8:36 am
we see that a predator is getting some kind of justice. it's inspiring. >> is it because ashley judd led the charge and you felt comfortable or safe to come out? >> seeing her do it was inspiring. and if we don't speak out, we enable this man to continue to do this for decades. he shouldn't be doing it. >> harvey weinstein denies the allegations of nonconsensual sex. and we're seeing another director coming out, a lot more women coming out. it's beyond just this one area. >> i'm sure it's in every business that women have to deal with this. in the past, we felt we couldn't speak out. we were afraid of losing our jobs. but we're saying we deserve to be treated better. and the workplace should be a better place to be. you play a character named judalon smyth. >> i was the mistress of the therapist.

8:38 am
>> in real life, he told his wife that she was a patient. and he was a sex therapist, which was disturbing. he had done it in the past with a babysitter and assistant. they were living in the maids room, while he was having an affair with them. he was an abusive person, actually. >> preparing for the role of this person, did you meet her? did you see interviews? how did you figure out how to play her properly? >> i didn't get to meet her. there was a lot of research. she did two different diane sawyer specials i can watch. i got to see her love poetry that they sent to each other. it was interesting. yeah. >> you're also directing. >> yes. >> another thing that seems to light you up. tell me a little about it. >> ironically, i did a movie about sexism in hollywood, and sexual harassment is a theme of it. it's a sex comedy. one of the backdrops is being a woman in hollywood and dealing with sexism. it's timely, i guess. >> did that happen to come up at this time? >> it's something that women are dealing with for a long time. and it's finally exploding.
