalating tensions with the 49ers. the city says the team owes them nearly $2 million for running levi stadium. it's a story today in the bob redell has brought us as well on tuesday morning. so what can we expect from this

meeting today, bob? >> reporter: good morning, the santa clara mayor told us earlier this week alt that at tonight's meeting she expects the stadium authority out to. 49ers on notice to pay that up money or face serious legal action. the city says that an audit it commissioned and that was finalized earlier this week shows that the 49 easy owes the city nearly $2 million for running the stadium. the city is also demanding that the team release documents related to nonnfl events at the stadium. this is documents that the team withheld during the audit. the 9ers say the audit is riddled with errors. the team also accuses the city of wasting $200,000 on this audit. this audit that discovered santa clara failed to bill the nineers for $115,000 in stadium-related expense dollars. yesterday the 49ers economy directed us to a mercury news editorial which calls on the city to get its house in order and that reasonable people should be able to resolve the

differences between both sides. the city acknowledged tuesday that it does need to did a better job managing levi's that's one reason they hired a new city manager who the mayor says has experience managing large stadiums. reporting live in santa clair are, bob redell. thanks for the latest there. new this morning, more reports of crime at bart. police say someone broke into three vehicles parked in west dublin station in broad daylight. we reached out to bart police to see what was taken. within the past hour they tell us that the thieves took a flashlight from one car, a gym bag from the second, they took nothing from the third car, all three had broken windows. this morning a new report says more people are dying while riding their bicycles. researchers say deaths rose by more than 12% in twist, that trants lates to 818 bike deaths on u.s. roadways which is the highest number since 1995. car crashes are the main cause. overnight we checked the numbers in california. a government report says 129

bicycleists died in 2015. well, 5:33. also new this morning, keeping drinking water safe. state lawmakers are debate a new tax that could do just that. >> kris sanchez live at the lexington reservoir with a closer look at that bill that could affect us all. good morning, chris. >> joo. >> goode morning to you. the law makers that back this are banking on the fact that a clean and reliable water sly will be worth about a buck a family a month. that's what they're hoping for. the drinking water tax would essentially create permanent water efficiency standards, would minimize waste and clean up contaminated water supplies. lawmakers say it's time for californians to start thinking about water the same way that we think of water -- or rather power and gas. and that we count on emergency conservation efforts instead of having permanent ones like we did during the recent drought. when the rains start we should have ways to store that water,

the lawmakers say. and at this point water tax is sbipd environmentists and farmers but opposed by the people that would be forced to collect the tax and also opposed by taxpayers who say california should already have money set aside for all of this. right now, the bill is in an appropriations committee and there's about a week for them to decide whether it's ready for prime time, that say full adem e semably vote. the nbc bay area investigative unit has done expensive reporting on contaminated water supplies, particularly in the central valley. i'm going to link to you those stories through my facebook page at lexington reservoir, kris sanchez, today in the bay. happening today, a new airline has begun flying out of sonoma county's airport. sun county airlines will begin plieg out of schultz airport in minneapolis to minneapolis, st. paul airport. there will be one round trip flight week lig for the next 15 weebz. they have been adding new flights regularly.

we did some digging overnight and more and more people are using the airport. in june of 2017, more than 40,000 passengers came through. in june of 2016, that number was 35,000. so far this year passenger traffic support 19% compared to the same period of time last year. and it is 5:36 and you know it's going to be a pretty good thursday when i have good news to bring from the roads because typically i'm not the one who brings the best news in terms of the traffic. however, we do have something that popped up in the south bay. it looks like there may just be a fender bender along 101 but as of that, majority of the area is seeing nice conditions, very nice smooth flowing traffic. so let's get a quick check of the east bay because westbound 80 towards bay bridge about 16 minutes. westbound 580 from 2 to the bay bridge 15 minutes. and northbound ate eight about 13 minutes. even the east bay is looking decent in terms of those drive times. a quick check of those bring drive times right now.

it looks like we're not seeing a lot of stop and go and look at the san mateo bridge. had is what we would like for it to look like on a daily basis but if you normally take any of our bridges you know that it quickly becomes stop and go once that 6:007:00 a.m. hour sets in. i know a lot of people are ready for the weekend. >> it's friday eve around here. it's going to be a great weekend. today it feels nice across the bay area. the weekend it's going to be hot inland you'll want to pick somewhere that will be nice and cool or if you like the holt weather take a dip in the pool. on saturday or the bay 85 degrees, the coast at 70 degrees, and some of the valleys up to 93 degrees. on sunday even hotter, up to 97 for the valleys, 86 for the bay, and the coast at 69 degrees. we have so many events going on, trying to fit them all in. so let's start out with the china town street festival in oakland on saturday and sunday from 10:00 to 5:00 it will be perfect. in oakland we're only going to see those highs reaching into the mid-70s throughout the day.

and san jose today has their first home game the season, this saturday it is going to be hot out there at spartan stadium, 90 degrees, so brieng a hat and sunscreen, drink lots of water. it cools down nicely as we go into the evening. on sunday you may be wrapping up your weekend with the silicon valley pride festival, it will be from 10:00 with the parade and then a festival going on throughout the day with our temperatures reaching into the mid-80s there. heading to napa valley this weekend, look at these temperatures. 97 degrees on sunday so make sure you stay cool, try to stay in a place that's air-conditioned. if you're going to the sierra, here's a look at squaw valley and what to expect. we will have some sunshine, temperatures in the mid-70 tomorrow, saturday and sunday a nice day go for a little swim in the pool or take a dip in the lake. now we're going to see those highs in the mid-80s and squaw valley and looking at some great

in morgan hill the number increased by nearly 400% between 2015 and this year. city leaders say the increase might seem huge and the increase may be because it is the first year they were able to accurately count the number of homeless children. the city's housing team will be meeting with the city council to talk about ways to address that problem. also happening today, celebrating women's equality in the south bay. the commission on the status of women and office fs women's policy will honor women today in santa clara county. part of women's equality day luncheon. more than 300 local leaders will meet and talk about the challenges and needs of women. start at 11:30 this morning. 5:57 as the new school year gets into full swing you might notice a lot of students carrying laptops instead of books. a lot of students end up carrying around seven or eight textbooks which can be a negative impact on the kids's back. laptops can lessen the load but experts say there are other
