and break it down by microclimate. mike, the nimitz is back in business? >> folks are supposed to say, what? it was closed. here, 880 at the coliseum, we look at the map and talking about this is farther north between 23rd and 29th. you had to get off and on the freeway. they were working on that overpass. there was that closure there. it cleared without delay. there's the bay bridge approach out of the maze. this accident just reported northbound 101. i believe it's on the northbound side. chp should get that. i'll bring it back to you by the time i'm back here. back to you. >> we have breaking news overnight from san francisco. violence outside a safeway. an employee is stabbed. pete suratos is live in richland district with what happened. pete, explain what led up to all of this.

>> reporter: good morning to you guys. we are at 7th avenue in the richmond district in front of safeway. the scene is all clear right now. it was much different hours ago, just after midnight. we have that video we got when the crew was on the ground. we are just getting this information. we know that the stabbing took place during business hours at 12:30 a.m. it began with the suspect shoplifting. the victim and the suspect became involved in a physical confrontation, the victim being an employee at the safeway. the suspect's dog bit the victim and the suspect stabbed the victim on his torso. other employees came to the victim's aid. the suspect stabbed them before leaving or trying to leave the scene. he was retained. the victim transported to the hospital and admitted with life threatening conditions.

the suspect is going to be booked. hoping to get a booking photo later on. this happened during business hours. this store closes at 2:00 a.m. i looked at a number of safeways here. they are 24 hours or close late. this is going to reopen at 6:00 a.m. we are getting details from sfpd. live in san francisco, pete suratos for "today in the bay." >> hoping for a full recovery with that employee. thanks so much. 4:33. washington d.c. reeling from the indictment of trump campaign staffers. breaking news yesterday morning, former campaign manager, paul manafort and his long-time business associate rick gates were indicted on 12 charges including conspiracy against the u.s. and money laundering. a third member from the campaign, george papadopoulos pled guilty to lying to the fbi

about his contacts with russians. u.s. professor of politics says papadopoulos is likely offering crucial information. >> tell everything they know about the campaign's ongoing connection with the russian government. >> scott mcgrew following the latest. he is monitoring how the white house and president trump are reacting to the news. we are going check in with scott in the next hour. in the bay area, president trump will dominate the conversation during the san francisco board of supervisors meeting this afternoon. the board is voting on a resolution urging congress to impeach president trump. oakland, berkeley, alameda and los angeles passed a similar measure. details on several sights at great america. the santa clara police are looking for 15-20 people. this is cell phone video of an attack at the park.

forecast. what is it going to feel like as we head out with the kids later this afternoon? maybe you are going to a halloween party and be dressed up. here is a live look outside in fremont. it's all clear compared to yesterday when it was misting and drizzling at times. we are going to have mostly cloudy skies, looking at the temperatures at 50 degrees and rising to the mid-60s today. as you check out the seven day forecast, we are going to start out in san francisco. then you will see we have rain moving in by late friday. so, as we look at today's high temperatures, still enjoying that dry weather and breezy wind, the high temperature in cupertino up to 69 degrees. 66 degrees today in morgan hill. for the east bay, in the upper 60s today and this is basically where we were yesterday, 67 in livermore. 66 in hayward and 63 in san mateo. once the winds pick up, it's

going to cool down fast. mission district up to 62 and some upper 60s in the north bay. getting dressed this morning, maybe you are not able to wear a costume, just getting ready for work. a good day for a hat to give you a little bit of protection from all the humidity in the air and once you get out the door, you need a jacket. as we go through the day, it's going to be a good day for long sleeves and pants because we are back to fall and it finally feels like it. for the rest of the forecast, checking out the school day forecast for livermore, some of the kids have the halloween parades and you are going to hang out longer and watch that. it's going to be upper 40s. so, you will need a jacket once again, something nice and warm. as the kids head out of school, in the mid-60s. we have been talking about this for several days now. the incoming rain, just in time for the weekend. it's probably not when you want to see the rain. hey, this is when it is coming

in. we'll take it. starts late friday evening, moving in from the north. this is a fairly cold system. a subtropical moisture, but as of now, we could get good rainfall amounts and snow for the sierra. another round of rain behind that could bring additional snow to the area. light showers on monday. the temperatures are cool the next several days in san francisco. breaking out the warmer jackets and sweaters by the weekend. we'll be falling back sunday morning. keep that in mind. for the inland areas, upper 60s and cooling off to the upper 50s. we are going straight to winter. mike, you are updating two crashes on the grid? >> i am. i don't want to make anybody too worried. the speed sensors look great. early. lighter traffic. we'll talk about the pattern in a second. i want to point out two crashes, san jose and the alt month.

san jose, this is not affecting 101 itself, it's getting there. the access from the road may be affected by a crash there. the metering light is not on now. they may have damage and repair that and block the lane if they do that before the morning commute. my guess is they won't repair that. the traffic is slow getting to the freeway. over here at west 580 at grant line road, this crash is moved to the center divide. it caught that break in traffic. there's been a jam and now the delay. things moving smoothly toward grant line road. the build is happening as well. once you get there off 205, a crash in the center divide. everything is toward the dublin interchange. an easy drive for the bay bridge. no delays for the east shore or the maze into the area. a quick look at the golden gate bridge, this halloween orange or

shoot her by pointing the gun and firing. the defense argues the bullet hit the ground first, which could change the direction of the bullet toward steinle. they say the suspect was too far from the victim. >> i will say this, when i see the photographs posted, it seems very far away. in some of the photos, you can see the divot, the chair. you don't see the memorial that is set up. >> both sides are back in court this morning and so will sam brock be. follow nbc bay area on twitter. we'll have the latest on this case. happening today, san jose city counsel votes on a law requiring gun owners lock up weapons when they leave their home. it calls on owners to lock guns in a safe or lock box.

a judge will decide whether to evict a homeless camp in berkeley. it is in martin luther king way and alcatraz avenue. they sued to stop the eviction of the camp. this is video of the moment the police issued the notice. the judge stopped the evicts. >> 4:51 right now. tomorrow, health care enrollment begins. prices are going down. average price consumers pay for subsidized coverage goes down 1.5%, a decrease of $9 a month or $108 yearly. the state of obamacare is in limbo. republican lawmakers look for ways to gut the law. coming up on "today in the bay," slimy creatures taking over a park, forcing it to shut down. first, happening now,

neighborhood streets. little ones out trick or treating, some big ones, too. parents want to make sure they are safe. one east bay community, walking around can be treacherous. >> vicky nguyen looked into the concerns with an early report you can see tonight. >> reporter: halloween isn't the only scary night for pedestrians in castro valley. they say they are fed up with unsafe streets that put cars and kids on a collision course. residents reached out about something many of us take for granted. sidewalks. castro valley is the largest unincorporated community with 61,000 people. they have waited years for sidewalks to be built, but the county could make temporary fixes to make it safer for kids, disabled and elderly. >> there's not a lot of accessible sidewalks for wheelchair bound people or people with physical
