definitely a much cooler morning. it's in the upper 50s through oakland, san francisco and palo alto. highs today reaching 79. 77 in san jose. oakland 71 and 80 today in napa. we'll talk more about what's ahead this weekend and some things you may want to check out. mike is already tracking the crash on the north bay. >> obviously as you imagine, speed sewn sores moving very well throughout most of the bay. we did find slowing and a crash that blocks one lane right over cornelia road. one lane is blocked southbound towards the split. that's causing slowing coming out of fairfield. pretty far north for most of the drivers. the benicia and carcinas bridge are just fine. at speed heading toward the bay bridge. things are calm aside from the crash in cornelia. a lot happening overnight. back to you. >> breaking news we're following out of london this morning where police are confirming a blast on

a subway train. it is now being treated as a terrorist incident. there are live pictures that we're seeing over parsons green station in southwest london. now, the blast happened during morning rush hour. 18 people have been taken to hospitals with flash burns. take a look at this photo. it was posted on twitter. it shows a bucket on fire and wires protruding out of it. it looks like the bucket was actually in a shopping bag. you can see damage inside the train car. the twitter user who posted the photo says an explosion happened sending a fireball through the train car. here is what a london metropolitan police officer said just a short time ago. >> we now assess that this was a detonation of an i'm pimprovise explosive device. >> president trump reacting on twitter, one tweet saying, quote, loser terrorists must be dealt with in a much tougher manner. the internet is their main

speech week. milo you nop laos will speak on three different days. former white house strategist steve bannon and commentator ann cowell tore will also speak. the story is featured on our front page. >> at 4:35, palo alto police department spending big money on hiring officers from other departments. the "mercury news" reports the department will start offering up to $25,000 bonuses to new bonuses. the catch, the money is only available to experienced officers who come from other agencies. the department is also offering $10,000 bonuses to recent police academy grads. starting salaries range from $100,000 to $119,000 per year. the department is budgeted to have 92 officers. there are currently 71. the palo alto department says nearly every department in the state is short.

comcast business. exclusive details about 1 of 3 suspects in a deadly san francisco shooting. our )investigative unit ) has learned: vo erik ga exclusive details on one of three suspects in a deadly san francisco shooting. eric garcia pinetta was wearing an electric monitor issued by u.s. immigration issues at the time of the killing. he is an undocumented immigrant. sources tell us the 18-year-old was claping asylum in the u.s. saying he was being hounded by ms 13 gang members. thursday, he and two other suspects pleaded not guilty to the deadly august shooting. an additional twist, police say a gun taken during the arrest was directed to an sfpd officers. authorities say the suspects stole it from an officer's patrol car. the police chief says it's too early to know if that officer will be disciplined. >> in this case should this officer be disciplined?

the late est missile launch from north korea, stock futures have recovered this morning. markets in japan closing higher today and south korea recouped early losses. retail sales, manufacturing and consumer sentiment. the dow rising for a fifth straight day yesterday, up 45 points to 22,203. the nasdaq slipping 31 to 6,429. apple has started taking pre orders for the new iphone 8 and 8 plus today. at&t has a few options for customers including a buy one get one free deal. however, there is a catch. you must also sign up for at&t's next monthly payment plan and already have or sign up for directv or u-verse. if you just want one of the phones, at&t is offering a 32

little cool to start. we're even feeling upper 40s right now as we look at the north bay. you almost need to bundle up. it does have a fall-like feel to the air. really exciting. look how much cooler now it is compared to 24 hours ago. check that out. santa rosa, you walk out the door and it's 12 degrees cooler than yesterday at this time. today in san jose we'll keep those temperatures that we had yesterday looking at upper 70s and for the east bay. 80 in walnut creek, 74 in hayward and 74 in san mateo. north bay looking at upper 60s in san francisco and 81 in novato. santa rosa expect a high of 78 degrees. you can get a look at that seven-day forecast at the bottom of your screen showing more nice weather on the way. if you're getting dressed this morning, starting out with some short sleeves and also pants to stay comfortable throughout the day. now you may also want to grab a jacket if you get cold easily

like i do. it will be a very nice afternoon. we're keeping you up to date on what's happening for our friends and family on the east coast. here is tropical storm jose and it's still just wandering out there. it's been there for at least a week. over the next several days it is expected to strengthen possibly into a category 1 hurricane. we'll be watching this for the new england area as well as parts of the upper atlantic coast. so something that we will have to continue to monitor over the next several days. now, as we get a look at our weather in san francisco, upper 60s for the next three days, and then as the cold front moves in from the north, some showers will bring in cooler temperatures, but it looks like a lot of that rain stays north of us. for the inland areas it's going to be in the upper 70s today, low 80s tomorrow. that will be the warmest day in the forecast before it cools off once again. as we head over to mike, a new crash in the south bay. >> doesn't sound like a major issue, but there are a few things out that.

early morning we've got to know exactly what's going on out here. west 237 at north first is it. we a smooth flow of traffic. the crash may be blocking one lane but it sounds like everything got off to the right shoulder without injuries. chp will arrive in a few minutes. no slowing on the sensors there, sensors back at speed for north 85 approaching 280. disabled vehicle should be on the shoulder as well. a few things going on for the south bay. very light commute there and on the peninsula. 580 through castro valley, that's completely clear this morning. good stuff. all green coming through the upper east shore. also for the north bay out of san rafael. one issue over here, the crash still active southbound. 880 at the cornelia junction. the slowing we saw has cleared, so they may have cleared up that second lane. i'll let you know if there's anything to worry about. fairfield moving well. it is 4:48 right now. happening today, united nations

security council members will meet to discuss north korea's latest missile test. diplomats say the u.s. and japan requested the u.n. convene after north korea fired that missile over japan for the second time in just two weeks. this is further escalating tensions following north korea's testing of what many believe was a hydrogen bomb. the security council ramped up angss on north korea monday including a cap on ill imports. new this morning, lieutenant governor gavin newsom is far ahead in nextier's race for governor among those who have an option. a new poll by uc berkeley this morning, 26% of likely voters support newsom, a democrat. second place is san diego businessman and republican john cox with 11%. former l.a. marianne tonio villaraigosa is in third place with 10%. still a large number of voters, 37%, who are undecided.

the primary will be next june. school sexual assault guidelines will become law in california. state lawmakers voted thursday to make it the law to require any schools who find any accused students, if more than half of the evidence points to their guilt. the law will require that trained employees handle the cases. the registration says it will roll back similar federal guidelines that are currently in place so lawmakers can handle them at the state level. disturbing accusations at a south bay day care. a worker is under arrest after workers say he inappropriately touched a child. the suspect had allegedly touched a 9-year-old child multiple times throughout the summer. police say they're worried there could be more victims. >> the mere fact that he's actively working with children and based on the interview that it occurred at the facility, we want to make certain that no other children become victimized

and immediate response is required. >> police are working with the day care program to determine if there are any other potential victims. a dramatic cell phone theft all caught on camera. the woman in the black t-shirt asked to borrow a man's phone and then jumped into a waiting suv with his cell phone. it happened monday. vincent ing says he tried to grab her but was left with scrapes after being thrown from the car. >> my first instinct was to try to get my phone. i ran after her. i was holding on to her hair and the car was moving, the door shut on me and i was pinched in between the door. >> quite frightening. ing says she loaned the would plan his phone because she seemed to be in distress. police so far have not made any arrests. coming up, a sweet deal. when you can finally get your hands on tickets for the ice cream museum in san francisco. first, happening now, harvard university has rescinded
