a live look outside at san jose... drizzle across bay area welcome to monday morning, and, mist and drizzle out the door. taking a live look outside overlooking downtown san jose. the roadways are slick out there. be careful. we have reports of accidents. good morning, i hope you had a great weekend, i'm laura garcia. >> i'm marcus washington. we have a traffic alert on 101. >> laura confirmed there's it cantivety going on. a look at the map at the bottom of the screen, northbound 101. this appears not on the local, for some reason, they file these crashes in monterey. if you are home, 101 northbound. you should see a lot of slowing despite the fact the icon is covering the sensors there.

before the split, a truck carrying metal debris could not make the tight onramp. the truck is stuck on the onramp. debris across lanes. a lot of metal on the roadways. 15 minutes before a truck can get there to assess what is going on. that is an issue. you are able to take north 85 and 87 or monterey highway. that is there at the bottom of the silicon valley map. another crash at 880, i'll talk more about that crash. we had mist on the roadways. >> that is still going to be what we expect for the rest of the morning. as you get ready to head out the door, it's enough to turn on the windshield wipers and creates slick conditions on bay area roadways. looking at the high temperatures, much cooler. we see the clouds lingering through early afternoon with the highs reaching into the low to

mid-60s with upper 60s in the tri-valley, low 60s for the peninsula. san francisco, you are going to struggle to make it up to 60 degrees and upper 60s in the north bay. more on the forecast in a few minutes. >> thanks, kari. a busy night for the san jose police department, one officer hurt and several arrested after a side show. we have video from three crime scenes. >> kris sanchez is live at the police department with what we know at this point. kris? >> reporter: hi, there. we were just able to confirm that one officer was injured, vehicles impounded and people under arrest. police were not ready to say how many. this is the second sunday in a row the sjpd cracked down on side shows and street raising on city streets. this was the scene. the officer was injured where it was a raw kus night. that was one scene.

officers responded to capital expressway where racers were coming and going into the inand out parking lot. if you have been there, it is a busy stretch of roadway, so plenty of opportunity for things to go sideways there. the biggest number of arrests on capital expressway. again, police are not confirming the number of arrests, but this is dangerous because on city streets things can go wrong and fast. this is video from the sunday before. this one you can see was also quite dangerous. sjpd cracked down on street racing that night as well. we know that crowd did behave a little more violently than the crowd last night. more details for you. we have fresh sound coming from the san jose police lieutenant on the case talking about the danger of the street racing and the side shows. kris sanchez, "today in the bay." >> we look forward to hearing

that interview coming up. 4:33. growing concerns great america had a violent weekend of tlefts and arrests. listen to this. this is cell phone video of a fight and an arrest. reports of multiple fights during the halloween event on saturday. santa coll santa clara police say cell phones were stolen. security didn't do much to stop the chaos. >> they could have at least try to separate them or something, like, scare them away or something like that. do a whistle. >> get back, get back, get back. >> police had extra police officers on patrol. we pushed for answers on how it happened. they wouldn't comment on security, but all guests go through metal detectors. a taser set it off and they are

investigating how they got through security. new this morning, the number of homicides is up from 2016. this is the second straight year it's gone up. overnight, we look at the fbi data on murder rates. two of the five are in the bay area. compton is one, followed by san bernardino, oakland and richmond. some had no murders in 2016. fremont, among the largest cities with zero homicide. the first person to face charges in robert mueller's case will be named. there are multiple reports they approved the charges. former trump adviser, michael flynn and paul manafort have been under scrutiny. southern california congressman adam schiff. we know the russian government was reaching out to the trump campaign and paul manafort and others and offering information on hillary clinton.

they thought it would help the trump campaign. >> i have not yet seen any evidence of collusion. i have seen lots of evidence the russians were very active in trying to influence the election. >> that was republican susan collins, senator from maine. president trump unleashed a string of tweets sunday, one saying all of this russia talk when the republicans are making a push for historic tax cuts. is this co-incidental? not. switching gears. a lot of baseball fans are no doubt asking each other, did you see it or maybe did you see all of it? >> some of us were asleep. epic world series game five. houston astros a game away from the championship. we need an hour to show the highlights. a base hit in the sixth inning

broke a 12-12 tie and gave the houstons a walk-off win. it lasts 5:17. the astros lead the series three games to two. game six is in los angeles tuesday. >> i heard fans say, i'm just going to the movies. 4:37. coming up, amazon hasn't chosen the new headquarters location, but they recently invested in our area. how the new location will benefit customers. president trump is always talking about breaking records and he's done it again. but, not in a way he will likely brag about.

good morning, i'm landon dowdy live at cnbc world headquarters. the markets will build on another record setting week. futures are lower this morning. plenty to watch on wall street including earnings from facebook, apple set to report. the dow gained 33 points. the nasdaq up 144 points to 6701. offering to buy france's advanced accelerator valued at $3.9 billion. they say the deal for the oncology business shows them up 11% this year. president trump's approval rating hitting the lowest level, ever. that's the finding from the

start out this morning, make sure you grab that and also a hat because it's going to be a bad hair day once that humidity gets to it. also a day for long sleeves and pants because we are back to fall after last week having to break out all the shorts and flip-flops. the morning commute through the north bay will start out very cool and, at times, make sure you watch for the slick spots on the road because of the drizzle and the patchy fog. temperatures starting out in the upper 40s this morning. we talked about a change in the pattern for the week. a large area of low pressure dropping from the north. this will be a storm system that will bring in a chance of rain starting out on friday, then back behind that, it will help drop in the cooler temperatures. the rain chances are going upstarting late friday evening, continuing saturday as well as sunday. san francisco, keep cool temperatures all week long and for the inland areas, upper 60s

today. a warm up by midweek. as we look ahead to the weekend, make plans, there may be rain off and on. i'll keep you up to date on that. mike, you have that alert for san jose drivers. >> we are going to have it for a while. look at the sensors. overall, we are okay. down 101 northbound, north of that, highway 85, a big rig was trying to get on to the freeway, made the tight turn. the rig is still on its wheels, but the debris, the metal debris is spread across the freeway. at least one lane is open. they tried to get one open. you have this big slow at the scene. northbound 85 and get past that. plenty of opportunity to do that. the freeway is looking clear. another crash, south 880 cleared relatively quickly from the two lanes. no slowing shows up into or out

of the san jose area once you pass by the crash at 101. over here, an easy drive at the maze. there may be another one into richmond. a couple reports. no slowing on the sensors. we'll track that as well as the mist and drizzle. keep that in mind. be ready use the windshield wipers. back to you. >> thank you, mike. 4:49. clean up continues from pennsylvania to maine after tropical storm felipe barrelled through the region packing 70 miles per hour wind gusts, it struck with heavy rain falling overnight. this is a car in connecticut. 45 million people were under flood warnings. there are reports of damaged homes and downed power lines. the storm struck on the five year anniversary of superstorm sandy. puerto rico's electric company is working toward cancelling a $300 million

contract with a small company from montana. whitefish was hired to fix the aging infrastructure. the day the hurricane hit, whitefish had two employees. they are wondering how they got such a contract. there are reports zinke knows the ceo. palo alto leaders want to ban pot dispensaries. the city's planning commission passed the ordinance back in august. you may recall last year, more than two-thirds of state voters approved legalizing the recreational marijuana. in san jose, the police department is hosting a meeting on whether the facilities should be able to sell recreational pot. your input is wanted. the meeting is at 7:00 at city hall. bart submits paperwork to allow the next generation cars to carry passengers.

off the back of a big rig. the good news, the big rig on the wheels but the debris across lanes two, three and four causes the back up. i'm told cal trans is picking up that debris to get a lane open. right now, northbound 85 just after you start the slowing, you should be able to get to the off ramp to the rest of the northbound direction moving smoothly. here is where the back up is. here is the rest of silicon valley. an easy drive toward the bay bridge. it cleared from the east shore freeway. kari, we have mist. i have it on my windshield as well. >> you may have to do a couple swipes with the windshield wipers. you will need them as the week goes on. it is mostly cloudy and cool temperatures, too. as we look at the highs for today, it's going to be much lower than where we should be fois
