75 in san jose. 72 today in napa. i'll show you more spots you may be headed to in the forecast coming up. mike is checking on the bay bridge approach. >> that's right. we had an earlier crash overnight. then a traffic break. right now, the sensors light. for much of the morning, an easy drive because of the holiday approaching. here, approaching the bay bridge, we have no more slowing. that's cleared up. the earlier crash and traffic break. no more closures and no more problems getding to the bay bridge from the san francisco side. from the east bay, the sensors look clear. a quick look. the sensors show cash lanes backing up because of one cash lane toll plaza. one that is not yet there at the toll plaza. back to you. thank you very much. breaking news we are covering this morning. a u.s. navy aircraft crashed in the pacific. there's an intense search for three crew members who are

missing. >> the navy announced eight crew members have been rescued. the aircraft crashed just before 10:00 p.m. our time southeast of okinawa, japan. the crew was enroute to transport flights carrying passengers and cargo to the "uss ronald reagan." continuing coverage on the kate steinle murder case. we could soon have a verdict. it could be today. closing arguments were yesterday. if jurors do not reach a decision today, they will break for thanksgiving and pick up on monday. steinle was killed in san francisco in 2014. defense says it was accidental and no intent to kill. the suspect is an undocumented immigrant and this shooting sparked a nationwide debate about sanctuary cities. we are going to break in if we hear the verdict come in. stay with nbc bay area for

coverage. the search is on, right now, for one of two escaped palo alto inmates after a crash and shootout in stockton. the story was breaking news last night at 11:00. >> we are live at the courthouse in palo alto with the overnight developments. >> it's been a couple weeks since these men have been on the run. >> reporter: one of them is back in jail. good morning to you, laura and marcus. one of the two inmates who escaped from the santa clara county courthouse in palo alto early november is back in jail in central county after both inmates had an encounter with law enforcement last night in stockton. you are about to listen to video of gunshots fired by officers firing at the two inmates during her pursuit on trinity parkway. this was in stockton. they ended up chasing them into a walmart parking lot. the driver of the vehicle was the one who got out of the vehicle, ran in the store and was captured. we have confirmed that man is

46-year-old. he is one of the inmates who escaped from the jail. again, as i mentioned, earlier this month. this was in november 6th. the other man in the vehicle who was the passenger took over the driver's seat, took off and they are looking for that person. he is the second inmate, 47-year-old john bivins. this is what he looks like, this is his mug shot. law enforcement released this image, surveillance of him inside a convenience store. law enforcement says he is in a green, 1999 ford explorer, license plate 7tty 505. a green, 1999 ford explorer. you might recall they escaped when they were in court earlier this month on kidnapping and robbery charges. they had a key to the cuffs and two other people were arrested

zillow compared october of last year to october of this year. the numbers were released last year. it is good news if you are a buyer, rather a seller. a 12% increase in home prices. the median is now more than $1 million. it's $1,076,000. there are fewer homes on the market. it is rough for buyers and renters. the median rent is $3400 a month. scott mcgrew has the chief economist from trulia on "press: here" are we in a housing bubble, the answer is no. >> the reason i think that is solid economic fundamentals. demand is high. incomes are high. that pushes up prices. at the same time, inventory is very low. the number of home that is are

prison. larry will plead guilty to multiple sex charges in a case involving seven girls. prosecutors will with hold charges involving charges of other women. gabby douglas is revealing she was a victim of abuse by dr. l lar larry nassar. she says for years she and others were conditioned to stay silent. remembering those experiences are too painful. 5:16 now. a san francisco company that shocked so many people with its behavior is shocking them again. uber was hacked and tried to cover it up. >> bloomburg was the first to report. hackers got hold of 57 million people's records. that includes drivers and customers. the records include names, e-mail addresses, phone numbers,

but do not appear to include credit card information or details about trips. uber paid $100,000 to keep the hackers quiet. it happened while the uber ceo was ceo. travis is on the left. just now came to light, remember, uber has a new ceo there on the right. derek has been fired or he fired uber's head of security this morning. the founder and ceo has been a nightmare for uber, even after he left them, berating a driver. accusations he left the company with sexism. it's not unusual to pay a ransom, but the company should have informed customers and drivers their information was exposed. the new ceo apologizes and says there's no excuse. meg whitman is stepping down

we'll start to see scattered showers moving into the north bay and san francisco. it slowly starts to work its way south, into the south baby sunday. this is the end of the weekend. many people will be heading back home, traveling. it looks like it is going to be sloppy. allow extra time to get there. for the' era, a lot of snow coming down starting on sunday, continuing on monday and then we may get good snowfall totals as well. check out the thanksgiving forecast for livermore. temperatures low 70s. for the next few days, low 70s there as well. we will have 60s in san francisco. we talked about those rain chances moving in saturday afternoon and, again on sunday. mainly, early next week. as we head over to mike, you are tracking a couple reports now. >> just a couple. we have that report of a car fire over here westbound 24 approaching the caldecott. we have no lanes blocked and no injuries. not a lot of activity.

in his arm. this is surveillance video that captured everything. he happened to be in the pharmacy with his family when a suspect pointed the gun at him. the officer opened fire. you can see it there. his son was close by his side. after the shooting, the officer hands that son off to his wife, as she crouches behind an aisle. both suspects died. in the north bay, the deadline has come to remove toxic debris from your home. homeowners have to tell county officials how they plan to clear their properties. if not, they may be taken to court and forced a clean up. most of the homeowners allowed federal crews to remove toxic debris. >> remember noah mac on "the voice" fighting out in the top? >> well, let's check it out.

nationwide in more than a decade. we are here at sfo. right now, there's not too big of a crowd. not many people going toward that tsa area. we'll jump to the numbers from aaa. 51 million people are traveling for thanksgiving this week by air, roads or rail. as i mentioned, the highest travel volume in decades since 2005. i want to point out this juxtaposition, you have the cheapest average air fare since 2015 for folks out of town, the highest gas prices since 2014. when it comes to the gas prices for those heading out of town, the average per gallon for oakland, san jose and san francisco, the numbers are on the screen. $3.21. just a shave over $3 for oakland, san jose and san francisco. a note for travelers, 80 east is rank ld as the third worst traffic hot spot when it comes to america's most congested

cities. that could have to do with folks heading out of town for the weekend. the worst time to travel to sfo where we are standing would have been yesterday afternoon. according to aaa, it doesn't look too bad right now, but of course, things can change throughout the day. live at sfo, pete suratos for "today in the bay." >> thanks. new this morning, i-80 is back open in san francisco after emergency repairs early this morning. chp says four cars hit the guardrail west of 4th street. crews repaired it overnight. we took you here live at 4:30 as it was happening. lanes reopened by 5:00 a.m. a friend is now identifying the young man who died in a san jose house fire that killed his sister and mother. it happened saturday on south 9th street. the father is still in critical condition. medical examiners officially identified one victim as

14-year-old ivan lee. a gofundme page has been set up. a 21-year-old was another victim, a mechanical engineering student at san jose state. investigators say 45-year-old chad touched a 12-year-old girl inappropriately on several occasions. the girl was a student in his math course at a private summer camp. the student told her mother about the assault. he is a teacher at broadway high school in san jose. 5:35. a member of the notorious hells angel bike gang is on the run from the law. the fbi says 36-year-old russel is considered armed and dangerous. agents have been investigating the motorcycle club for years. members are facing charges of murder, extortion and witness tampering.

police and fbi acts arrested eight mens in santa rosa an saturday. 5:35. in san jose, city officials are trying to shut down churches that are fronts for unlicensed pot dispensaries. this is youtube from the coachella valley church. they make no secret of their appreciation for pot. they spoke with people who visited last night and some brought the pot. >> i got the cookie. >> you say your prayers. you don't consume. >> the second person you heard from was visiting a different cannabis church in san jose. they allow 16 dispensaries to operate. all have been vetted. charging companies to release carbon is paying off. carbon permits sold out generating $860 million. it happened yesterday. the state requires companies to

buy permits to release greenhouse gases. not only do the permits sell out, the demand was so strong, prices are at the highest level. new this morning, caltran says a plan to add express lanes to 101 will have impact on the environment. we check the link to report on the caltrans website overnight. it is not working. but, the san mateo daily journal has the report. no current lanes will be removed. caltrans wants to add a 22 mile stretch of express lanes. the report says the plan is to start construction in 2020 and open lanes by 2024. folks, take a look at the bay bridge approach. an easy drive on the sensors. no problems. over here on this side of the screen, zoom over to north 242. i have been seeing the sensors slow down.

chp says they are not going to cause a sig-alert, but they mentioned the word. one lane reported blocked. as the sensors clear, they may be moving off to the shoulder. ambulances on scene. there may be minor injuries. again, chp and the rest of the crews don't sound too worried about it. the rest of the bay, this orange highlights where there may be low clouds, maybe fog. we happen to have a camera there. you can see the view from dublin. no problem seeing the freeway from the camera atop the building there. we see low clouds in the distance there. >> that is not your department. >> just above the freeway. >> crossing over getting closer to the weekend. >> a lot of people have family in town, finding things to do, going shopping and the weather. make sure you plan around that as we get ready for showers to start to move in. let's check out saturday's forecast. looking at the coast, the bay, inland areas is going to be

nice. more clouds in the mix. we'll have a chance of showers in the north bay as we go into saturday afternoon. then, by sunday, pretty much all the bay area will see rain off and on, temperatures cooling down with breezy winds, highs reaching mid to upper 60s. if you are planning to go to santa cruz this weekend, the best they will be on friday, 72 degrees, mostly sunny skies, partly cloudy saturday and the showers moving in sunday morning. a lot of people will be heading to the sierra. here is a look at the resort at squaw valley. it is going to be mid-50s. beautiful, quite a bit of snow on the grounds. the snow will begin falling early sunday morning as you head back to the bay area. bring the tire chains just in case, even though it will be clear as you go, coming home may be treacherous and take a long time. checking out monterey's forecast, low 70s. saturday looks beautiful. 73 degrees. but, then much cooler on sunday. once that rain begins to fall.

shooting. five people were killed in the ram panlg. woods thinks back to being shot and is grateful he survived. >> reporter: he thought he was saying good-bye to his father. >> it was hard. i'm not worried about the people that don't have their moms to hold or uncle or brother. they are not there. they are gone. >> he still can't drink a glass of water, but believes others are the ones who really need prayers right now. new overnight, cvs says three more women came forward accuse zing charlie rose of misconduct. they are cbs employees. this follows the initial report that had eight accusers. overnight, we got fresh reaction to the firing from former co-host gayle king. >> i'm a variety of emotions. you know, there's certainly some anger. there's sadness.

democrat, jones. i have looked at his record. it's terrible in crime and the border and the military. >> i should have said doug jones. the election is in alabama december 12th. some polls show moore will win the seat. meanwhile, democratic congressman from michigan acknowledged a cash settlement paid to a female staffer who left his office, but denies it has anything to do with sex or sexual harassment. the house ethics committee will investigate. >> you would think the president could pounce on the conyers news, but instead, tweeting about the father of the ucla basketball player caught in china. he calls him an ungrateful fool. he is the father of one of the bruins basketball player detained in china.

oh, you may have friends with you. see this? this is on lake boulevard. a momma bear and cubs running around at that safeway and cvs. so many people in the area are familiar with tahoe city. how many times have i walked those aisles there. the mom was making the rounds around. they wornt bothering anyone, just window shopping checking out the christmas sweater collection, perhaps? >> why not? >> no snow, yet, in that area. expected to be in the 60s in tahoe. resorts not far from there are already open. >> they may not need the sweaters anytime soon. >> we had great weather. we don't need sweaters, either. the high temperatures reaching the mid-70s. it's been nice to have nice, warm, sunny weather. this shot, in dublin, we have fog rolling in. from the central valley up toward the north bay, this is

really going to cause a lot of problems for people not only going to work, but starting to travel and heading to your holiday destination. so, make sure you allow extra time. this is really going to cause a lot of problems, once again, for that low visibility. then the high temperatures today reaching the upper 60s and mid-70s. really nice, though, starting with milder weather and make sure you grab those sunglasses. after all the low fog and clouds clear, we'll get sunshine. a great day for short sleeves. make it to the mid-70s. a lot of rain to the north of us. that's where the storm track has been. it stays to the north as we go into several days. we will have some of that very warm weather for this time of year. a lot of clouds starting to move in by tomorrow. look at the time line. saturday afternoon, rain moves to the north bay. it makes it to san francisco and parts of the south bay and east baby early sunday morning. that's the next significant chance of rain by the weekend.

as we check out the thanksgiving forecast for san jose, it is going to be in the low 70s. partly to mostly cloudy skies. great weather for the turkey trot. in san francisco, we will have a chance of showers moving in by thanksgiving afternoon and for the weekend, a chance of rain by sunday afternoon. once again into sunday, that may linger into the first part of next week and very warm weather inland. mike, you are tracking what is happening now at the bay bridge. >> it's unusual for a normal workweek. this is a holiday week for many people. we see the gradual build halfway to the parking lot. it's a back up. the metering lights are on at the toll plaza. a gradual build here. look at the maps. that's the same for around the bay. a light volume of traffic. we are seeing this. low clouds that hover around 580. i want to show and emphasize what it might be for the drivers. look at the dublin drivers,
