"today in the bay's" bob redell live at the scene this morning. what did you find out so far? >> reporter: well, good morning to you. san jose police have shot off a good portion in this neighborhood that does not include presentation high school, but includes homes on that side of kurtner. a plain clothes officer and assault rifles. they have areas staked out with the lights shining down the street looking for one person, at least one person. i did speak to a neighbor who lives around here who said in recent weeks and months, she has heard shots fired in the neighborhood and there's reports of several burglaries. she didn't hear anything last night. she is wondering if they are things she witnessed or heard in the weeks or months before might be related to what's happening

area. in san francisco, we are seeing high clouds here and there. we are going to see fog start to form. that may come into play the next hour. so far, we are expecting that commute in the later portion of the day. 9:00 a.m., san francisco should have clear skies. the temperatures don't really hit the 60s until later in the afternoon. how are the roads looking, mike? >> very good right now. speed sensors around the bay. green all over the place. we track that crash on grant line road. not a major concern. 580 is clear. 24, we had a crash reported west 24 at pleasant hill road. the traffic partners removed that from the roadway. it was on the shoulder. the walnut interchange. i'll double check with chp to confirm that. the traffic to the bay bridge, a few more cars. nothing big. fog in the north bay. no major concern as far as chp is concerned. your drive-through the north bay, you are at speed.

tree at christmas in the park. that's where vandals put a goat head from the top of the tree that you see in images posted online. the goat head is expected to be replaced in the next few days. happening today, a crackdown on the streets of san francisco. police will focus on people who put cyclists and walkers in danger, specifically, officers say they will watch for people going too fast, making unsafe turns, not stopping at stop signs or traffic signals. also, not yielding to pedestrians in crosswalks. more details for you now that we posted many times and reported on the effort to eliminate traffic related deaths by the year 2024. overnight, we checked for the score card list the status as needs improvement. 2017, there have been 17 deaths. that is better than 2016, which saw 30 deaths. it is 5:05.

a controversial immigration rate is the focus of a hearing. it happened august 16 in west oakland. police assisted in the raid directing traffic. they say it goes against the open sanctuary city policy. the police will deliver the report on the raid to the city council tonight at 5:00. 5:06. live to washington, d.c. president trump is heading back to capitol hill to try to convince some reluctant republicans to pass the tax plan. "today in the bay's" tracie potts is live now. what can we expect this morning? >> reporter: well, expect the same thing we saw on the house side when they were trying to get tax reform passed and the president showed up to push them over the line. he's trying to do the same thing now with the senate, but it's a different plan and there are people in his own party who are not quite ready to vote for this. this afternoon, president trump has lunch with republicans

aiming for a tax vote this week. his goal? get a tax plan, even if not one democrat votes for it. >> i'm not saying we trust them. we are interested in getting it passed. >> we turn this mess around and do our very, very best to do it in the right way. >> reporter: there are a handful of republicans opposed. they can only afford to lose two. >> this is the process. you are watching it be made. >> i would like to vote for the bill. we'll try to get there. >> reporter: they worry it favors the wealthy over low income families. they found in the first decade people making over $100,000 a year would pay less. those making under $75,000 would pay more. >> i just want to make sure the revenues are there and we are not increasing the deficit. >> reporter: this plan could add more than $1 trillion to the deficit.

reports of disturbing requests. they reported that they search algorithm had inappropriate phrases. they issued a statement to usa today saying we worked to quickly remove it as soon as we were aware. we are investigating it to determine what was behind this autocompletion. google says they removed 270 accounts that made predatory comments on videos featuring minors. 625,000 videos that were targeted by child predators. the sight removed ads from 2 million videos. speaking of google and youtube, they have been making changes for the better, lately. >> scott mcgrew joins us now. it was the press that had them do it. >> that's worth a reminder. in the case you are talking about there and we have been talking the last couple weeks,

it's been news reporters who found the disturbing content online and asked the companies about it. it was then that those companies, like google, like youtube and facebook made the change, not before. let's talk about uber. today is a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day for uber. there is a long list. the city of chicago is suing uber for its data breach. uber announced hackers got millions of records about drivers and passengers. uber knew about it but didn't tell any of us. washington is interested, too. members of congress sent a letter to uber demanding information about that hack. we expect several states attorney general will investigate as well. and waymo, the automated car company started at google is asking for a delay in a try that was due to start this week after it was discovered uber may have hidden a document from the court. remember, there's a civil suit and criminal investigation. the u.s. attorney may not be

san francisco. i want to bring your attention to the doppler radar. if you see just off north, we have the storm system. it's this cold front that is going to keep our temperatures on the cooler side. it's going to bring a slight chance of showers into the afternoon and the late overnight hours as well. the south bay, expect highs in the 50s. san jose, 63. east bay, 60s. walnut creek, 62. along the peninsula, expect breezy conditions throughout the day. 57 degrees for half-moon bay. san francisco will climb into those upper 50s and lower 60s. 60s across the board. it will make for a stable afternoon here in the bay area, a lot like we saw yesterday. it's going to feel more frosty during the days of the week ahead. mike, are you tracking any issues? i see something along the bay bridge. >> it did form a little early. i was looking for any reason. the bay looks great around the bay. it is tuesday and the tuesday

one near an elementary school where there is police activity. bob redell just moved to that location. >> bob, we understand -- go ahead. we know you have new information. >> reporter: we do. it sounds like police had the perimeter set up around bookson elementary in a neighborhood surrounding the school. in the past few minutes, many officers left the scene. they had been looking for a possible man with a gun after reports of at least one shot fired overnight. apparently, they did not find this man. we have to make the assumption they deemed this neighborhood safe. looking at the other side of the scene, this is bookson and you can see there were some officers there. it's hard to tell if they are in the process of leaving that area. you have the section of willow glen, this neighborhood surrounded with police, lights on, weapons drawn.

monday, an explosion rocked it. investigators will get back out there early this morning. the fire investigators say that natural gas leak from outside the building accumulating the garage -- accumulated in the garage and came into contact with a pilot light. moments before the blast, a deaf man says he felt his place vibrating, so he fled. we spoke to his sister who calls his escape a miracle. >> my brother read the bible every night. he believes in god. he just was a victim. i don't know. >> pg&e says crews will spend the morning relighting pilot lights for nearly 500 other customers in that area whose service was interrupted by the education plogs. >> happening now, the search is on for a missing inmate in san joakim county. his tattoos make him easy to spot. he has skull tattooed across his

francisco. we told you before, that street was purchased by a san jose couple for $90,000. homeowners want it rescinded. the tax collector auctioned off the road for nonpayment of taxes. it turns out, they were sending the bills to a bookkeeper who retired in the 1980s. homeowners had no idea. over here, we are looking at the streets and roadways. the freeways move well. very light traffic for the peninsula and the south bay starting to build a little bit for 101. no issues. there's a crash here. it's not affecting 580. no major issues there. it does show up on our reports. it starts to see a little slowing. look at that, off north 280. a typical pattern. after the bay bridge showed an earlier back up, we have had a smooth drive. on the upper right, highway 4,

waymo, owned by google's parent company is asking for more time to prepare. uber says they are ready for the trial and deny wrong doing. amazon is the winner for cyber monday. they have more money coming its way. amazon is getting huge tax break offers to build the second headquarters. governor jerry brown offered up to $1 billion in credits to build the headquarters here in the golden state. the city of chicago offered $2 billion. new jersey offered $7 billion. the city of fresno says they will give them the power to decide how tax dollars generated would be spent. amazon is expected to announce the location for the second headquarters next year. soda stream has a new trick, literally turning water into wine. people have been trying for years to create carbonated alcoholic drinks. now, a sparkling drink.
