cloud cover but it isn't until around 11:00, midnight hour. it's going to stick to the north bay, even through the monday, 6:00, 7:00 a.m. hour and then by early morning commute, just north of the golden gate bridge, a little bit further south from the golden gate bridge, we'll start to get some of those showers, but the majority of this system is looking like it's going to stay far off north and it will miss the remainder of the bay area, at least for now, because we do have a couple of other systems, but for now, it looks like that system will be staying pretty stationary overall. as we head into the next seven days, here's what you can expect into monday. 60 degrees and we do keep a chance of showers and that's because we're tracking a couple of other systems, even heading into thanksgiving as well that could bring the chance of some nice cloudy skies and those cooler temperatures will remain in the forecast through the remainder of the week and then as we head into wednesday for inland areas, we start to climb into the 70s for inland spots and if you notice, we do keep

that chance of rain on and off through thanksgiving. expect to keep some of the cloud cover. but for today, well, are remember to head on over to our feed the need food drive because the temperatures and the weather is going to be absolutely perfect for that. i know we have a number of reporters and anchors across safeways all around the bay area. for now, i'm going to send it to kira. beautiful day to get out. still ahead on "today in the bay," a live look at that safeway on dunn avenue in morgan hill. after the break, we'll check in with "today in the bay" anchor marcus washington as vianey just said, our feed the need holiday food drive kicks off today. and marcus will let us know how simple it is to help feed those in need.

7:51 am
feed a family of four. >> so tell us again, how can people come out and do this. >> it's really easy. just look for the bag display, grab the tear sheet and make your donation to the local food bank. >> reporter: thank you so much, wendy. we've had people come in all morning through these doors and you just give them one. some people are surprised to see, of course with the camera here and everything, so it's always a fun thing. and we want to bring in some people. i have daniel. he actually was here earlier this morning. he came, he actually put one of these and you donated as well. come in with us. come in. so talk to us about the importance of actually wanting to give back and it was an easy way to do it as well. >> absolutely. certainly was. how convenient, picking up some groceries, get this little ticket, give my $10, it feels great. >> reporter: that's easy. pick up, you give, you help a lot of people. and that's what we do. we're going to be out here, laura and myself, we're out here today here at the safeway on dunn avenue in morgan hill. we're actually going to be
7:52 am
scattered throughout the bay throughout the day so you have time to get out and help a lot of families in need. but until then, we're going to stay here, keep passing these out and hopefully get a lot more people to come in and donate. for now, live here in morgan hill. back to you at the station. >> and another perk is if people come to that location, they get to meet you. you moved here just a few months ago from the east coast and they can meet laura. it's a win-win. >> reporter: and you know, they can meet laura and they can actually take a picture with us. we don't mind taking pictures. have your cell phone ready. take a selfie. >> all right. hopefully everyone will come out. thanks, marcus. again, our annual feed the need food drive kicks off today from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at safeways across the bay area. if you can't make it today, the food drive goes all month up until christmas and it's super easy, next time you're at safeway, you can donate in the checkout line. again, it's just $10. a week long of eating for a cause caps off this weekend when bay area chefs and wineries unite to raise money for north bay fire victims. more than 100 restaurants took

part all week in chefsgiving, donating proceeds to relief efforts. this sunday, san francisco's ferry plaza will open its doors to foodies who also want to help out by sampling the best the bay area has to offer in cuisine and wine. >> so many wineries have come on board and wanted to help others. we actually have three wine makers with us on sunday that have actually lost their homes entirely in the fire. >> some primo wines, we're told, will be up for auction too. the goal is to raise $1 million. tickets to the gala are still available. just go to nbcbayarea.com for the link. at 7:53, much more ahead on "today in the bay." coming up is our "clear the shelters" segment featuring our friends from pets in need. we'll introduce you to oliver next. - grocery outlet

and alexa are here with oliver. he is so cute in his little sweater e. i mean, every weekend, you just dazzle us with these dog outfits. so cute. you tell me that oliver is already two and a half, so good news for people who are interested in adopting. he's not a puppy. so you don't have to go through all the training and maybe energy that comes with puppies. >> yeah. he's pretty mellow. >> he is. >> he does seem pretty mellow. and so he won't grow any more? . don't have to worry about that. he's a perfect lap dog, you could say. what else about him? he does seem pretty mellow. >> gets along with other dogs, it seems. he's in a -- he's sharing his roommate right now is a dog that is selective with other dogs and he gets along with her just fine. he likes his walks. he loves people. >> loves people. >> good. >> oh, i think he'd do well in

any home. >> and i should back up just a bit. what type of dog is he? >> we don't know. >> which is common with a lot of rescues. >> terrier and something. >> and something. well, he is adorable and as always, if you're interested in adopting oliver, just head to petsinneed.org. i do also want to talk about, you have a lot of animals. i mean, you guys really get -- take in and save a lot of lives. >> yes. >> but with that comes a lot of responsibility and you need volunteers. >> yes. definitely. we're actually looking for -- we call them doggy play group monitors so every morning, we have play groups where they all go out as a group. we just need volunteers to monitor that, make sure no one breaks out in fights, everyone's getting along so it's a great way to see their personalities and see how they interact with each other. so we're having trainings. we're having them monthly so i think our next one is december 9th, which is a saturday. it's on our website. all the details are on there. we have all our upcoming

orientations. usually you have to be kind of 16 or 17 years or older to participate in this, but we also do have, for younger teenagers and younger kids, some other programs. >> we have a shadow program for 13 to 17 and kids can come in and work our shelter and do what we do for the day. so they get to see what a no-kill shelter does for the day. >> wonderful. >> so they work kennel, they work adoptions. if medical's there, they help out in medical and they socialize, socialize, socialize. >> it's a great idea, especially for people who might not be ready to dive in yet. there was a new study that came out that people with pets have a longer life and a lower risk of heart disease or something like that. forgive me. i probably botched that. but it's a good way to come visit the dogs, not have the responsibility of bringing one home yet and reap the benefits. >> just come and relieve some stress. >> yeah. >> well, thanks for joining us.
