rosa with highs in the south bay reaching to the mid-80s. upper 80s, a few low 90s, oakland, 77. peninsula up to 82, palo alto, low 70s in san francisco and the north bay reaching into the low to mid-80s. we'll talk about this and a chance of showers in the forecast coming up in a few minutes. mike is tracking two freeway closures. >> we had an active couple hours. specifically two spots. the dublin interchange, traffic moving with a traffic break. traffic held. we'll show you the map. the connecter was close. the k-rail, you can see the speeds recovering up toward the dublin interchange. all lanes reopened as a connecter. we saw the traffic clear. another one up in the north. this was a deadly crash involving a motorcycle. it did clear in the last ten minutes as well. highway 37 at 29. all lanes reopened.

if i get other details, i will let you know. so far, back to your standard light traffic. back to you. >> thank you, mike. back to the breaking news mentioned at the top of the show. one person injured after a shooting in richmond after midnight. officers are investigating the shooting at california and 22nd. the victims injure riffs are not life threatening. the man just got off the muni bus when they shot him. the suspects fled in a car. we are heading to the scene and will join us live with a live report on that. now, another breaking story, this time in the south bay where a homicide investigation is under way. >> 680-101 interchange. kris sanchez joins us there. she's been talking to investigators overnight. what is the latest? >> reporter: you can see the

flashing lights here. officers are still here on scene. this is story road, not far from happy park and zoo. the strip mall parking lot is k core donned off. the coroner's van was out here, so we know someone died in the shooting. usually, the coroner is last on scene. for drivers in this area, this is creating detour in the westbound direction. a block to get off story road, then on. traffic is light at this hour. they may only be here the next hour or so. we are going to keep pressing for more on the homicide to see if there is a larger public safety risk or if they know who they are looking for in terms of the suspect. we'll have that for you at 5:30. kris sanchez, today in the bay. >> thank you for that update. breaking now, hurricane irma

continues to gain strength as it barrels through the caribbean. overnight, the most powerful atlantic hurricane ever recorded made its first land fall. we have the first video to show as the storm plowed through the region. the waves crashed along the shore. the national weather service says the eye of the hurricane passed over barbuda. heavy rain and howling winds struck the island of antigua. radio and phone communications are down. in the meantime, in florida, people are preparing for the worst. right now, a race against time for supplies. people are told to leave the florida keys as soon as possible. >> 4:34. new this morning, richmond police are reminding people to be careful meeting people online. a robbery suspect is now behind bars. the victim came to the triangle

neighborhood to give an estimate for a job. the man he was meeting robbed him at gunpoint. the suspect tried to shoot the victim, but the gun was jammed. those are the pictures of the gun. the suspect fled, but police eventually caught him. today, federal agents will testify in a pretrial shooting. the judge overseeing it made several rulings. among them, what questions lawyers can and cannot ask the agent. simon was shot on pier 14 two years ago. jose inez garcia is accused of killing her with the agent's gun. continuing coverage on the brush fire burning in gilroy. they continue to make progress on the flames. it's about 45% contained. 100 acres burned since saturday night.

good wednesday morning to you as we take a live look out san francisco. a foggy morning there as we get ready to get on our way. definitely going to be a warmer day throughout the area. >> nicer in our neck of the woods. we continue to follow this breaking news. the monster category 5 hurricane in the atlantic is churning there. hurricane irma. we are getting video from inside the eyewall where the storm made land fall in st. martin. battered boats, flooded streets. so much damage and so much to go through. here are pictures from inside a hotel as well. they tried to walk through the area, you can see flooded areas, a lot of damage there.

for hours, communication and images from the islands were cut off from the world just because of the storm's strength. because the island is in the eye of the storm, people there are experiencing a quick break right now. hurricane force winds will begin once again once the eye has passed. it will be eerie for the folks with the calm in the storm there. >> right. certainly, in our neck of the woods, nothing like that. >> we have heard the estimates for islands like that, if they get a category five, it may take six months to restore the power there. this is goupg to be a long thing. >> they rely on tourism. >> absolutely. that is not happening for a long time. they will be rebuilding from that. as we look at this very powerful storm, the eye is so large, you may have an hour or two on some of the islands where you are feeling calm conditions. look up, you can see the sunshine. you know that there's more to come.

in fact, on the other side of that hurricane, is when you get the most intense wind and rain. still a lot to go through as the wind speeds are at 185 miles an hour with higher gusts. this will continue on over some very warm water as a category 5 as it moves closer to puerto rico on thursday. then it continues toward cuba, the bahamas and heim mee. the florida keys have been evacuated. we are expecting it to move into that area on sunday as a category 4 hurricane. this looks like the track as of right now. this will not be the exact path. it's a very large area that will be affected by the hurricane. behind that, we have tropical storm jose. right now, wind speeds are about 60 miles an hour. we expect this one to become a hurricane. this may move very close to some of the same islands that have been affected by irma. this will be curving to the

north and should not affect many more areas. as we step out here across the bay area this morning, our temperatures are in the lower 60s, heading into the mid-80s. for many inland valleys, oakland up to 77, san francisco at 73 degrees. getting ready this morning, a great day for something that keeps you cool. you may need a jacket to start out this morning, a little bit cooler, then as we go through the day, something to cool you off once those temperatures make it to the upper 80s. a great day for the sunglasses and sandals. as we head into the next several days, the weather stays the same as you check out the seven day forecast at the bottom of the screen in half-moon bay, temperatures reaching low 70s. we will still have the clouds and the fog throughout much of the day. then, as we head into tomorrow, there will be a slight chance of rain. we'll be able to see the showers offshore today. mostly cloudy skies near the coast. inland will be sunny.

early tomorrow morning, we see spotty, light rain moving in. a few of those pockets may be heavier, but a system moving through that could bring us a few showers for tomorrow, especially during the early part of the day. after that, it drys out. the temperatures warm up this weekend. temperatures mid-70s. for the inland areas, humid. showers tomorrow and then a dry and warm weekend ahead. heading over to mike, the freeways are looking good right now? >> looking good right now. we want to point out, off 680 is where kris sanchez continues to follow the crime scene. a block off the freeway a bit longer. again, the investigation is over there. over here, i did see, as we ran through the set, a slow in southbound 85 around saratoga. there is a disabled vehicle reported. i want to zoom in here but clearly we have seen it change to green. an evening drive around the bay.

the waves as you look toward our system, coming through the north bay, san rafael, easy, direct route here over the bridge and down 19th. if you go across the bridge and back across the bay bridge, we have just a couple minutes longer. that's a light drive. make sure you check your way before you leave because that will help you know what might be waiting for you on the roadways and perhaps a better route than you thought of. you can get information from team members. back to you. >> thanks, mike. 4:49. developing news on the escalating tensions with north korea. vladimir putin called for talks with the regime and says sanctions are not the solution. putin made the remarks during a meeting with the south korean president today. this comes after north korea detonated a hydrogen bomb.

if the missile is fired south toward the u.s. territory of guam, the u.s. might shoot it down, which could prompt a widespread counter attack. terrifying moments on board a small boat in central, missouri. did you see that there? the back of the boat, a woman and dog thrown into the air. it happened at a marina last week. fortunately, everyone expected to be okay. the fire was extinguished shortly after the explosion. there's no word on why it happened. caught on camera, a daring escape. a texas woman that you see here arrested for shoplifting. she was handcuffed, put in back of the officer's car. she didn't stay there long. she flips out of the handcuffs. eventually, she jumps into the driver's seat, then drove on the wrong side of the road, up to 100 miles an hour.

ultimately, the police caught up with her. the search is on for the men seen in this surveillance video as they rush in target with guns pointed at employees, ordering everyone to get on the ground. this happened after midnight when the store was closing and cash collected from the registers. they jumped into a silver colored car and took off. details on a horrific car crash in the central valley. it left five people from the east bay dead. investigators continue to comb the scene trying to identify the remains. it happened 40 miles west of fresno. chp says the suv blew through a stop sign and smashed into a big rig. everyone in the suv, five men were killed. the driver was a 63-year-old man. 4:51 right now. happening today, a new transit facility opens in the north bay. officials say it's the cull
