up, stocking up. >>water, canned goods, fruit. >>reporter: and gassing up. >> i'm expecting it to be kind of crazy. >> reporter: oil companies scram many lk. experts say it could lead to higher prices at the pump. fema pre positions supplies. the lumbering storm expected to slam into the shore as a category 3 hurricane. with winds of up to 130 miles an hour bringing with it a life threatening storm surge of up to 12 feet. and then torrential rain through the weekend dumping as much as two feet. harvey would be the first hurricane to make land fall in texas since ike in 2008. in louisiana where hurricane katrina devastated new orleans 12 years ago next week, memories are raw and concerns high.

roller coaster, an amusement park on a pier. it's going to be a quiet place. they're deeply worried about the flooding because once this hurricane hits land, it's supposed to stall and rain heavily for days. now we're here in galveston with is a narrow island community. they know what a hurricane can do here. this area was hit very hard by hurricane ike in 2008. there was a lot of damage. there was a lot of flooding at that time. so they are taking this very seriously with both mandatory and voluntary evacuations. some transit services even offering free bus rides to those who want to move further inland. who want to move further inland. >> thank you very much. >> thank you very much. >> dylan is in forral right now. >> dylan is in forral right now. >> as it storm could move in overnight at the time of low tide. that could help alleviate some of the most dangerous storm

surge, but we're still going to see that next high tide around 8:00 saturday morning. that could create some coastal flooding naturally. winds up to 110 miles per hour. this is a category 2 hurricane. the and we are looking at that life threatening storm surge devastating flooding because of the speed. very, very slowly once it makes its way on shore. and we also have the threat of damaging winds and possible tornados today as this storm continues to whip its way towards the shore. looking at the forecast of a category 3 storm making landfall around 1:00 a.m. saturday morning. watch as it meanders along eastern texas. wednesday at 1:00 not morning. so we do have flash flood watches in effect for a good chunk of texas. we're looking at a wide spread 15 to 20 inches of rain but some areas could end up with 35 inches of rainfall. this is a very low-lying area. that's why we're expecting the

painful splits while they begged him to stop. lucy is on the story for us. lucy, good morning. >> reporter: good morning. we're outside of the denver police headquarters. authorities are investigating those aggressive coaching tactics. fresh footage emerging of more teens in pain. colorado cheer leading controversy now in the national spotlight. >> this morning, there is growing outrage as new cell phone video shot by one of the cheerleaders and shared with nbc affiliate k usa showed teenage girls being pushed to their limits and beyond. >> stop moving. coach williams now on leave along with instant coach and three administrators is seen here forcing another cheerleader into a painful split. she is not in the video, but said she attended camp with coach williams. >> when i have a coach i look up to him. i thought it was a good thing.

cheerleaders, but asked the girls to keep them under wraps. >> trump administratiit's so ha joined by dylan. another check of the weather. we talk about harvey. >> category two hurricane right now. rain is already making its way on shore from corpus christi up to houston. brownsville seeing some rain right now. in and out of pockets of really heavy rain from here on out. winds at 110-mile-per-hour. moving to the northwest and as it does so, pushing all of this water on shore. that's where the storm surge comes to play. we could see a storm surge up to about 5-7 feet from port mansfield to padres island. we are looking at largest storm surge. 6-12 feet possible and lesser amounts as you work your way up the coast of texas and into louisiana where we could see a 1-3 foot storm surge. that could create dangerous coastal flooding in addition to
