traveling northbound. that's the first crash and car fire. it just cleared from this portion of the bay. another crash, a deadly crash in santa rosa that i'm also tracking, highway 101 and 12. that connecter is currently closed and two lanes traveling northbound. the second deadly crash this morning, this in santa rosa. traffic is light in the area. the traffic flows smoothly there in san francisco. this is not a happy way to start the day, but an important note. just getting back on the roadway in santa rosa. closer to the golden gate bridge, things are moving smoothly. what do you have? >> this morning, as you start out, the techls in the mid-60s. in san francisco, well, that's the warmest spot we had on the map. it's 52 now in fairfield. 61 degrees in san jose and palo alto. morgan hill, 57 degrees. a look at today's high temperatures will be upper 80s

to low 90s. still a really warm day. i don't think we'll be setting anymore records. we'll talk about the records we broke yesterday in a few minutes. marcus and laura? >> an oakland police officer is in the hospital. a driver hit the officer about 9:00 near bancroft and 98th in oakland. this morning, we have video showing officers at the scene investigating. police say two officers were running after a suspect when a woman hit one of the officers with her car and drove away. they say they are not sure if she was involved with that suspect or happened to be going by. they are looking for a black lexus with a broken windshield. the officer is in stable condition at the hospital. a disturbing crime at a bay area campus. a rape at stanford. bob redell is live at the campus this morning asking questions.

what do we know so far, bob? >> reporter: good morning to you, laura and marcus. stanford university's department of public safety reports the rape took place on the east side of campus, sometime after midnight. this would have been early monday morning, about 48 hours ago. law enforcement says the victim and suspect do know each other and circumstances surrounding the attack, it's not clear officers arrested the suspect. the campus police department is reminding students while in the majority of the assaults, one or more people have been drinking or using drugs. that is not an excuse nor a defense for the assault. sexual assaults on campuses is a big issue in this country. a stanford swimmer sexually assaulted an unconscious woman behind a dumpster. the judge in the case was criticized for sentencing turner

here. looking at san jose, up to 94 degrees. the old record was 90 and livermore, 91 yesterday. that set a new record high. santa rosa and napa, reaching the low 90s, smashing those old records in oakland yesterday, 92 degrees. also, 92 in half-moon bay. we are going to start to have that cooling trend under way. i know we can't wait for that after that blast of heat. we start out this morning in san francisco at 65 degrees. it's 61 in palo alto and san jose. cooler for the inland valleys and livermore. morgan hill, 55 degrees. right now in half-moon bay, it is 23 degrees cooler than yesterday at this time. well, what happened was we had winds rushing over the hills, then down the hills toward half-moon bay. as it goes downhill, it actually warms. so, yesterday morning, we started with temperatures in the lower 80s there. as we look at the high

temperatures for today, we'll be in the upper 80s to low 90s in the south bay. it is still going to be very warm. walnut creek, 93 degrees. san francisco, upper 70s and low 80s there. some upper 80s for the north bay. so, as you are getting dressed this morning, it's still a good day to make sure you break out the summer gear. sunglasses, short sleeves. a good day for the shorts and sandals and the hot weather for the next couple days, then more fall-like for the weekend. if you are heading to santa cruz, another great beach day. by noon, the temperatures will be in the upper 70s. as we look at the seven day forecast for san francisco, we'll be up to 80 degrees today and cooling off over the next several days, in the 60s for the weekend. upper 80s for inland areas. we'll make progress there toward halloween. mike, you are still tracking that deadly crash in the north bay. >> i am.

we talked about the other deadly crash. there were two at the start of the show. it just cleared in fremont. this is still active north 101 at highway 12. we have two lanes blocked on highway 101 north heading up to santa rosa. highway 12, the connector is closed by the activity. it should be cleared by 5:30. that's guessing, based on whatever details chp has been able to give us for a time line. light traffic through the area does not demand a sig-alert. chp says be prepared for the traffic control. over here is slowed down out of the altamont pass. we know we typically see the early start. a little exaggerated mass, the big rig is blocking the slow lanes. it will slow you into livermore. then, look, that keeps things nice and easy through the dublin interchange. traffic flows nice and easily on the roadways. a recovery. a line out of daly city from bart. recovering from a delay there.

i'll gather more details and bring it to you. >> sounds great. thank you, mike. nbc bay area responds to an alameda bicycle who was hit by an uninsured lyft driver. >> he turned to consumer investigator chris chmura for help. >> johan biking the streets of oakland for 30 years. he had never had an accident, until this past june. joe says he was stopped at a red light when the car in front of him began backing up. >> i saw her coming at the last instant and dove to the right as she ployed into my bicycle and pinned it into the back of her car. >> reporter: the driver was working were lyft. she told joe she had a customer waiting, gave him her insurance card and left. according to the card, her policy expired. joe asked lyft to pay to fix the
