ad lib live picture-- san fran it is tuesday morning. we were inching toward thanksgiving. taking a live look outside, city by the bay, san francisco seeing more and more lights as the holidays approach. good morning, i'm laura garcia. >> i'm marcus washington. indefinitely, walk outside and the amount of cool. i like it. >> it's mild. we are seeing the clouds lingering. it is going to clear out as we go through the day and more sunshine. the gorgeous system that brought the rain lifting to the north. sprinkles near ukiah is moving away. as we look at the high temperatures, mid-70s for the south bay and also the inland

valley. overall, very nice. we'll talk about what's ahead as rain returns later this week. that's coming up. mike, you are watching something in the tri-valley. >> we weren't so clear on the details. look at the map. very light. we plan on seeing a lighter commute. one last median before the holiday. southbound 680, reports of a vehicle in lanes, northbound is where i saw all the slowing until three minutes ago when the sensors cleared as i was heading over. we are tracking that. so far, looks like everything cleared up nicely out of the tri-valley. i'm going to track the slowing. back to you. >> thank you, mike. new this morning, the san jose state university police officer is hurt. police say he was attacked by several suspects overnight. >> bob redell joins us live from the university with what happened. bob? >> reporter: good morning to

you, laura and marcus. this happened around 12:20 this morning. it was a police officer on his bicycle when he got into a fight with three suspects. this took place a block off campus at 3rd street. it's not clear what led up to the altercation. the sergeant was punched at least one time in the nose. he was taken to the hospital. other officers responded. they arrested all three suspects. we can't tell whether or not they are juveniles. one was tased, a second hit by a baton. they had to receive medical treatment. the sergeant is expected to be okay. reporting live in san jose state university, bob redell, "today in the bay." >> thanks for that one. new this morning, a fire off an interstate off ramp in the south bay, just got this video into the news room. flames are out already. the fire broke out from

northbound 280 in san jose. caltrans is checking to make sure there's no lasting damage. the defense is expected to finish up today in the kate steinle kate. after that, the case goes to jurors. we know the jury can consider a first degree murder charge. jurors are deciding if zarate intended to shoot kate steinle or if the shooting was an accident. check updates on twitter. 4:33, continuing coverage, police trying to find whoever killed a redwood city father. it happened in broad daylight. it happened during a cell phone sale arranged online. police identified the victim as 32-year-old daniel carlos, survived by his wife and 5-year-old daughter. we spoke to his family. telling the little girl her father isn't coming home. >> it's hard to say.

i don't know -- [ inaudible ] it hurt. >> the family's fund raising page on the website. the sheriff's investigators say they have surveillance videos and a number of cooperating witnesses. members of the hell's angels bike gang are in trouble with the feds. they arrested eight members of the sonoma county hell's angels. it happened before a scheduled motorcycle ride. the arrests come after a three-year investigation, which included a raid at the santa rosa clubhouse. they are accused of crimes from murder, extortion and witness tampering. >> this indictment is the next step in our mission of finding, prosecuting and eradicating it. >> federal agents seized more

than a dozen guns and several motorcycles serving federal warrants. agents say more arrests could be coming. san francisco transportation leaders vote to pull medical marijuana off muni buses. sfmta allowed medical pot ads since 2014. they point out alcohol and tobacco ads are banned. there are 130 mile an hour dispensary ads on muni vehicles. giving away hundreds of thanksgiving meals. >> it continues today. there are around 50 pounds of food in the boxes, including a turkey. more will be handed out today. holidays can be extra tough on families. >> we want to remind, you know, folks that there's people here that are struggling because the rent is too high, prices keep going up, wages are staying the same. i feel like there's an extra

it's going to be such a beautiful day. take a look at what you are feeling as you step out the door in the south bay, 55 degrees. a few clouds. mild in the peninsula. 53 degrees. it's starting to clear out in the tri-valley, 51. the right side of the screen, the north bay. 52 degrees, clouds left over. as you get a look at the seven day forecast at the bottom of the screen, it shows we are going to have very nice weather these next few days. take a look at how warm it is going to be in the south bay, in san jose, 75 degrees. 77 degrees in morgan hills. for the east bay, going to see low to mid-70s in many spots. this is well above normal. walnut creek, 72 degrees. for oakland, a high of 70 degrees. 70 in half-moon bay and redwood city, 74 degrees. in san francisco, upper 60s. marina district, 69 degrees. low 70s in the north bay. mill valley, 68.

low 70s around santa rosa. starting out this day, you will want to start to get dressed and ready for the day with light, long sleeves and pants. as the day goes along, you may be rolling up those sleeves. it will feel like early fall. getting out the door for that morning commute, you may have to crank up the heat for a while into the south bay. we are going to have those temperatures in the low 50s. a mix of sun and clouds throughout the day. look at what you will feel for lunchtime, 68 degrees. it's going to be really nice today. if you have the day off, maybe family is in town. head to half-moon bay. it is going to be pleasant. we don't get many of these opportunities where the temperatures are reaching up to 70 degrees along the coastline. there will be breezy winds and partly cloudy skies. overall, a nice day. by tomorrow, more of the same, 70 degrees. a slight rain chance from san francisco farther to the north on thanksgiving evening, then friday, we'll have a mix of sun

stolen guns. >> for the first time, publicly, stephen stock traces those guns across the u.s. to see where and how they are connected to other crimes. >> to get a sense of how widespread this problem of stolen guns is, nbc bay area and more than a dozen nbc stations across the country teamed up with a journal organization, the trace, to find out how missing pieces circulate around the u.s. we got a rare behind the scenes tour of the alcohol and explosives tracing center in martinsburg, west virginia. they can only trace the gun to an original seller when the gun is found at a crime scene and asked to do it by an individual police department to find the gun's origin. we spent the last year and a half doing something similar. we got records for 1,000 law enforcement agencies in 36 states, nearly 850,000 gun

a very good tuesday morning to you. look at that. people up and about. maybe getting a jump on their day or a jump on that holiday traffic that is coming as well. we'll check the morning commute in a bit with mike inouye. it is 4:55. happening today, the suny veil police department says good-bye to a canine. he was shot by suspects. officers shot and killed the man. memorial service starts at 11:00 and will be streamed live on facebook and twitter. a follow up for you, bart is reportedly calling the latest setback for the fleet of cars a bump in the road. the agency says it can be fixed in a matter of days. according to the examiner, it is off the table because the cars did not pass inspection. it should amount to a few days

a live look ots it is tuesday morning at 5:00. are you ready for thanksgiving? of course you have to gro to the store to pick up the last minute things. take the turkey out of the freezer, now, and get it ready. good morning and thanks for joining us. i'm marcus washington. >> i'm laura garcia. the temperatures are going to cooperate, mild, right? >> yes. as you are cleaning the house, you can open up the windows and doors and let the fresh area. i love that this time of year. we are going to have more comfortable weather in san francisco, all clear. then maybe you want to get in an early morning jog before you really get this day started. our temperatures will be in the mid-50s and really nice as we go throughout the rest of the morning with low 60s later today. upper 60s for that high temperature in san francisco. look at san jose, 75 degrees. warming up here as we head closer to the holiday. i'll talk about what's ahead in a few minutes. mike, what's happening at the bay bridge?
